There is something about joan. Whether or not she is a good actress, you can't keep your eyes off her. That stage presence is something hardly any one has. True legend. And so under rated

I feel so bad that Cindy and Cathy Crawford had to go through life having total strangers telling them the mother They loved was “a terrible human being”, usually based on a ridiculous movie loaded with fictitious characters and situations. How dumb.

Iam not indicating that Joan Crawford was a better actress than Betty Davis, however, you cannot deny she had this sophistication and demur to herself which came across so incredibly natural onscreen. She was defiantly better playing the subtle characters than Betty which would work more in today’s time as they can be more relatable. There were other actresses of that era who were slightly ahead of their times, playing characters in a more subtle, realistic or less dramatised approach of acting - Lana Turner, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Ava Judy Garland
@andressegui1236
@andressegui1236 6 лет назад
Rahul vinal Narayan true, her acting came out really natural and sophisticated, and Bette’s was much more flashier, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, back in the days this acting was sensational and still is, but you’re right, nowadays the acting has to be really natural and subtle and although one of the greatest actresses of all time Bette was anything but subtle.

@@AMDesignMarketing Yeah, right. So why were Joan and Hedda Hopper tossing around a bunch of shit to make Bette lose the Oscar for "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?" Joan knew ahead of time Anne Bancroft was going to get it for "The Miracle Worker", and she just wanted to throw it in Bette's face.
@AMDesignMarketing
@AMDesignMarketing 4 года назад
@@02chevyguy No, your thinking is flawed. She did not know ahead of time, w=but did want to be af the forefront and yes, to piss bette off. But you can;t blame her. Davis was so jealous of Crawford and Davis did much to malign the relationship.

Of the film, Joan Crawford described it as "A very pleasant pile of sh*t for wartime audience" 🤣 Behind the scenes story: After she was done filming her cameo she was mobbed by people who wanted her autograph. Bette Davis commented to someone "I bet she paid them all 5 dollars to do that." 😂😬 Also; When Joan was first approached about doing a cameo, she originally said no because she was worried that since she had been off screen for awhile that audiences would think she was all washed up. She was then told that Bette Davis had Barbara Stanwyck had agreed to appear in HC. "What is the billing?" Crawford inquired. "Alphabetical" was the response. "Well C comes before D and S, so I'll do it!"

I have the suspicion she had 'auditioned' Dane Clark beforehand, as I understand she often did. She took a page from the handbook of the male executives or stars with power in Hollywood and played by their rules.

So who was her husband at the time? The one she says has told her she looks like Joan Crawford.
@horrorationeilsen7332
@horrorationeilsen7332 6 лет назад
Her hubby at the time was Phil Terry a rising actor and considered by many to be the most hansome !! Joan at this time was unemployed, let go without fanfare,warning, or so much as a good-bye or good luck by MGM (still a common practice)., as they though she was a has been "old" flapper. They failed to recognize her great drive and ability to shape shift into sophisticated socialite and her remarkable re-inventivness. Warner Bros. did recon. she had more miles on her and cast her famously shortlly after and cast her in Mildred Pierce. Joan thought this film H.C. junk.

I was ready to dislike Faye Dunaway when i started watching an interview she did about Mommie Dearest however as it turned out Ms Dunaway was very gratious and respectful when talking about Joan - she clearly admired her a lot and she made it clear she was an actress following the script of the film and never judged Joan on that basis .
