Eve's life as a spy is not adding up to what she had hoped it would be when she started. She is a bored, very smart, MI5 security officer who is very desk-bound. Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is a very talented killer who clings to the luxuries of her job. Eve and Villanelle go head to head in a fierce game of cat and mouse, each woman equally obsessed with the other as Eve is tasked with hunting down the psychopathic assassin. Comer stopped by to tell us about her new BBCA series, "Killing Eve."

The most brilliant thing about Jodie Comer in Killing Eve is her ability with languages and accents: French, Italian, Russian and posh English. Why didn't the boring intererviewer ask her about that?? 😣

I can honestly say her Russian accent and speaking was horrible. The accent was better. As for everyone else their Russian was really shit. Could hardly understand anythings. But love the show still!

LakiniR9 i totally agree! My point is that since I speak french, her french sounded butcher to me as for you, her mandarin sound butcher too. It’s not that she didnt speak well, more that as a francophone I had a hard time understanding my own language, because certain sounds are really hard to say like the « r ». I really admire her tho, she is a great actress !!!

Her acting is truly amazing. Watching her here, she is so completely different from her character.. even just in the facial expressions and mannerisms. She really brought Villanelle to life and made her a character you can’t tear your eyes away from.

Jodie is a total sweetheart. Witty & adorable. She brings that adorableness into her character Villanelle. Although V is insane, psycho, brutal, she is also funny, weird, bizarre. She acts with her facial expressions. With her "catlike eyes". Jodie and Sandra are brilliantly amazing. The show is so bloody addictive.

loved her amused complacency in all the horrendous assassinations . Its almost Tarantinoesque but less predictable . She is the most charismatic and charming nutterette I have ever seen . If she supports Liverpool ( as opposed to Everton ) then I need to marry her very badly.

Its a French accent, actually. Her character is from Russia, yes, but French is her favorite language, along with Paris being where she resides and her favorite place, so her character took on a French accent, also as a way of hiding who she really is.

Is there a big difference between a Liverpool accent and a Manchester accent? The only two I can distinguish so far is the Essex accent and what a lot of North Americans call the "posh" accent

Actually Killing Eve is what I watch to lighten up myself from that dark and depressed feels I got with Handmaid's Tale. I mean Killing Eve is more cheerful and addicitive while Handmaid's Tale is so hard to watch at times.

It’s an industry practice, if you work in TV/film the networks and studios send out screeners early to get notes from critics and also for reviewers to write up their pieces before the show airs. Netflix and Hulu also send out all episodes since their filming schedules do not parallel their shows airing schedules.

Wow, she is one of (it not the most) talented actress of our time... The facial expressions and the mannerism is so different from Villanelle, it kinda freaks me out. They're completely different persona. How is that even possible? And her ability with the accents/languages, really impressive. Looking forward seeing her in other projects.

Rewatching this and oh my god she has grown so much since these first interviews for KE season 1. Now she’s so much more confident in her craft (if you compare this and the other BUILD vid, you can hear her voice is kinda shaky) and so much quicker in her answers. Always been glowing tho, love you queen.

She is awesome! I love her natural voice, she sounds so sweet. She can even do a different British accent on the show, and her Russian accent is amazing and the different languages she speaks in the show. Until i did some research, i thought she was russian. Can't wait to see where this show goes. Love her.

She did such a great job. Very clever to how we as the viewer came to like the character - she was so complex and cruel but she has intelligence, humour and vulnerabilities which i guess is what what won us over. I loved the show and had just the tiniest crush on Villanelle !

Jamie Murta yes! The filming is really stylized nicely. The scene when she breaks the bus stop glass then the camera pans on the ground to her walking away I thought ooooo that's different. Tv often has many cuts vs being smooth. And her character is great. In a way she reminds me of a female Dexter but oddly more likeable/charming. And I wondered if the thumb ring is because the character is likely bi.

Novella Cinephile television these days seems like it gets comparable budgets to movies. This was filmed beautifully. She’s so bad ass and cool I feel like I’m rooting for both sides. I think what made the show for me was that creepy smile of hers, it made her so interesting.

The Villanelle character sort of makes me think of what Mathilda, the young girl from the film Leon (1994) would have ended up as when she grew up. He was training her to be an assassin at the end of the film.

I can’t stand Dr Foster. No character warrants sympathy. Practically everyone is insanely selfish on that show. Yet Jodie does a great job in it (of course) and I find it interesting she constantly plays roles very maturely and composed. I think Jodie seems older than she is because she’s so together. Reminds me of Claire Foy. Younger than how they present.

I know, I was shocked. Surely it didn't go to sandra cos she's American? You know what they're like. It's wrong they failed to reward such a corruscating performance - I thought villanelle was Russian and it turns out jodie went to the same school as me in liverpool! Yip great acting,brilliant series .Watch Bodyguard starring Richard Madden playing David Budd ,another great series on BBC, he’s Scottish with his Glasgow accent adding grit to a must view series.
