What a lovely lady. Such a shame she passed away the year after this interview, and at only 71 too. I love the Carry Ons and it's always nice seeing Joan pop up in other comedy films of the 50s and 60s as well.
Great to see an interview with the legend that is Joan Sims. I am a big 'Carry On' fan and enjoyed her role in ' Only Fools and Horses, the Frogs Legacy.'
Joan sims seemed such a lovely lady, the type of person you could talk to all day. She never did marry in real life. All the wonderful characters she played. All of the carry on team seemed great people. Wish this interview had been longer.
An absolutely brilliant character actress and a lovely lady. So tragic she died at only 71. She was my favourite of the carry on team, and would’ve made a terrific serious actress if she had only been given the chance. R.I.P wonderful lady. Xx
@@matimus100 for some years brother...she now resides in the halls of valhalla..I've heard wardruna are writing a song for her along with heilung...HAIL to the old ways.
This lovely interview must be amongst the last public appearances that Joan Sims made. She was taken ill in November 2000 and died in June of the following year.
Watch the three hander between Joan, Kenneth Williams and Peter Butterworth in Carry On Don't Loose Your Head. It's a masterclass in comedy without a live audience.
A tour de force when the camera rolled, her comedic timing was impeccable, it's a shame there isn't a good long deepdive conversation with her somewhere and not just these short features where she doesn't ever get the time to truly relax and reflect
