For those who have questions about Joan's funeral & entombment. Joan was embalmed, casketed and dressed for a private visitation at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home. After the visitation concluded, Joan was taken to Ferncliff Cemetery & Crematory for cremation. After cremation, her ashes were sent back to the funeral home for her memorial service. Once the memorial ended, Joan's urn was taken to Ferncliff Cemetery and entombed In a companion crypt with her late husband Al Steele.
Joan Crawdord did appreciate her fan because she knew without them she wouldn't have the career that she had. Bette Davis realized this too. Bette's adopted son actually told her that without her fans she wouldn't have a career. I remember years ago when I was a kid I wrote to Joan Crawford and asked her for an autographed picture and a few weeks later came this big photo of Joan autographed to me. I treasured that pictre but a family member stole it I'm sure and sold it.

A much larger memorial service was held on May 17th at All Souls Unitarian Church, whereby 550 people attended, including many in the entertainment industry. On June 24th, a very large entertainment industry memorial service was held in Los Angeles, California.
Thank you for identifying them. This is truly amazing footage.. makes you almost feel like you’re there. Surreal. Great job. Just heartbreaking 💔 to hear her fan talking.
I'm curious did any filming occur at Joan's service where over 500 attended? I somehow doubt so, or else there would be evidence of posted on social media
Miss Crawford received a beautiful goodbye and tribute. An adoring fan spoke for all of us "little people," and Earl Wilson represented the industry in which she earned her keep. The exit was perfection! It could have been a Warner Brothers production. RIP Blanche xo
I love this page. Joan Crawford was such a force of talent, beauty, intellect and charisma. And she ADORED her fans!!!! Thank you for helping keep her legacy alive!
Loved her. Many thanks for this. The younger generation ignore the past; unfortunate. I'm 58, and "The Golden Years " are the only movies that I enjoy.
If you scroll up you will see that a very large service with over 500 people was held in late June. This service on the video was a private one held earlier. They're around 550 people at the other service and many were from the entertainment industry.
Great footage, however I didn't know who was who. I recognised Christina & the Bitch in the house :) Otherwise must've been dear friends of Joan. Thanks for sharing Bry :)
Very interesting. I wish you could have captioned the names of any notables, some looked familiar but they passed by so quickly. Did Anna (Mamacita) attend the funeral? I noticed only one gentleman tip the doorman.
There were others, actress Geraldine Brooks, her co-star in Possessed & 2nd wife of screenwriter Budd Schulberg . Brooks was herself battling cancer & dead of a heart attack, in just over a month's time. Pearl Bailey who sang at her funeral...et al. 👍🏾💯⚱🪦
@@TheConcludingChapterofCrawford That’s very interesting! Do you know if those photos continue exist today? And Do you believe they’ll ever be released to the public? Lastly, did the man you spoke to provide you with a description of what she looked like? I’ve always been very curious about what her life was like during 1977 before her passing.
I might be wrong, bud didn't George Cukor organize a Hollywood memorial service for Joan Crawford? I believe it was held on a movie studio sound stage ?
Joan had multiple memorial services. This was the May 13th funeral service at Campbell's for only the family and close friends. Then, there was one on May 17th at All Souls Unitarian Church, which was much larger and had 500 attending. The largest was in Los Angeles in June. That is the one you are referring to. It had over 1,500 people attend, and was open to everyone in the entertainment community.
