Gordon Ryan forgot to mention John danaher's "brushing teeth" rashguard, "winter hiking" rashguard, "night at the opera" rashguard, and "intense seduction" rashguard.
I been watching his videos a lot lately and he is amazing. His guard and transitions are top notch. You can tell when it annoys opponents and gets in their heads
Gordon dismantled a high level guy I train with about 2 years ago. I`ve never seen anyone toy with a D1 wrestler like that. That`s a level FAR beyond my understanding.
People don’t understand how much of a freak you need to be to be a competitive D1 wrestler. Then to see a guy like Gordon just mangle them must be absolutely incredible. Not crazy fast, not crazy explosive, just the most technical and mental sound grappler to ever live. Gordon and John will have a legacy comparable to the Gracie’s and Bruce Lee 25 years from now, if not even bigger.
@@dagnut I mean you are literally the only person in this comment section to make such observations... not even a hint of gayness apart from you mentioning it perhaps you are projecting ?
I saw a Japanese judo Olympian who said something similar to this; that they are not going on the mat to win by points, they are only going after Ippon.
I have been looking forward to this episode since I saw it hinted at. There should be a full episode with all the DDS guys. Craig Jones and Gary Tonon are both hilarious.
@@tatertots0046 Why do you say that? The only info I can find of him online say his grappling record is 14-1. Almost all his wins by points. But maybe you have more info.
@@flipgsp he was undefeated at ADCC with no one ever scoring a point against him. He won 99kg twice, he won open weight once and he won a super fight. Beat 5 different ADCC champs
@@tatertots0046 You do make it sound more impressive. But I can't get past the fact he almost exclusively won by points. Seeing Gordon win almost exclusively by submission makes me less impressed by point fighters. Plus the fact that Gordons record on BJJ Heroes is almost at 100 matches (that's also where I saw Aronas 14-1 record) also makes me less impressed with Arona. I'll admit, I didn't experience the Arona era, but I am just finding it incredibly hard to believe Arona is better.
Essentially what Gordon Ryan described when he was describing the difference between their jiu-jitsu and everyone else's, is jiu-jitsu with a wrestling mindset.
The fight game is so complex, the best of the best study the previous greats and continue to build and add onto that style and changing the way people are being taught how to fight.
@@AguyR1401 Dillon is mentally legit too, Gordan doesn't have any integrity and accuses everyone else of doing roids "except him" lol. One look at his brazilian "girl" friend and you can see the steroid. Also Danaher is very experienced in steroids and probably is his advisor.
The way Gordon Ryan handled guys like cyborg abreu, Matheus Diniz and Buchecha....it's truly amazing that this kid is only 25 years old. I also personally think that Andre Galvao, who's another GOAT candidate, is seriously hesitant to grapple him.
I don’t suppose that includes the time Joe had with varisous peoples appendices in his mouth 🤣😂🤣 lol. Only joking they’re talking about some badass BJJ experts ❤️ &☮️ from 🏴 UK 😊🙏🏴
I'm obsessed with Gordon Ryan shout out from New Zealand man I always knew theres got to be ways to smash people in this game you and the death squad are the best I'm only white belt but I wish I could come train under John ahwell I'll get there and watch everything you guys do and post cheers
His interviews with Lex Fridman were even better. When he has someone asking him questions that are more on his level you see how truly brilliant he is. After the first John-Lex podcast, it had me searching everything I could find about the guy.
A truly respectful outlook about master john Danaher...true testament of a teacher is when your students ego is put in check cause they respect you like luke respects obi wan...rtrt...kia ora tungane john..kia kaha cuzz.....all the way from new zealand son dropping mad knowledge on the deserving youth
Ryan is the best right now but Roger is the GoAT. I would like to see Gordon face Buchecha again. Reminder: Roger came out of retirement and destroyed Buchecha in 2017
Definitely. It's hard for me to understand why he would (in his words) spend hours a day arguing with/trolling people on Instagram and tell people to kill themselves. Definitely lost me there as a fan
@@jeffsokolscoldpizza8997 Hes for sure playing into it though, hes just doing what Colby did before him, and what Chael did before Colby.. the thing with Gordon though.. he is actually better at getting people to hate him than Colby or Chael.
Neve know man ive never seen any of his striking but if his striking is half as good as his ground gane he could be a problem, but if all he has is a strong ground game you may be right. Fighters that are 1 dimensional dont do well.
Its always cool seeing black belts that are fading back to white, like the circle begins again. Or you can think about it in a video game way, like call of duty or other games that prestige rank up.
Crazy after a long haul without hearing or seeing much of Ryan I looked him up yesterday and today find that he's on Joe Rogan's pod. He needs to compete again whether in BJJ or MMA.
@@jimmac1739 Exactly. You see through his excuse. There's more money for him to transition to MMA. I'm sure Dana White would gladly give him a million dollar contract to fight in the UFC but he'd probably look similar to Kron Gracie.. In fact, that would be the fight to make in MMA! Kron Gracie vs. Gordon Ryan. Gordon could also go to Bellator and fight Dillon Danis and get a multimillion dollar contract along with great sponsorship. There's really no excuse. Why sit around and wait for BJJ to become a lucrative professional sport?! Makes no sense at all because I don't see it happening anytime soon. It's not in the Olympics yet, so why sit and wait when you could be making Millions in MMA? If a few years from now Jiujitsu becomes a lucrative sport then he could always go back to it from MMA. Excuses, excuses. SMH. He just talked himself out of ever becoming a good MMA fighter because a part of him doubts that he can make the transition and John Danaher planted that seed in his head.
@@fabes326 let me put it in simpler terms. If Gordon wins his weight class and absolute in gi, then he can be considered, “The Greatest Jiu-Jitsu Player” as Rogan puts it.
I can listen Gordon talk for hours. I'm a little old but just made half a century. Gordon Ryan is The Greatest American Hero. It was a TV show with the best theme song to describe Gordon. I am Gordon's biggest fan
