I'm a PIMO since Oct. 1995, when in a Watchtower study the WTBTS began the silly 'Overlapping Generation'. Right now, my relatives and even some friends know I have serious reservations about the Org. So, I'm softly shunned... I find out of social gatherings and parties afterwards, no invitation for Us... I feel so sorry for my dear Hubby because He's a true hook-line-and-sinker JW, but my lukewarm behavior towards all things JW affects Him 😢 The older I get, keeping up the PIMO charade is difficult... But, I don't want to lose my Family and lifetime friends... Thanks. ❤❤❤
Full disclosure, psychologicsl violence must be written into the criminal code. So-called religions have violated many wonderful people to the highest degree.
Hi @Joeandfran i just wanted to thank you for connecting me with Stef and also Jeannie from RI. I'm not much into the social media and exjw groups, but it was nice to connect and exchange "war stories" of our struggles after leaving the Org. You are wonderful people facilitating the human connection we all need to heal from our various wounds and feel whole and well again. I'm happy to be available if anyone needs to talk to someone who went through the excruciating pain and survived in tact.
Thank you Cindy! We appreciate your support and willingness to reach out! We will be having a Meetup in Rhode Island in the Spring! We will keep you posted ❤️
A few years ago I almost went back just to please my extremist jehovah's witness parents. At the same time I was doing deep research about the jehovah's organization. I only lasted a few months and exactly like Gary I wrote my voluntary resignation letter which gave my reason that I couldn't live with my conscience and be associated with this religion. I am 66 years old now but I faded out in the 80's... today I am shunned by all my extremist jehovah's witness family except my daughter and brother. Luckily I have a beautiful granddaughter and daughter who are very much in my life. One thing I see very common is the destruction of family ties. I have a saying, by their fruits we can recognize the spirit that they are running with.
Joe, I love your analogies about leaving! "Some people wake up, but dont get out of bed." Some people wake up & realize that the Kingdom Hall is on fire!" That happened to me. The hall was on fire...& I ran like hell to get out of there! There is no going back into the burning tower because they have ruined their own name. Its just a matter of witnesses finding out about it And there is the one you use about finding yourself in a leg hold trap. You have to chew your leg off to get free...but the leg will grow back! I loved the answer one caller-in gave to the elders inviting her to a judicial meeting. "Sure, we can do it at the police station!" That is priceless!
My aunt lives in San Diego! She was born and raised in the JW cult. And was disfellowshipped and never went back. She is the BEST! I think it is great how you are connecting so many wonderful EX Jw's!! My heart breaks for Stefanie!!
Thank You for all of your hard work. I woke up in 2021 after I had reached out to a JW group in Europe, a small group with the same mindset that I since everyone in my congregation blindly followed instructions by the GB. It was so refreshing to connect with people who have the same thought patterns, someone in this this German speaking group brought up Watchtower's "UN NGO Membership", which in turn started our research into Jehovah's Witnesses/Watchtower with eye opening and hair raising results. I am happy to report that all in the group eventually disassociated from the cult.
After having joined a club, an association, a political party or a religion, if I decided to leave one of these memberships would I have to fear being ostracized by all the members who adhere to it? No, of course. It is nevertheless possible that certain members, for reasons of their own, decide for themselves to no longer be around me. Exercising individual freedom is a fundamental right. If I decide to no longer be around this person or that other, this falls within the framework of my individual freedom, now if the governing bodies of a group asked all its members to cut all contact with anyone who leaves the group then freedom individual would shamelessly trampled on in favor of a policy of ostracism which would contravene the fundamental rights of men. For Norwegian justice there is a big difference between exercising one's individual freedom and being "forced" to follow a policy that would ostracize all those who decide to leave a group. The lawyers of the Watchtower society try as best they can to mix these two notions (individual and collective) in order to drown the poison and make the contours of this individual freedom vague as possible and this for the sole purpose of mitigating the responsibility of the Watchtower towards its own policy of avoidance. Fortunately the Norwegian Justice did not fall into the trap.
Great meeting you all the other night. I may have used too many word whiskers but I was a little nervous calling in (was thinking should I or should I not). I think when Joe mentioned about not idling on a bicycle. First time is always the hardest but I think next time it will be easier when I login.
Thank you!!!🤗 Is there a way to adjust the sound? I don’t know how to make the guests not so loud. I can’t hear the host if I turn the volume down on the guests.✌️
