This is when Hollywood was still Glamorous. The actors and actresses were like Royalty. They had such class and an elegance. Not like today's actor's, they are just film actor's. Back in the sixties they were Real Movie Stars and acted... Didn't have to depend on special effects and Green Screens to make the film..
Joan's smile when the applause for her kept going was so charming ❤ I'm so used to seeing her in dramatic roles but she pulls off comedy so well too. A true talent and a class act.
You know when i first saw joan in movies i always picture her as tall slender lady with long legs 😅but when i find out she was actually 5'4 i was like what unbelievable
Despite her personal issues (from childhood trauma) she was a fascinating and captivating woman. She had the “it” factor. She truly loved and adored every single fan. She was without a doubt the most driven, motivated and hardworking woman in Hollywood.
I think we really get a glimpse into Joan’s naturally southern dialect. Of course she never used it, but it’s also heard in her airport interview. Unfortunately in both programs, she was going in and out of alcohol problems. However, like many stars said, she never let it get in the way of her work. I think this is a prime example.
Joan was known to be extremely charitable person. She supported a lot of Hollywood staff (technicians, stuntman, and other small time workers) for the education of their children and hospital bills, more often anonymously. Always replied each fan letter
She was one of a kind. An incredibly beautiful and talented woman who appreciated her fans A movie star, a business woman, a mother, and simply amazing..There will never be another Joan Crawford. She's iconic. So nice to know that she supported Hollywood staff with generosity. A class act woman.
Joan Crawford, was true Hollywood Royalty! She started acting at age 16! Hollywood saved her life! I loved all of her movies! Joan, Lucy and Vivian were all my favorite actresses! Thanks for this episode! ❤
I used to believe the inaccurate mommy dearest version of Joan until I read more about her , watched her and heard other peoples memory of her including Barbara Stanwyck and Steven Spielberg , her other children …. I find her classy , polite, talented , caring and professional and delightful . Here is to you Joan . Thank you .
I read somewhere that Lucy and Joan clashed frequently on the set and Joan was even quoted as saying "And people call me a bitch!" in regards to Ms Ball.
It's weird how episodes of shows from over 45 years ago can stay in my mind, yet it's so easy for me to forget what I wore or ate the day before. (Smile)
I absolutely love this episode. The best episode ever. Couldn't have pick a better guest. Joan Crawford. (Oh, she's my all time favorite). Ms. Crawford was certainly a class act. She was always polite to her fans and the public. I've seen all her films.
After a horrible day, I finally got around to watching this! I couldn't help but smile with the Crawford reveal. Joan was great. It was all nonsense of course but wonderfully fun nonsense. Thank you for posting.
Haha Joan was so good here, it shows how much range she had as an actress and she was still so beautiful😊 She could have done so much in her later career in the 70’s like comedies
Joanie was also a comedic actress, it's so wonderful to watch her. if only one had a chance to meet her, have a cup of coffee with her and chat about everything
Joan Crawford 1 of the best actresses. I have seen all of her movies. I love every one of them. I have some of joan Crawfords movies. I watch them quite often.
I stil love to watch 'The Lucy Show', 'Lucy Desi Comedy hours' and of course' 'I love Lucy ' (every episode) too ! Thanks to all of you for giving us joy and laugh and lighten our hard time (now a days) we are passing through !
I love these three legendary gals together. It's surprising to see that Joan was actually quite a small woman. You always think of her as tall and commanding in most of her movies because she has such a strong presence but both Lucy and Viv have quite a bit of height on her.
Reportedly, Miss Ball was to have been very cruel to Crawford during this shoot. Somehow I can believe that. A lot of people have come forward and revealed that Saint Lucy was an absolute pain in the ass to work with.
Joan was an amazing actress beautiful and elegant. She started out in a couple silent films. Lucy and Vivien was fantastic funny. Love these 3 beautiful women. Gale Gordon played many characters on old time radio. You all should listen to satellite radio channel 148 for shows with him in it
Sam Jones, a set decorator 1950s through the 70s said Lucy demanded everyone on the set call her Miss Ball. A worker said Lucy one day, he was fired immediately.
Oh, Joan Crawford and her production manager offered Mr. Mooney(actor Gale Gordon) a JOB? WOW!!! Lucy and Vivian( screen name of Ethel) were absolutely DELIGHTFUL. I was a baby when the episode was aired and so i didn't see it. UNTIL right now.
In the 60s, there was a lot of nostalgia for the Roaring twenties. Like the films Bonnie and Clyde, Thoroughly Modern Millie and the #1 hit record "Winchester Cathedral '
Oh did you know that Joan Crawford is NOT her real name? In fact her real name was Lucille Fay LeSueur.... I am sure it would have been known as the Lucy show times two, if she kept her real name. Then of course there would have been two Lucys staring in this show, instead of one. I found it out after I remember looking at her biography many years back.
