What questions do you have about AK that might help you answer these important questions?

What's the best place to get land and build a cabin, with wild life too so I can hunt and fish, thanks? I'm interested in moving, California has become too expensive. I know Alaska is cold, but I like cold weather. Also, even if I don’t get a job right away, I’ll just enjoy the nature and hunt and fish for food, and live in motorhome

Such great videos! My question is about relocation allowances and employers. How often do you see Alaskan employers offering relocation allowances to new hires moiving up? That is a huge deciding factor for us. Thank you!

One of the hardest parts of moving to Alaska from out of state is the moving without a job guarantee. A lot of companies won't take the chance on someone who isn't already living local.
@alaska_realtor
@alaska_realtor 2 года назад
That is a very obnoxious truth. I understand employers hesitating to hire people who are out of state, but there are a lot of industries with drastic shortages who STILL aren't willing to consider out of state people. It's ridiculous.

I’m going to be graduating college with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing in December of this year. I’ve lived in a small town just outside of Columbus, OH all my life. As my hometown friends went to school out of state, I stayed 20 minutes away from my hometown. As my college friends went abroad for semesters at a time, I stayed in a 10x10 dorm room studying for classes I didn’t care about. Recently I’ve had an itch to get out and get some cool life experiences. Especially now while I’m single, without kids, pets, property, etc. and an extreme move has less stakes. Alaska, specifically the Anchorage area, has been calling my name. One of my biggest fears about the move is the job security concerns, especially with the notorious cost of living. Your channel is very informative and I’m thankful to see people talking about this sort of thing. I’m very appreciative of your easy to understand content, whether I end up putting this information to use or not.

Hi Emma! Thank you very much. AK is certainly a great state if you're looking for adventure and wanting to find a place that's not quite a cookie cutter place to live. You should definitely come up and visit. That would inform your decision a bit I'm sure!

People are leaving Alaska because there are no hi end jobs much any more. The state population at pick was762,000 now its 703,000 & falling. Jobs use to be good pay. not any more & now can't leave because can't save enough to get out of the state. Now your trapped up here. Rent use to be $ 400.oo /month for a two bed room appt. in 1980. Now $ 1200.oo & up if your lucky in Anchorage. Out town cheaper but you just may drive an hour each way to work in snow. If your lucky. The number of homeless has jumped big time as well as the crime. Some do make it. In short there is a very high turn over. Moving up just to leave in a few years. The gas tax jumped .16 cents a gallon At $ 4.oo to 5.oo gal. & some places higher. Like $6.oo/gal in Adak in 2007. It's more now days. So be very carful what you put in your pipe to smoke as weed is now ok to smoke. Do not let anyone B.S. ya. But you will love the beauty of Alaska

If you have any leads on oilfield hauling jobs, I would appreciate your imputs. I have a knack for servicing the workover rigs. I imagine that these jobs are seasonal due to the location of the oilfield in question. Thank you.

How is alaska for entrepreneur opportunities? Particularly on the kenai and from Anchorage to Wasilla.
@alaska_realtor
@alaska_realtor 3 года назад
Good question. As an entrepreneur, you know that the opportunities are really only limited by your ingenuity to meet the needs of the public. So what skills do you bring and how can you use that to solve problems of people in AK?

This video was quite closer about some info, that people needs if planning to move to another place. If you are no a business person, high profile “ working from home person”, and a professional fellow. Perhaps that the reason, you need another kind of information about job in other places. In my own experience with “ job videos” about Alaska. They are quite narrowing to Seasonal jobs. ( looks the must popular option, but no for me) Fishing industry ( no my field) Oil industry ( a no other field 4 m) Sadly I’m not a professional. Then ( double sadly). My options looks scarcely a few only. Usually nobody talks about Warehouses or factories in Alaska. Or those industries are in very low demand over there. Or no we’ll pay or we’ll known etc, etc . Ur video has been the first one among others that was a little bit closer to other jobs options in Alaska. Went there before the Pandemic. And couldn’t get a real glance how warehouse- factories move up there. Thank u for this video.

Looking for work in heavy equipment, where do I look? Don't mind remote work Looking for high paying jobs close to nature. I love to fish.

I would start by calling about any heavy equipment company in the area and seeing if they have openings or upcoming openings. If they don't, then ask if they know anyone else who is.

My family and i are determined to move to Alaska. We live in the Gulfcoast Southeast Texas area. Now i watched your video(s) and what caught my ear was the job part. I am a Boilermaker/Welder. How is the job market for that?? My work is in the refineries(Oil and Chemical).
@alaska_realtor
@alaska_realtor 3 года назад
That's a good job to have! A lot of our homes are heated with boilers up here. Also, your job skills sound like they would transfer very easily to the oilfields up here. Those jobs can be a little tough to get but if you get them, people usually don't want to let them go. The pay is good.

@@alaska_realtor would you be able to give me a few company names i could contact? We are looking to move close to Palmer.
@alaska_realtor
@alaska_realtor 3 года назад
@@lonniemcgallion You know, I can't speak specifically for the boilermaker trade, but I do know that Valley Mtn Mechanical is a great HVAC company in the MatSu Valley (Palmer). Tony Vargo over there is great and will likely be able to give you some more insights into the local area. It might not be directly related to his industry though. With a job like that, is kinda a matter of who you know or are those jobs posted?
@williamstephenson6387

@@lonniemcgallion I used to live up there. You probably want to get ahold of the Boilermakers union hall there. Also look at NANA CORP. That's oilfield and oilfield support.
