It would go OK right up until one of the guys started giving her shit, then the entire thing would break down. Maybe at a supermatch where things are supposed to be a little WWE-ish, it would work. But at a tourney like this, it would just be asking for trouble.

I understand Jodi's point but she's at the wrong event for this. You're at a tournament and at a NATIONAL tournament for that matter. It is true that this was the match people wanted to see, but you have to understand this is not a supermatch. Imagine every random matches settled on fouls were to see the winner claim he wanted to do it anyway... this would take eternity and completely put the rules of our sport to shame. Supermatch format, im all up for it, its a show, its about the competitors. Tournament format, its primarily about the rules. The organization made an absolutely professional call in retrospective.

All he's saying is if you treat every match like this match, and have every match have a winner absent fouls, the events will be exponentially longer. Not only is that not a trash opinion, it's a factual statement. Why have rules for the sport if they aren't meant to be followed? Everyone wants to see a winner but I'm not going to pretend like fouls aren't necessary, particularly in large tournament formats where you have to get through hundreds of matches in a day. What you meant was "I disagree" next time just say that instead of telling someone their perfectly rational, objectively correct opinion is "trash".

Exactly. what is the point of running an event with strict rules only to abandon one of them for a finals match? Doesnt matter what the athletes thinks. Sure they can pull after not for the title, but it would completely undermine the entire event to change the rules for one match.
