Greg Perras I am pretty sure I saw you last night hard at work by the side of the road begging for somebody to feed you because you have never worked a day in your life.
Gunnhild Edwards joan's face never moved before ,she is a very serious person ,with a serious face expressions ,just wait until you see her smile,it will move !
Listening to Joan talk here and on the DVD commentary she is just pure rock. Like she's seen it all and has nothing to prove. She really has lived her whole life in music and it just comes off making her sound like the coolest (person, male or female) ever.... It's really awesome.......
I kinda would like to see a sequel of sorts about Joan Jett's time with her band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts with Kristen Stewart as her again. I know they hinted at it some but like a movie showing Joan with her new band singing a bunch of the songs she came up with after The Runaways. I think that'd be cool.
Amazing what they achieved at such a young age. They were a better live band when aged 16 than most are in their 20s and 30s. My teenage band sounded like utter crap compared to them. Love that Joan and Cherie have both aged amazingly well. In love with them both!
I started a band late but that’s because I didn’t learn guitar til I was about 16(I only knew power cords and loved punk) played for 2-3 years and when I was 19 I got a drum kit and told my friend he should try, come to find out he’s better than me with the same knowledge level(I taught him the basics) and then right before I turned 20 my other friend started playing bass. We have some of our practices on yt called distorted vision band. We just bought a recorder to start making professional recordings.
They haven't really talked about theor time in the band. Maybe they didn't want to so they didn't push it in the film. Besides the film focuses on Joan and Cerrie as partners of sorts. They didn't date but they've said in interviews they were close and did hookup.
Cherie, you rock at anything you do. I lost my best friend to drugs in 76 and I remember the turmoil within your ranks but didn't quite understand what was going on, It will be an honor to speak with you and maybe talk charity event Runaway reunion down the road aways I have radio stations on board, and they are keeping it within until I talk to them someday after I ve talked with you all. The event against exploited teens, where drugs were heavily administered to prevent escape. Was there from 12 to 13 until a 12 year old rival jr high schhooler saved my life in a cold , dank and drab outside mall, She doesn't even know what she accomplished that night,! I had about an hour and a half to go, chain smoking and crying, when an angel appeared to me, and had a smoke,; south of pennsylvania!. I will call her randolph and she may call me Montgomery. She's been my guardian angel for half a century and its time to tell her what she has accomplished privately along with publicly!Whatever becomes that it becomes. I still will fight for air play and remarketing to the most revolutionary band in history As Charlie Chaplin received an oscar at the end of his life for the compilation of his work, I believe the Runaways need to be inducted into the hall of fame on their own kick ass and take names merit as the pioneers who started it all, that phenomenal sound that nobody will come close to repeating!
I went to Joan Jett and the blackhearts concert few days, and man it was amazing. Cherie currie was there and played around six songs. Including cherry bomb and queens of noise. It was Amazing. I love them! Joan Jett is my idol. She is just an amazing talented woman. You can so tell that music is literally her life. She didn't even take a break. Singing for hours. Gotta love her!
there's never really been an all girl band that I can think of that followed in The Runaways steps or had a big impact. I remember the group The Donnas but they didn't last long. They were pretty good too.
I love seeing them together! I know Sandy West is gone, God rest her soul, but it would be awesome if they got back together for a tour! Put Patty Schemell on drums and it would rock. And better yet, have a GoGos reunion as a double bill and it would be EPIC!!!
I would never have guessed how utterly awesome they were and so far ahead of their time. It's a shame they didn't make a whole lot of money but they're definitely go down as Legends and rock and roll. If you're heart beats rock and roll that's the real reward 🤟
The Runaways are AMAZING!! Cherie Currie voice's has edge but i love her voice!!! Im only 13 & since I watched the movie I started to like their music!!!
Ya know at 51 and after seeing Joan a couple of times I got the impression that she is kind of a bitch. But she is not. She is just tough as nails. You can not blame a girl for that. Rock on Joan!
I watched an interview with Joan Jett today on the Guitar Center vids. She seems to have great integrity, and is really quite humble. She paved the way for women in Rock. 23 record lablels turned her down (after the Runaways disbanded). So she and her partner formed Blackheart Records- and did it themselves. She also loves producing other artists- because she said, it's taking her fandom to a whole other level. Very cool. I just formed my own band late in life and she's a HUGE inspiration. Rock on. ...and she still looks and sounds AMAZING.
You figure there wasn't any girl bands yet , Pat Benatar followed behind them , but the Runaways was Punk Rock an had a whole different image , Benatar was clean rock , then came the Go-Go's and they were commercial Rock/Pop . The Runaways paved the way and paid the price .
superstarpally She is rightly known as the Godmother of the riot Grrrlz . She also produced the first Germs record, which was a landmark for the L.A punk movement.
Rock and roll history. I loved the movie and it's portrayal of what happend and dakoda fanning did cherie currie so well and kristen did a great job playing joan.
This band was really amazing for the times and conditions they had to work with. Saw them first at the Golden West Ballroom in Norwalk, Ca. Then I saw them at the Whiskey which is in this clip. I can't remember who's house it was, but I am pretty sure that I was at the party that was in the Runaways movie. I really never had a thing for either front women, I was more interested in Lita Ford and Sandy West(RIP).
@amberfwn - Actually , The Runaways in the beginning were Joan Jett , Sandy West & Michael Steele ( girl ) aka Micki Steele. Then the next line up was Joan Jett , Sandy West & Peggy Foster. Then Joan Jett , Sandy West , Lita Ford & Cherie Currie and so on.
@OathkeeperRyu Agreed. I was never a fan of Kristen's previous work and I was actually pretty pissed when I found out she was going to be portraying Joan Jett in the movie. But she did surprisingly well. The best performance I've seen of her yet.
I love them both Joan and Cherie that's just something true and magnetic about them like they are real wild ones. especially Joan cause Cherie was a bit under the pressure and finally she left the band. and i consider kristen and dakota were playing very good and they were convincing. i wish i lived in 70s and could be a part of the Runaways
ohh great doings girls rock and roll sets a heart a fire, your all fun glad to see u can get ahold of addictions so keep rockin that is an addiction I love.
i read cherie's book "neon angel" like 10 times i liked the runaways they were an in your face band tough just like the guys were and would fight till the death especially lita ford she didn't take anybody's shit neither did joan-jay
