Let's get former Marine Raider Nick Koumalatsos on the podcast too. Interested to hear what common discipline and ownership themes Jocko would see in Nick's book "Excommunicated Warrior".
@@mrsirthedave1728 That would be an awesome podcast if it were to happen. Along with Nick Koumalatsos, I would love to see Jocko have on Rob O'Neil, Thomas ''Drago''Dzieran, Rudy Reyes, Nate Fick, Nicholas Irving, Mark Divine, Jack Murphy, Jim West, Jason Everman, Randy Couture(who is also a veteran) and Wes Moore.
In my opinion SOI was 10X harder than basic. Beg him not to get into drinking while he's there, and instead be humble and work out. Get ready to go up and down mountains all day. BTW let him know the fleet doesn't get easier. But deployment does.
Bravo Co. 1/9 was my first unit. It was a MEU(SOC) boat company. The Walking Dead. Was disbanded in Sep ‘94 at Camp Horno (Pendleton). I heard about the colors being stood up again post 9/11. Glad to hear Mr. Herrera was part of that. 🤙🏼
I have two sets of twin boys. Couldnt imagine being paralyzed and being a father. Makes him even more of a badass in my eyes. Thank you Mr Herrera for your service and sacrifice for this great nation.
@@ascendtoaesthetics Garand Thumb would be cool, but considering he's never deployed I don't know what they would really talk about. I doubt Jocko is interested in talking about what it's like to be a gear/gun channel.
That excerpt at the beginning was horrifying. That's a modern day fucking Spartan, man...Jesus peace...to be able to conjure that way of thinking, your soul has to be forged in fire, blood, loss of life, and gunsmoke. You can't even pretend you be about the shit a Marine Raider is about if that's how they all feel. Shiiiit. 😱
Does youtube automatically assign dislikes to videos? I really don't see what 44 people have seen that actually makes them want to hit the dislike button
The Marine Corps should bring back the 4th Marine Raider Battalion and use it as the Reserve Component of the Raiders. There are so many good Marines that are ready to move up from the conventional Marine Corps to a greater challenge with MARSOC, but they also want to pursue a college degree, a civilian career, or to spend more time with their family. Having a reserve component would help retain quality Marines that would contribute to MARSOC while also lessening losing Marines to the National Guard SF. Secondly, bring back the Paramarines!
Jocko and Echo, thank you so much for these podcasts, especially the book reviews. I find them riveting. The depth of both human depravity and honor are remarkable. Would you consider reviewing Lone Survivor by Marcus Latrell? much respect to you both, DAP
Thank you and respect to you all! I actually built robotic prosthetics for Parker Hannifin for a year before starting my own business, I was grateful to be a part of that project while I was there, it helps so many people. Parkers product is called the Indigo.
Lived in the green zone brother PB Watson sangin Afghanistan 2011-2012 operation eastern storm it was the Wild West god bless you we chewed some of the same dirt
THE CHANNEL DIES IN A WEEK (allegedly) Damn. Here we are again. This morning I woke up to a dozen old copyright claims being filed. As a result, having 3+ copyright strikes has my channel marked for deletion in a week. I'm waiting on responses from folks right now to try and get this resolved, but honestly I'm less than hopeful. As if I needed more reasons to stay away from RU-vid, right? I'm going to lose everything if this channel goes away, but I'm sure as hell not going to lose this incredible audience and community I've created over these last 3 years - some of the best years of my life. I owe all of this to all of you, the folks who keep coming back just to see what I've been up to, or message me encouraging things when I'm not feeling 100%. I love you all, each and every one of you. Well, everyone but Phil. Sorry, Phil.
comment two : this is the kind of stuff I mean ,just watched : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_J2VwFDV4-g.html I exspect this is just the tip of the Iceberg ! If the real truth came out , a bit like the testing of atomic bombs at sea in the 1950's what ...This is exactly what I mean , and then ....You tell me .
Didn’t like the boots we got from IOC it takes a full work up for it to click for them as it probably should I couldn’t imagine stepping off a month out with a new LT with his chest out not knowing shit

i'am a programmer and i have question . i can make a program that reminds me by the things on my day and make system but is it good to make a system leads you instead of driving your self on your own bath ??? or is that count as a good thing ...
Jocko I love your podcast. Your sarcasm about the video cassettes I get it. The question is do you remember beta tapes? Also your not even that old. I am giving you a compliment. 90 is old not 40 or 50, especially with staying disciplined with health and wellness. Please be kind rewind. I remember watching beta tapes and I am younger than you. My Aunt owned a video cassette store in early 80s so I watched a variety of genres and was exposed to movies that you may have never seen from 30s 40s and 50s. And yes all the iconic 70s and 80s including Trading Places. All your funny jokes about movies hahaha streaming on Netflix......silly Jocko.
Raptor2913 you can’t join and go directly to marsoc you have to spend time in infantry first from my understanding my boss at the job I work at was a infantry staff sergeant
thank you to the raiders and all of our military. great podcast. full disclosure I haven't laughed that hard in awhile when jocko responded to "can they feel that?" lmao. love ya echo
United States Navy SEAL. He received the Silver Star and Bronze Star for his service in the Iraq War. Willink was commander of SEAL Team Three's Task Unit Bruiser during the Battle of Ramadi. Willink graduated from the University of San Diego in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in English.
Mr. "I threw my gun down and covered my ears so I didn't have to listen to my BEST FRIEND calling for my help". Mr. I fucked over the one man who is the reason that I am alive today, Mr. I lied about everything that happened on that faithful day aside from the fact that I was saved by an Afghani man. I don't really like Luttrell, he's a liar, he has no loyalty, and I'm tempted to say he's a coward, considering when the shit got tough, he threw down his weapon, and left his self-proclaimed best friend to be killed.
The Wolverine Physically neither is a neck beard on any chin, you’re no exception. You’re welcome and have a great Turkey Day. Ps. Cardio is our friend.
Good on you brother and thank you for the sacrifice. I know your team respects the shit out of you. Best of luck with everything and keep on keppin on.
Incredible you read it as though your'e living it . I can see the excitment the ancient warrior culture , the high emotionality of this kind of engagement, but what worries me is what's going on behind the scenes , some general behind this and higher up politicians deciding on when to go to war aftre originally backingg Saddam Hussein the the Americans suddenley realized that he was torturing people members of his own family , and then the bombing of the Kurds ( Halabja), the USA secret service and government must have known this was likely to happen . The whole thing is crazy I mean I can see it but if the USA hadn't of backed him , if they had acted in other ways depriving Iraq of the neccessary resources to build and stockpile weapons and so on , no they must have known years before . It all makes me feel sick on a very deep level kinda , like the latest craze for bare knuckle fighting or I kinda feel warm and allmost sorry for all these military personell, like they are going in when politicians have cocked up and when the money they thought would flow in from Iraq to line thier greedy pockets didn't materialize , it's time to send the "boys in ", Just had a phone call from a friend whose Jocko ....err PTSD he said , yes but . Quite understandably in a world full of well...Other men and I have to say yes me to , look upto you Jocko , what is it to be a man ! Just ask Jocko baby. 30 mins in sorry time to check out . God Bless.
Not really me this , My dad lived it and then forgot it , for me it isn't romantic at all , but it takes all sorts . behind war is pseudo politics ie what are we doing messing with other countries we first support totlasitarian regimes until the leaders or war lords turn nasty , today Governmnets seem unable to help thier own citizens they prefer this kind of foreign interference and then the dramatic interventions , it is a sad indicement of the times we live in I am afraid . The Big Players USA, Russia , China just can't seem to see the big picture and we all suffer!
