What is amazing is that despite age, alcohol and drug issues in his past and all the other issues of life, his voice is still this good in his seventies now. Amazing performer. Never heard a meaningless song or stupid pop tune from his lips. Wish youngsters would would hear these old folks instead of the young stars.
Still LOVE this verson of this song Tom. Now, sadly, I am facing my own death and thanks to you it will be played at my funeral. I am forever grateful. Thank you brother!!!
Joe Cocker is the solo legend to singing out to the world..a genius in words and wisdom far beyond others..Joe entertained like eating supper or dinner..right on time..never failed his fans and flew over the world to seek fame and fortune..but what he got was sensational and fantastic behind his name..great band with Joe..RIP
Even tho I have my own copy of this song, i still have to stop in from time to time to thank Tom Kane!!!!! Missing Joe and loving so much your respect for this man. Thanks again, Tom.
And sound turns into energy ! Pathos reflects in his voice____ a voice that shatters you deep within , sends your nerves trembling with pain. Joe Cocker lives on -------
This was such a beautiful performance the audience was mesmerized and didn’t make a sound. So wished I could have been there. No one could ever come close to this man.
What an awesome performer! Joe Cocker breathed life into so many songs, his versions of Dylan & Lennon songs at Woodstock are amazing. Rest In Peace Joe Cocker 💖💖
Just love Cocker's version of this classic. Hard to beat the original but I reckon Joe tops it. A great song, arguably the best ever, and Cocker's voice and soul lift it to another level. Just beautiful. Nice upload ; thank-you.
My #1 rock and roll man! Whenever I turn on his music I just groove!!! 1988 was the wrong year . I know I'm an old soul. I know it!! There will be an answer, let it be!
Sorry it took me so long to respond, this track is from his album 'Joe Cocker!' released in 1969. I have no what venue it was recorded at, but the entire album has some great tracks. I took this version of of his 'Long Voyage Home' release, it is a 4 disc compilation of his work, very well-worth the price, I highly recommend it.
Tom, thank you so very much!!! I was able to order the 4 cd Long Journey Home off Ebay and got this version of "Let It Be". Thank you my friend!!!! Much gratitude!!!!!
no worries, man...and thank u very much for replying...by the way, i really like the 'rock & roll heaven" tribute vid on your channel..very beautiful, man...got a tad bit teary when i was watching the vid, all those great musicians gone, BUT will never be forgotten...cheers!
What album is this on....i've tried to find it. I have heard it's from 1969...but when i listen...it is not the same. His voice is not as beautiful and magical. I want this version!
'Let It Be' was on his 1969 release 'Joe Cocker!' as a b-side to another song. I took this version from his 1995 compilation 'Long Voyage Home' which was a 4-cd set..a great one if you can still find it.
@@TheGrabsplatter Thank you. I tried looking it up on another album and could not find it. I will try to ebay this one. Really, in my opinion, his best version of this song by far!! Thanks again!
I often wondered why it is that way with the Americans: Recorded live at the Fillmore West - whennnnn? The world have suffered a lot from the common American absent sense of history.
Best versions of this song are The Beatles/Cocker/ Ray Charles / and Richie Havens ( voice is amazing but unfortunatley corny 80s keyboard ruins it 😣... BUT LISTEN TO RICHIES COVER OF " IN MY LIFE" his voice is great but unfortunatley instrumental could be better)
