And thanks from me too Bob! I was a junior in high school when I saw this tour. I think we had 18th row seats. It was tremendous. That was superstar Leon Russell in the top hat and guitar, super drummer Jim Gordon, Jim Price and Bobby Keys on trumpet and sax (they went on to play and tour with The Stones). A lot of the band and singers were part of Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, a band I'm HUGE on. This is a cut from the movie, which is a must see. Sal, so glad you got to experience this!

Wow! Look at all of those strs along with Joe, Leon Russell in the top hat, and a few others as wll in the Band. This was written and recorded by The Beatles. Joe asked them if he could record it, and they said sure, it's fine. It surpassed the original version, and Ringo (the original singer) said "I guess it's Joe's song now." They were all good friends.

Sal, I hope you give a watch to the Woodstock performance at some point, just on your own time. The film of this tour, Mad Dogs and Englishmen is worth a watch sometime as well. Many of the songs are the encores of shows and are absolutely phenomenal.

I get so angry every time I see the great Joe Cocker. He has never been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mainly because of Jann Werner who was on the selection board. If you notice the guitar player wearing the Top Hat. That is Leon Russell also a great performer. You should react to him too. It took becoming old, having a stroke to be nominated. Thanks to Elton John. He went to see Leon. And he collaborated and they wrote a song together. Elton made a documentary of this. I think it was the next year Leon Russell was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Over the years Billy Joel has been trying to get Joe Cocker nominated. He also made a documentary for Joe. He even honors Joe by playing a song at his concerts. That Jann Werner is dead now and they are still ignoring Joe Cocker. Thanks for reacting to this version. 😊

Omgosh Salvo .. I swear i typed my other comment here b4 I even watched ur reactions. We said one of the same things! Anyway I wanted to add the Woodstock version u can hear more of him singing w/o thr background singers. For me here those background singers are toi much in the foreground when they get cranked up. Also it was a big thing back then that many guys & some girls even played air instruments during rock. Admittedly thr 1st time I saw JC perform, I thought there was something wrong with him (young & dumb😉). But as I reached adulthood, I realized he was rocking so hard that he was letting all the rhythms run thru his body & exit into him playing air "everything"! Anyway not sure which version you'll like best but me .. I'm going with Woodstock. Could have something to do with the 1st time I heard him perform this tune, it was Woodstock. I just cant seem to deviate from that version. But mainly it's those backup singers, they really interrupt the rocker flow for me to the point of irritating to my ears. Ok so u give that one a listen & see how like it. Great song/artist choice Bob. Thanks Salvo 🤘🏼🙂
