My gf and I saw him in concert in Corinth, MS a few months ago. He was putting on a show when he fell on stage and hurt his leg really bad. He could have easily walked off stage and noone would blame him but he continued his set. While he did not move around much cause he was clearly in pain, he was still amazing! RIP Joe Diffie we will keep you memory alive through your music and stories!
Went Turkey hunting in Velma Oklahoma with some friends a few years ago. They knew Joe's mom and she was still in the old home place. We were welcomed over to fish in their pond. The whole time all I could think about was Joe's hit song "Home". Although Joe didn't right the song it was no doubt such a hit due to the heartfelt passion that Joe put into it. I'll always believe the "Swimming hole and a fishing pole and the feel of a muddy road between my toes" took Joe back to the very place I stood in April of 2018. Although I never met the Legend, I'll always be thankful for the time I walked in his shoes and saw what he saw. And now when I hear that song I have two homes to reminisce about.

This song has always brought a tear to my eye but today it brings several tears to my eyes after hearing the news that We lost Joe Diffie today. I love this song RIP Joe
True that. And thanking God the rest of us are 'still in the game'. I know this is the song that will be in my head this Memorial Day. So profoundly sorry....and another of my music heroes is gone in an instant. RIP, Joe. You are remembered.
Joe, this song has always meant so much to me. I lost my mother to a drug overdose and my father left when I was 6 months old. I have waited for many ships that should have been safe in the harbor but were sank from the trials of life. I love you Joe, I pray that you are in the arms of a loving God. I pray that all your ships have now come in.
Rest in Peace Joe Diffie! "Prop me up beside the jukebox if I die Lord I want to go to heaven but I don't want to go tonight." Well, I'm betting you are in Heaven tonight.
You know it my friend and he's singing with the angels 💔💔damn you China for letting this virus become a pandemic 😡😡so much death and heartache you have brought to the world. God Bless you Joe, we'll miss you...

There's so many people that are locked inside them selves and can't get the help they need, and our families and government lock them away to be forgotten about an out of the way
❤ So here's to all the soldiers, who have ever died in vain. The insane locked up in themselves. The homeless down on main. To those who stand on empty shores, and spit against the wind, and those who wait forever for ships that don't come in. 😪
@@MsThorne2009 I saw him sing this LIVE ...He held that last note FOREVEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR so long I thought he was gonna pass out . He is great !
It broke my heart when i heard of his passing. His music helped me through a very rough childhhod and was my solice. I was abused by my father and when my grandfather got me he sang me one of Joes songs while I went to sleep that night. The world has truly lost such an amazing soul, but heaven has gained back one of their angel. Thank you for the years you gave me with my grandpa and your music
I love Joe diffee music ..what I don't get is why the radio stations don't play the old good country music songs anymore ..everything's new..I miss the good ol days music..
My area has a station that plays this type of music all the back to 50s country. I have heard the likes of Hank Williams Sr and Roy Clark to Joe Diffie and Aaron Tippin.
Most stations have contracts of how many new songs they have to play and sti play what keeps the biggest gathering and that's modern. Unless there is a calling for the classics they won't except maybe here and there by special request
It was the best of country music to me, I'm not a big oldies fan. Thankfully, most of the 90's guys still tour and pass through my area pretty regularly. Clay Walker, Travis Tritt, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Lawrence, Clint Black, Diamond Rio, etc. And of course Garth. I think Joe Diffie was going to be here this year or just had been before this mess started. Never got to see him live.
That and his overeating! I think all the food producers should rot in hell as well! Hell, I believe the corona virus was just laying in wait for ol' Joe!
He was one of those lesser "popular" country singers of the 90s when compared to stars like Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, etc.. but I challenge anyone not to know every word of every Joe Diffie song. His voice and his songs were the soundtrack of the 90s. I'm in tears. RIP Joe Diffie. Thank you for the beautiful music and the amazing memories your music created in my life.
Instead of spending millions of dollars trying to fix other countries problems we need to focus more on the many homeless and "insane locked up in themselves" veterans right here in America first. Just my opinion. Thank you Joe Diffie for singing such a powerful song and reminding us to keep our priorities straight.
LoveAuntAshley yep, all that due to high tech covert technology to make people "insane locked up in themselves" and if that doesn't work, a gag order to protect the criminals. Either way it's a puppet show. surveillanceissues.com
I have sowed my oats in my lifetime and now that I am single for a good bit this song can bea a great motivator and make damn sure you don't miss your ship ! I'm already going on 57 and better take life abit more serious! Thanx Joe 👍

I wish I could find a video online of him singing this at the award show where he held that last note in "forever" forever. I will never forget watching that.

i think this song is an awesome observation of a person's perception of the old drunk at their local bar. he's sitting there reflecting on his sacrifices, and paying tribute to them by thanking god for all he has,and feeling sorry for those less fortunate as he is. i think we'd all learn a lot from that old man at our local bar when it comes to something like this.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. This is real country music, through and through. The melody is beautiful, the rhyming is perfect. I have had some very hard times in the last few years and I am still waiting for my ship. Of course I am afraid if it ever comes in, it will have a hole in it and I'll sink 😕 Many times when I feel sad and down, I listen to this song and it helps me to keep going. Sometimes I wonder, will my ship ever come in?
Your comment was as emotionally powerful as the song's subject matter. Personally, I had the chance to be a pall-bearer at my cousins funeral, 19 gun salute, TAPS, flag-folding , the whole nine yards. So, God Bless the memory of yourgreat grandfather and you
I'm very sorry for your loss. It's a very hard thing to handle when a loved one passes from this world. May God Bless and watch over you. My brother was also in the Navy at the time this song was out. I couldn't listen to the song at the time. I cried myself sick listening to it. My brother made it home. As it turned out, my brother loved this song!!

I met Joe one time in Nashville years ago. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He actually stopped and had a conversation with me. I wasn't starstuck at all. Just a displaced Okie talking to another fellow Okie. His music will live on forever but his character will always be his legacy. I hope they have guitars in heaven.......
“The insane locked up in themselves”, this song has always reminded me of my older brother he has Schizophrenia since his senior year in high school, his ship never came in and he never had his chance, R.I.P. Joe
RIP to my friend Leon who drank himself to death over the grief caused by the loss of his father when my friend was 16 years old. I will carry forth your memory in the work that I do with the less fortunate around me.
I love his music but I hadn’t realised just how much of it I know. I’m not mourning his passing I’m celebrating his extraordinary life. You’ll be missed Joe but thank you for leaving us all this music

When this song came out, I was the young kid listening to the old man. Now, I'm the old man reminded that as hard as this life was, it was still a good life overall, and "[I'm] in the game." *raising my glass* Thank you, Mr. Diffie
Wow that really tugs at your heart strings I just want to salute those who lost someone in war and those who served in war thank you for fighting for our freedom in the United States of America 🇺🇸
It is possible I misunderstand the true meaning of the lyrics but I always understood it to mean all war is insane and all those who died in one died in vain. All the wars in my lifetime have been money wars, oil wars, and opium wars. 1955-present
This simple song and this tragic loss due to a virus just reminds us of the game of life we are all still playing. This shouldn't have happened. R.I.H Mr. Diffie.

He was such a beautiful trooper and had a great voice that was worth listening to. Now he can sing to the Lord. Go fly with the angels my friend you will be missed.

This song was just playing on the radio. I thought it was Joe Diffie, but I wasn't sure. I loved it as a teen who knew everything. I love it as an adult who knows absolutely nothing. I still can't believe you've left us. RIP.

Rest easy now Joe! I know you've been gone for a while now but I was very sad to hear about your passing. Your music was a staple growing up and you were without a question one of the best. Love this song. You were a blessing in this world.

still one the greatest songs in my book.... saw a video of Toby Keith his last sing this tonight.... I can only hope that Joe and Toby are singing it ..........
This song reminds me of my brother. Who was mentally challenged. He was killed by the hands of people who suppose to help. I listen to this song when I think I have had a bad life. Just to remind me I have nothing to complain about. I'm still the game. Love you brother.
