“Remember that death is lighter than a feather. But duty is heavier than a mountain.” Feathers flew in great numbers. The mountain proved too heavy. They were held off by a determined battalion of MARINES.
I'm the same, in that I either didn't get enough sleep or I fell asleep much later after going to bed. Cos you're still getting up and getting after it.
Jocko, please, please, please do an episode on the book 'Vimy' by Pierre Burton. I know you probably wont see this comment and dont have time but i had to say it😊
I don't care what anyone says... 0300 is still NIGHT TIME... and not morning yet. People are still drinking @ the bar... as we speak. Naww. Not me thoughg cklearly....
He needs to get Eric demming on and aggressively attack the accusations face to face instead of passive aggressively drop hints on who it was who spilled the beans on him
@@JHopkins because jackoo preaches "extreme ownership" and doesn't practice what he preaches. If he was really about it he would bring the dude on and dismantle him for everyone to hear. Instead he passive aggressively tip toes over the subject. Also be claims the leadership wouldn't allow that to happen which is bullshit. Look what happened to team 7 when they got kicked out of Iraq
Something Task Force Cruiser was not!!!!! Jocko is fooling you all, he was not a good leader. He is responsible for a lot of unnecessary deaths. A lot of Marines died due to the failures of Jocko, Leif, Chris Kyle, etc…
Just to comment on the Sea Bees. …. I was serving as an infantry Marine during peace time in the late 90s in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. We were tasked to be “aggressors” for a training exercise in mount town on Schofield Barracks, an army base on Oahu. So basically we would perform raids on the Sea Bees, mimicking what we thought enemy forces would do. Those guys were solid dudes. They didn’t stand a chance against our persistent assaults, but they were quick learners and, by the end of the exercise, they were wired much tighter than the beginning. Just wanted to give props to the Sea Bees.
Seeking tech sales career advice (I know a lot of sales guys watch this podcast so I thought "where better to ask?"): I'm a junior data engineer pondering a shift to tech sales. Friends and colleagues think I've got what it takes. But I'm torn. Is it wise to invest more time in data engineering for stability? Then I could explore sales roles later. My main worry is hitting 30 soon. Still, I believe the right opportunity is worth the wait. Your thoughts are welcome.
32:42 Jocko and Echo talk about American Samoa in 1932 and how to pronounce the city Pago Pago 36:39 How soldiers arrived in 1932 and started learning the language
I get where Echo's coming from, BUT, I wish you non-Italians would try to pronounce the most basic words properly. When I hear, "Mary-nara" instead of Marinara, or the way you people say, "mozzarella", makes me crazy on the inside. TRY, PEOPLE! TRY!
@jockowillink Don’t forget the air force equivalent of the Navy CB… specifically the 201 RED HORSE … was great to see you when you stopped to visit us in Horsham PA while we were paving a road. 😉
Already love this episode my grandpa was a sea bee during the Vietnam war if I remember right. Having to build in that type of environment even now sounds daunting.
Jocko, who knew? You are a great oratator. You may have some authors looking for you to read for their books on tape. I think you need to do more of this sort of podcasts. This format is perfect.
....just hit me, you are lucky Jocko to have Echocharles.....being prior Navy from Desert Storm as an Electronic Warfare tech on Aegis cruiser.....spent 26 years with wife and got to a point as you experience civilian life, then bring up something from your military career - she is done with the stories some years ago. Nice to have someone who is across and truely interested in what you have to offer. Oh well - she's hot so I really don't care. Strength and honor gentleman.
