prime jodeci cannot be touched. jojo and k-ci singing like gods. devante creating TIMELESS classics! the fact that these performances can still hit 20 years later says it all.
This sound is incredible...from the vocals to the most obscure instrumentals parts. Devante deserves his flowers! Man...this is MY era of keyboards too. I see a Roland JX-8P, a Roland JD-800, a Korg M1, and a Yamaha SY-99! I wish I could tell what else they were using. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Roland D-50 and a Yamaha DX100 (somebody was playing talkbox) on stage too! I'm a geek for 80's and 90's gear and a huge fan of how late 80's-mid 90's R&B cats utilized it!
@prodbyjay-tf4vn I agree that they were likely using the SP1200, MPC60 or maybe the MPC60ii. I know for sure that DeVante used the ASR10 in the studio. I wish I could see if anybody was using one stage.
I've been listening to their studio albums for a bit now and decided to check out what they're like live. Holy shit... a whole ass super tight live band with new arrangements and little flourishes. These guys are just incredible. Underrated 90s act in any genre. Definitely a top tier 90s band.
💯🔥🔥🔥 Totally underrated! I don't understand it sometimes how they don't truly get their flowers. The sons of New Jack & the grandfathers of trap soul. #streamlineconnection #Jodeci4Life
I also forgot to mention that Swing Mob (Da band) doesn't get the credit either. Of course, all of it was orchestrated by Devante, but the musicianship was at a high level. Haven't seen another backup band play like that since. Even the band they have now can't compare.
Jodeci is one of the top groups I can’t get out of my mind; very talented ,sexy and soulful back in the day. I still believe in love but what about us?
These songs with a live band behind them are so much better than the studio versions. Cry For You especially because the studio instrumental is just a loop. It sounds so much more fleshed out here.
Jojo sung so effortlessly back then smh. It’s very unfortunate how things turned out, but I’m glad he’s voice had returned enough to still participate in the shows.
One thing I like about Jodeci is nobody is bigger then the group. Even though kci do the most it aint out of trying to out do somebody in the group he'll fall back if and when he got to
Auxiliary musicians enhance the band's performance by contributing to a fuller and richer sound. The additional instruments and voices also heighten the song's energy and excitement. With the song's complexity comes more intricate and dynamic rhythms, which adds an extra layer of intensity. #GOAT #timeless
I saw them on the Culture Tour with New Edition, but honestly, they need to get out with their own show as that snippet they were given to open for NE and Charlie Wilson not enough. This live version of "What About Us" is EVERYTHING!!
We the fans and me love your songs Cry for You What About Us & Feenin Jodeci your voice your music from the fans from around the world and me Besitos Jodeci _ "Jam Live" Concert
Right now. Wayna. It would have been a toss up 30 years ago. But Wayna voice has gotten stronger. I think. Kci had a stroke. Plus the cigarettes, Alchol and drugs takes a toll on you after years of doing it
Poor Dalvin is just like mike and Ron from NE got to let them talk to look like they doing something other than being background dancers. U like them not taking anything away from them but I can see why some go solo if they doing 90% of the work. They should get some bigger checks
I was there in 1994 age 19 with no kids , still here in 2024 with 2 grown sons now age 25 & 21 now they pumping Jodeci 😂! Amazing how history repeats itself
