One thing I have learned in my 64 years. People like to judge others, it makes them feel better about themselves. Keep rocking Billy, been a fan since my late teens. Squier!!
This is pretty damn good. I never thought a lot of Billy Squier in the 70's/80's, although I liked his songs. Really appreciating his devotion to his craft here...and of course a big shout out to Joe B and band for sharing the stage and of course for playing their guts out, , as Joe B's band always does.
Hey, Billy - Where's that '55 Strat you used to play in Boston back in 1972? That was some piece of wood and steel, man. I know you made it when you went to NYC with Maxanne Sartori, but I bet you remember the days of The Groggery, Bunratty's, The Channel and The Mad Russian et al. Those were rocking times, and I played with you on stage and in the studio quite often. Boton was a rock and roll town back then and you are one of the best to come out of it. Congrats, man. If I gave you my name you'd know what I was talkin' about but there's no need. Keep on pickin' and grinnin', you old Wellesley homeboy!
Mark my words, this Bill Squire kid is going places! Seems like he can sing and write great songs and play the 6 string! If we can get him an auto tuner and some overly processed tired r&b beat he will have what it takes to be a superstar today.
Squier "IS" the KING. Name a vocalist, guitarist ( lead / rhythm ), songwriter as skilled. Not one artist ( even Clapton ) can = Billy. And what, 65 y/o ?
I love Billy Squire, saw him open for Queen in 1982 BUT I wouldn't say he was tops over all,no disrespect to Billy but Joe Bonamassa is far more talented IMO. Richie Kotzen is another extremely talented vocalist/lead/rhythm guitarist multi-instrumentalist who sings AND plays a lot better than Billy. Look up "Regret The Winey Dogs Unleashed In Japan" or any other song off that concert and then try and tell me Billy sings and plays better than Richie Kotzen. don't get me wrong I'm not hating on or disrespecting billy in any way, just calling it like I see it.
I Love Billy Squier, love his music and he still has his awesome voice. He can shred too. Wish I could see him live here in Canada, would be so awesome. He should really be opening for Classic Rock Bands and touring with them, he would be such a great opener and new fans would be like who's this awesome dude haha.
I knew Squier was good but never knew he could Shred ? This is basic Blues soloing but you can tell hes got more tricks if he needed to really Rip it Up . Great duo performance ...
He was a big John Mayall Blues breakers air Clapton fan. That was less Paul and Marshall, the first time the world heard that sound the way Eric played it.
Billy is the real deal ....Joe is also the real deal ....I love these guys and Im amazed that Joe looked him up but not really . Joe Knows his guitar players , guitars and blues.
Billy squire is,awsome total badass from Wellesley mas, baby great songwriter always, loved his lyrics still do who's your boyfriend great rock in tune he did with piper and redid it solo both arrangements are great
Of course I recognize these guys are having a great fucking time, and Joe is a great guy to woodshed and learn technique from any day. The trade off solo is a lot of fun and it is the pay off of the entire jam.
Where are your videos? I would love to see you playing better than Joe Bonamassa. I really would. If you play at that level, there MUST be some video footage of you playing out there somewhere??? No?
fistsoffury james who gives a damn about the suit I watch a concert like this because of the MUSIC I'm not a fucking fashion critic The Magic is what they do with their guitars and that is what counts
That's a hilarious non-sequitur! It gave me a good belly-laugh - thanks! I find both Billy and Joe very talented, myself. It's a real pleasure to see Billy in particular tearing it up, here. Very happy to see his talent aging with class.
Thanks for posting, I'm tempted to take my guitar to the crossroads some night so I can play like Joe...but I don't think my brother-in-law the Jesuit would approve...
No, Billy Squier can play. Use to burn his albums (on cassettes) up while going to ski at Ski Apache. I say again, he can play. Very cool video. You’re lucky to be that close to those two. I saw Joe with Bloodline when they opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd and again at ACL Live for two nights a few years back. Didn’t like the fact that he played the exact same song list those two nights. Even told the same lame joke for both. A guy in the crowd gave away the punchline the second night. Lost respect for Joe that night for some reason. Billy wouldn’t do that. Would he?
yea your right, he should just stick to guitar playing...SO YOU CAN FORGET NO ONE HAS MORE BLUES NUMBER ONE ALBUMS...you lout...thats all Joe has done since he was a young bloke...he has stuck to playing his guitar his whole life...now listen next time instead of looking at him...its easier to hear that way...Toodlepip
sarah sarah You know Sarah...he is very technically proficient- very. But I see him nothing more than an updated Eric Johnson, Gary Moore, second tier blues guitarist that’s kicking ass in non-mainstream markets. A lot of his songs sound very unoriginal and follow the exact same pattern and use the exact same 'flairs' for lack of a better word to describe it to make the songs more interesting. It often sounds like he doesn't put a lot of passion or soul into his playing, HOWEVER I think that could be just because he's so technically proficient (and generically flawless) in his playing that he doesn't need to put that emotion into it, it's like his fingers just know what to do through years of practice. Yea that’s what separates him from the originals, Clapton’s, BB’s, etc. There’s just nothing unique other than him being technical great...and also him having been a child prodigy has been huge for him.
sarah sarah Oh yea...one more thing. Why don’t you use proper American english, rather than some old 18th century, proper Oxford dictionary word like Lout for Christ sakes. You Brits always want to use words with a “u” in it...trying to be more French (color does NOT have a U). So go back and insult me in current modern terms instead of pretending to be French. When Americans kicked your ass 200 years ago, we also pissed on your improper phonetic usage.
