Now working in the furnaces is hard hot work, I actually worked on live crematoriums replacing the loose stones, a good job in the winter when there’s snow on the ground and every other brickie is sitting at home

Do you need certain education to start an apprenticeship program ?
@stormeagle5050
@stormeagle5050 3 года назад
Not necessarily besides having a GED or HSD. I would recommend doing a pre-apprenticeship before a formal apprenticeship

Me gustaría ir a Canadá a trabajar como ayudante de albañil. Estoy en Argentina trabajando desde hace tres años como ayudante de albañilería.

Are the job conditions in Argentina good? You should try to find companies in the United States or in Canada who hire qualified workers from other countries and get a working visa that way. Best of luck my friend! 🙂

One downside they don't tell you is that if you live in a colder climate you can't lay bricks in freezing temperatures unless you do interior renovations, and home projects are usually not union work. If you get caught working outside of the union you can be kicked out of the union that supplies you work and be fined. I live in New England where it snows from November to April. That's half of the year where you have to be looking for other work in another trade or part time jobs. That is why the hourly wages are so high in northern cities like Boston. Bricklaying is a much more lucrative trade in the southern half of the United States where you can work all year round and make a very decent paycheck.

I’m a Brickie of 22 years. Worked in Ireland, Australia, USA even France, I’m now a Brickie foreman in London. I still don’t know if I agree with your statement! I do know I would not get half the money I get doing anything else. A guy once said to me once you pick up a trowel your damaged goods.
