Now two weeks into her journey down the Nile, Joanna Lumley leaves Egypt behind her, crossing Lake Nasser by ferry and entering Sudan. During the 18 hour journey she has to deal with crowding and less than sanitary conditions but agreeable travel companions. She gets to view the great statues at Abu Simbel as they pass by. They then travel by car to Wawa where they boat down a stretch of Nile in search of giant crocodiles that can grow up to 20 feet long. A further trip by car takes them to a holy mountain and then go deep underground to visit the tomb of a Queen who lived circa 650 B.C.
Welcome to the History Channel, the home of gripping and powerful documentaries. Here you can watch both full length documentaries and series that explore some of the most comprehensive pieces of world history.

I work with Sudanese guy in the US and when he greets me is similar to Somalis greeting where he asked you how are you, the family, husband and life in general. Dear Joanna, I admire your courage and wonderful attitude towards everything, that you do, with feeling and enthusiasm! This lake "Nasser", has a surface-area of 5,250 square kilometres, as opposed to the other artificial lake, Lake Volta, in Ghana, which covers an area of 8,502 square kilometres. It was, for the people of Ghana, just as big a sacrifice, to lose even more land, at the time, but now, they are exporting electricity to many other African countries! . I lived in the UK for47 years, but returned to Germany, because of the deteriorating work-situation and the poorer getting manners, esp. lack of respect for pensioners like me!

She even offer Salam to the locals and a smatterings of shukrans ( thanks) here and there Am her fan now.

This man who lives in the dessert by choice and thinks his life is incredible....it's just blowing my mind as a city-dwelling woman that people might absolutely chose to live like this. And they pity us. And he's totally right! Look what an honest and simple life that man makes. While we're harried and burdened by technology. Incredible.
