Boyz II Men did sell a lot more records than Jodeci, but in comparing, Jodeci was indeed more soulful and street. However, both groups were dynamic in their own respected rights for the era and time they were born. In fact, both of their debut albums are going to be celebrating their 30th anniversaries. It just proves how quality never fades.
Sales doesn't tell the whole story. Boyz II Men appeal to larger audience mainly whites, while Jodeci was more street and soul felt to a predominantly black audience.
@@naz-kf2oh oh yea they most definitely can I'm not denying that. And they have hits. I really don't like comparing the two because they have two different styles. Boys I men was more I love you , appreciate your woman type of music that I love. Jodeci was that we fucking buck wild but I love you type of music. Basically thug love.
That's crazy, Jodeci music hit super hard and none hit #1 on the Billboard. Though the 90s had so many acts out hit #1 during the same time. R&B had so much talent out.
Boyz II Men were more welcomed especially by the white audience because they related to them. Jodeci was welcomed more by the hip hop community ( excluding Vanilla Ice) and more people of color that related to them because they were just cooler. Plus overall, still to this day you can’t compete with Jodeci. The difference is they did everything themselves. Production wise, lyrically, remixes, collaborations, discovering artists, style wise and etc. They were described as 4 Tupac’s that sang. 🤷🏽♀️ ain’t nothing wrong with hood love and ain’t nothing wrong with Carlton banks love. It’s all about how you grew up and what you could relate to tbh.
Absolutely love Boyz To Men and Jodeci... But Boyz To Men will destroy Jodeci vocally hands down... Now Jodeci was a more self-attained unit, they wrote/produced/arranged their own material... As with BTM using big name producers to help pen their hits, both groups had the formula but BTM had the golden voices!!!
False on both accounts. B2M had 3 lead singers and all brough something different to the table. Jodeci was KC AND JoJo as leads and both played a vital role.
I disagree a lot. I see what you’re going for there in terms of goodie goodie vs. badass, but both Prince and Michael were huge crossover stars. It’s not the case that Prince didn’t have the love of both Black and White audiences, as with Jodeci (a talented group, albeit). Also, Prince and Michael were both weird, and that weirdness sold them a lot of records.
