Joan Crawford's guest appearance on "Route 66." Originally premiered on television on October 4th, 1963 The Concluding Chapter of Crawford www.TheConcludingChapterOfCrawford.com
when the movies ended she kept busy on TV with popular shows like this and other appearances on Variety shows and light entertainment. Yes, she does look like the Movie Star in this. She was great on melodramatic roles. No actress could beat her, infact
No matter what the medium, Joan never gave less than 100%! This program was new to me and was a great treat to watch! Rest in Peace, Joan, and thank you for the top-drawer performance!
I had no idea JC had appeared on so many tv shows in the 50s and 60s. Big stars considered "lowering" themselves to tv as the career graveyard. But I guess "lower" work still pays some of the bills. Gigantic actress. Massive talent. Golden Hollywood Icon.
This was such a good series. Stirling Silyphant, (I know, it's misspelled) Nelson Riddle, everything about it is classic. Joan Crawford and many big names came on. It's still one of the best. 🌹
We lived by Cumston Hall in Monmouth when I was born then moved to Poland where the spring is. People my parents age talked about this episode often back in the day.
Thank you very much. I love "Route 66", and, no luck, I hadn't seen this epsode. 😘 THE imperial, glorious, always astonishing Joan Crawford is a brightning compensation of the absence of the delightful George Maharis. 💘💛💘 (Corbett is cute but he doesn't have the charisma, the charm, the sweet irony of Maharis)
Never seen this episode before . Liked watching Joan, as usual she plays much younger than her actual age. The story is kinda silly, still I enjoyed watching. Thanx.
Whether Joan Crawford was performing on the silver screen or the TV set, she was the 🌟! Her acting talent overshadowed those of her co-stars on any given program. Such elegance and grace. Cadillacs and Crawford go so well together.
Joan Crawford did two that I have seen. One was a "Night Gallery" episode. Both were filmed in the early 1970's. She played a wealthy blind woman who purchased a prisoner's eyes so she could see again. The Night Gallery episode, she stays the night in a haunted house after her car breaks down. Look for them online or at "Me TV"
Thanks yet again TCCOC for another FABULOUS tv show. I knew she did this but never saw it. The video is pristine......totally HD!!!!! Your awesome. Can't wait to see some more!!!!!
This was a great video. I wish someone knew the history of this. How much she liked working on this show how much the other actors liked her stuff like that.
I can answer that for you - Joan had a great experience filming this episode. It was filmed on location in Monmouth, Maine, which is a small town, and the locals were fascinated by Joan's presence in their town, and treated her very kind. There were no issues on set with anyone, and the filming went along very smoothly. Joan filmed this in September 1963, only a few weeks after she had completed "Strait-Jacket," and only a month before she would film "Royal Bay" (a.k.a. "Della")
TheConcludingChapterofCrawford This is very good and of a high quality, production-wise. The music was excellent then I saw Nelson Riddle’s name and it made sense! I thought Joan was very much at her best as far as the television performances go, or maybe second to the Spielberg Night Gallery episode! Thank you for yet another gem! ✨
It's so progressive the way she went on TV! All the publicity and attention lay in television but not everyone realized it until a decade later than this.
I am so glad for Crawford that she got a powerful role in a hit show and a script by Sterling Silliphant one of the absolute top writers of the 'Golden Age' of television so late in her career.
I am 68 years old my siblings and I had to put that old black coal in those pot belly stove then shake them hot ashes down and scoop them out 🔥 ouch 10-18-2021
