Quelle carrière et quelle voix spectaculaire, stupefiante en effet. Et une interprète qui paraît pourtant très humaine malgré une voix qui semble parfois surnaturelle tant elle est véloce.
I had the great opportunity to see her onstage in some of her great roles, beginning in 1973, in New York. I also saw her in recital in Brooklyn and Buffalo NY, of all places! An extraordinary sound, and a voice that could apparently do anything.
"Belle" voix n'est sans doute pas le meilleur qualificatif pour Sutherland! Mais "puissante" "virtuose" "stupéfiante" "étonnante" et surtout, "miraculeuse". Ce fut le plus édifiant et puissant soprano drammatico d'agilità du XXème siècle.

Why show clips from the last two years of her career? It was remarkable how well she sang in her 60s but it’s not really representative of why she was La Stupenda.
I agree and there are clips from the 60s and 70s available. I heard her live from 1980 and she was still La Stupenda in Lucrezia Borgia and the final London Lucias in 1985. After that her voice did begin to wind down as she said but she could still astonish as late as a concert in Newcastle in 1989, despite a bomb hoax!
