We didn't need to. He only had to stay healthy until ingauration date. He is the stronger candidate among democrats in the swing states. The day of the debate and the day after he was talking full sentences and he might be slow and a stammer but his ideas are sound. People don't forget Hilllary Clinton. People assume that the impopular guy couldn't win, but he won due to the swing states. I don't see Kamala winning the swing states where many old voters still prefer people like Biden. There's a reason Biden defeated all his challengers EASILY in both primaries: 2020 and 2024. And he got more votes than Obama because many white people prefer to vote for old white men. Kamala needs to be declared the Presidential candidate NOW and they need a centrist, not a liberal, as her running mate or the voters in the swing states won't come in force to vote Blue, they will abstain, vote 3rd candidate or vote Trump.

It wasn't ego. Biden knows he is the stronger candidate, it was the elites who stopped backing him with his donations, but I for one was Ridin with Biden, as a conservative I will have a hard time voting for Kamala or any of the more liberal blue prospects. Biden might have had a bad debate, but his ideas are clear and he had more going than any other candidate. He killed it in the 2020 and 2024 primaries no other hopeful came even close, he has a track record as president of undoing all the terrible things Trump did and he is the president with most votes in history, even more than Obama. He knows many of us wanted him as candidate and if I could, I would have organized a Rally to Washington DC to ask democratrs to stop trying to convince him to resign. Many old people who would happily vote Biden won't come for Kamala, maybe even go for trump IN THE SWING STATES. Of course Korey living in Austin can see how people are in PA and MI but Kamala who never won a single delegate when she tried to earn the nomination back in 2020 might face worse challenges than Hillary clinton. People in certain states won't vote for a woman and even less a woman of color, but they would have voted Biden because he is of the old school of politics that are still popular in many towns of the swing states.

As a conservative (a true one, not like those MAGA's that follow a false messiah) I not only voted Biden last campaing, in both primaries and general. I made my family vote and volunteer. But there's no way I would have done anything for sanders. There's a reason we got stuck with two older candidates. If you're talking about illegal immigration specifically (usually how this goes), last I checked illegal immigrants pay more into the system than they take out because they have difficulty claiming benefits and pay taxes at higher rates than what they take out.
