Dear Friends We are very thankful to the Watchtower Society for teaching our family God’s direction for us and the hope we hold for our lives and that of our friends. However, when a member expresses any questions about Watchtower policy, teachings or directives, the member is met with potential discipline and frequently, resulting in what is termed as “disfellowshipping.” Immediately, all members are directed to “shun” them, that is, effectively cutting off all communication with them. They immediately lose all physical, social, psychological and emotional support that is critical to their health and welfare. This organizational practice of Spiritual Bullying has no place in the Christian Congregation, let alone in civilized society. In glaring contrast, love directs us to show the kind of love and attention that Jesus displayed when he was present, loving them, not shunning them. We are actively raising awareness of the high rates of depression, suicide and violence among our disfellowshipped and disassociated friends. They have been and are presently being shunned by all congregation members, including friends and family. We invite you to join us in displaying true friendship in raising awareness of this present human rights crisis. We are finding much support in our community for the need to end this inhumane, destructive religious practice. Tragically, shunning produces victims. Therefore, the Christian principled practice of extending love and active support to those affected is what we are promoting. We invite you to share in the joy this produces for all. Until The Watchtower Society makes the required changes, we are completely removing ourselves from any involvement in it. Our focus is on showing the needed love and care for all our friends. We invite all to share in this. And to put an end to shunning immediately. Sincerely,

To the other side of the story. I was friends with Joe and Fran for quite a few years before their relationship with JW. In fact, I met them when he was a counselor at the college I attended. After they joined, I lost touch with them. I had no idea why until they contacted me through Face Book late last year. I'm so glad they got in touch with me but it's heartbreaking that their children have shunned them. It makes me wonder about the ways dominate ideology cloaks other heinous acts in the name of conformity.

I so love this couple!! They show that exjws are "real" people. How authentic they truly are. Also I'm so glad that Fran kept her marriage vows and chose her husband Joe over those buffoons (elders).

Thank you Fran and Joe for sharing your story. My husband and I are 49 and 51 and just woke up last year. We too are being shunned by our adult kids and therefore can not have contact with our 5 grandkids. It’s heartbreaking 💔. That aside, we are happier than ever and our marriage too is better than ever. Your story is so encouraging to us.

I love joe and Fran. I basically grew up in the same congregation. I bet they were there when I got disfellowship back in 2017. The name I went by back than was Bahthalawmae but after I turn 18 I just changed my name to Kevin. But I love Joe and Fran fried Doe, still have some beautiful memories with them. I’m so glad they are so happy now

I was in the Herkimer congregation with them in upstate NY! I thought about Joe the other day because of his clock repair business. I NEVER thought they would leave so this gives me hope for my mom who was my best friend. This is wild. Definitely going to reach out to them

I faced 2018 after finding out about Caz and Arc. My husband struggled at first, but after allowing himself to research he left 2019. The following 2 years were the happiest for us and our daughters as a family. Sadly, we lost my husband end of 2021 to cancer, but I will always be grateful for those wonderful two years. We'd had a good solid relationship anyway, but there was always the stress of doing more, etc. The relief we all felt was enormous.

I'm just at the 30 minutes mark of this video... Already I think what a marvelous couple they are...Best experience I have listened to for some time... I will carry on to the end...

Thank you for this channel. Thank you for this interview. I know being brave in the bold is not easy to do. I was disfellowshipped because after years of being beaten and the Elders telling me I have to stay with my abuser, I got a divorce. 2 years later I started dating a Ministerial Servant and we got married. We both got disfellowshipped. Being abused is pretty close to death. For the Elders to want me to stay in an abusive marriage was wrong. Then my hubby and I started questioning things after they were upset coming after us for my marriage issue. The Pagan issues for not celebrating holidays yet they have their main worship meeting on Sunday. The Jewish faith has kept the original Sabbath this is why they have their services the day they do. Sunday Sabbath is something caused by Pagans yet Watchtower Society allows that. So many other doctrinal hpocrises from there. I had been a Regular Pioneer for 15 years. I felt sick because I sold this lie to so many. For anyone who is shunned by family, you have a family now ❤️

I loved your visit tonight. I want to be adopted too!! Only 59 so maybe we could just be brothers and sisters,as in family. :) I'm so happy I came across you tonight. O have been dfed for 13 years now and been married 40 years. We were born in and I chose to leave after being molested by my witness stepfather for years. I have been very vocal . It's a long story but I left and my husband stayed and it was tearing us to shreds and I Had to get our children out. I HAD TO. The fight really started. Ultimately I havent seen my inlaws since my dfing. We all live with in a few blocks. Fun times. My abuse did not stop with my step father. My mom is dying as we speak from altz and dementia, she was one of the remnant. Not one NOT ONE WITNESS VISITER for many years. Once they are done with you they throw you away like garbage. My life literally felt destroyed. I truly wanted to die. I couldn't see the light. This org kills people. My kids are free and I have grandkids that we celebrate everything with!! Life is great now and our family is together. I loved hearing you guys and I was also on the the podcast you mentioned. So we can all be family!

My parents are about your age and they are soft-shunning me (I did a hard fade). Their timeline and story was so similar to yours. But the reverse happened in my family, me and my siblings all woke up, not my parents. I SO wish they could see the things you guys could see. My husband and kids are also PIMI and it's such a lonely place. I needed to hear this so badly. Thank you.

My Dad was an elder till the day he died. Not till years later after watching 'apostate' channels have I realized what I suspected but could not verbalize. Even though I was disfellowshiped about 30 years ago....I was in a Cult!! My Dad never ' treated his wife like his own body'. They read this scripture a LOT but my Dad did not live by that scripture.

It makes me sick to the stomach every time they call themselves a RELIGION!! My heart hurts for you all! Great interview.

Sometimes you have to go no contact because those people are narcissists and abusive and/ or overstepping boundaries, knowingly or not, so to protect yourself, this is the only option. You can stay true to your core by doing this in a respectful and dignifying way, and it is very personal for everyone.

My friends! You can't imagine how I many time I went to Cort in NY to have simple visitation with my three children . They made me cry!

Im from Australia and at the time of the ARC we were all encouraged by the local elders to tune in and show our support for the org. It was eye opening for me to live through everyone's reactions, many felt those who were called to give evidence 'gave a fine witness' as they say, other reactions included being disgusted and 'stumbled' as that org also says..

Wow - the elders also asked me if I believed GB were the appointed slave and I immediately realized I should evade the question and instead answered that I believed everything that Christ teaches. They pressed me to answer their question but I said if my answer that I believed everything that Christ teaches was not sufficient to them, it was their problem.

Great story and happy your are both free. It is always difficult to still see your family still in not understanding that they being lied to. I basically text a letter to the elder I was closer to. In that letter I indicated that I didn't want anything to do with an organization that is guilty of thousands of lives being taken by men using unscriptural rules. My Daughter is still in and she was hurt but she needs to understand why I did it. I also text her what I sent. Joe I felt the same way you felt about these elders and wanted to hurt them for interfering with my family. However, These elders know they have no truth and they also know they are slaves to an organization and that is punishment enough. I am sure my daughter will eventually wake up and we will always be here for her. I figure the sooner I act the sooner she will react to what my findings and thinking process is. All we want is for all current members to be brave and research for them self..proof us wrong. The reality is that it will be very difficult for them to do so since there are thousand of evidence proving all their criminal acts. Shunning is their only solution... but the world is catching up to them.

We are not alone in how we feel about that horrible organization that is controlled by eight old men out of NY oh excuse me. Now it's ten old men aka governing body members.

Not many people know where the question came from, "Do you believe the Governing Body is God's Organization?" This question originated shortly after the Ray Franz debacle and the great apostacy of the early 80s. Prior to 1980, a JW could leave the religion and just be considered a person of the world. However, the great apostasy that started in Bethel caused a HUGE concern for the GB. They were concerned that the things that were bothering Ray Franz's conscience and other Bethelites who started having private Bible Studies in their rooms to examine the religion of JWs would somehow affect the flock. So, the GB made up a new rule to quickly cut off anyone who would speak out against the GB or the WTS. The elders were taught to ask this question of anyone who was questioning the WTS, "Do you believe the Governing Body is God's Organization?" Answer "no" and you were told that you would be DF'd and because of the "new" rules, you would be shunned, just as anyone else who was shunned for their sins.

If there is one think the ''organization ""🤮 hate the most ,is to have there precious reputation or image, tarnishes with ''Worldly" people. I think all marriages are difficult at the beginning especially we couldnt date long enough to get to know your partner that you are not in love with this person, I was told that I was selfish since he will be die and your son, so I got married it was 21 yrs. of hell for me, I never loved him I suffered, but my children only then I knew what real love is. I am out and found my LORD with BORN AGAIN they answer every question that anyone asks after a sermon, no elders etc. were all in one, no one is higher than another one, plus we use the JKV, BIBLE it was never changed after all these years the first Bible, cause JWS have never changed .
