As you saw in the last video, we went over the cooling upgrade project for the Big Green Machine, that slick 1968 Pontiac GTO! This classic muscle car is far from stock, it has a 462 cubic inch powerplant that puts out over 600 horsepower and is driven quite often. The current setup was a pair of really good electric fans with an aluminum stock style radiator and a stock water pump. That setup was decent, but in warm weather, stop and go traffic, and a lead foot, it was not keeping up with the cooling. That's where to Wizard radiator and FlowKooler water pump come in!
In the last video, we removed all of the current setup and started to inspect parts. We discovered the water pump plate had corrosion and needed to be replaced. No big deal, we got one ordered up and it arrived fast! In this video we begin the assembly process to get it back on the road and cooler than ever, Joe Cool style! Installing the new radiator was a breeze and we used the old dual fan setup from the previous cooling system. The nice part about that fan setup, it is temperature controlled through the Holley Sniper EFI system. It is very easy to program and works like a charm!
By the end of the night, everything was put back together and almost ready to test. Seeing we used a little sealant on the water pump, it is best to let it cure for about 24 hours before we add coolant and test out the new system. Cliffhanger right?!
