This movie's soundtrack alone should have made it worthy enough to win at the Oscars for best animated feature film. The film as a whole truly is a masterpiece. The traditional animation and beautifully orchestrated music show how much heart, passion and dedication was put into this feature film. The Tale of princess Kaguya losing to big hero 6 bothers me so much.
+Travis Bickle Read this article and then you will understand why BH6 won agains this masterpiece: www.cartoonbrew.com/award-season-focus/proof-that-oscar-voters-are-clueless-about-animation-109456.html The Oscars voters are morons all the way.
I can´t still get over it, another standard disney movie winning...But oscars do not tell that much about the quality of the movie. Take this as example ;)
I read an article some time ago about that, and most of the judges didn't even watch all the animation films. Also some of them based their decision on what film their kids have enjoyed more. It's a shame
Fun fact: Joe was told to make an "empty" music and he made this. Joe really did a great job in this cuz i felt that After a long journey of music with strong emotions, the music without emotion breaks in just like those spirits that came from the moon without understanding the feelings of kaguya and grandpa and grandma. Well, in moon, nobody experience emotions of joy and sadness like human on earth does.
@@nooringorilla4004 "It's empty"... according to Buddhist. Leave every of your emotions (Hatred, sadness and even joyce, love...) behind and come to Shangri-la....
My fave moments 1:12 The glockenspiel 1:23 The harp 1:42 So peaceful 4:54 Epic 9:09 Let's fly away 11:18 Happiness & Sadness 12:35 I love the triangle girl 💙 12:49 The legend is smiling and enjoying his own music 💛 (Wish u good health, Sir Joe Hisaishi 😍)
At 11:30, Joe was told to make music that was empty. Those spirits from moon does not experience the emotions of joy and sadness like human on earth does and this music really reflect that very well. Before 11:30, you experienced human's different, heavy and powerful emotions filled with joy, excitement and sadness. Then this music breaks in.
That’s it! It feels empty. I literally felt sick to the stomach when this started playing in the movie. It’s beautiful but there’s just something to it.
Guys I watched Princess Kaguya last night, and I cant remember the last time I cried so much over a movie like this. I weeped for a long time. The moon scene is particularly the one that touched me. The music was brilliant, I could not bring myself to listen till the end of the credit. Had to take a pause, listened again and cried again. It was truly an amazing movie, I never expected I will feel so much emotions just by watching it. Amazing drawing, story and songs. And I am still sad over the ending 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Isao Takahata had a different style to Miyazaki. One embraces reality using visual metaphors that often alter reality. The other one uses much more fantasy elements to make a story. They are completely different and yet, they both gave an extremely unique personality to Studio Ghibli.
Princess Kaguya is truly the most underappreciated Ghibli movie EVER. Jesus..if I saw the soundtrack performed like this, I would be beside myself sobbing. "Masterpiece" is an understatement. Hisaishi is incapable of composing anything forgettable or mediocre. This is the kind of music that shines a light on every inch of your soul.
1000brokenwings it is truly a master piece. After all these years, I keep finding myself returning to this movie. It haunts me. Nothing has ever made an impact this big in my life.
I don't agree with you. I was nominated for the OSCARS and won numerous awards. It's a unique picture with a beautiful art totally different from classic Studio Ghibli films.
9:39 I love how the music sounds so beautifully fragile, full of hope. Also love how Joe Hisaishi smiles at the same time, with a true and sincere smile. Really emotional movie and soundtrack.
This movie is so underrated ergggggggg!!!! I just want to go down to the street and hand down poster, begging people to see this. I swear it would be much better than Avatar (Cameron movie) or some shit like that.
actually don't think Kaguya and Avatar can be compared (btw hating avatar is a real commonplace right now) but in the field of animation - it's a crowning masterpiece; and if animation needs some excuse for existence - this is it, they really should invent animation at least to make this work of human mind, heart and spirit.
Do you guys have some others non-popular animation titles to recommend? My contribution: Wolf Children, The Thief and the Cobbler, Les triplettes de Belleville, L'illusionniste, Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells
Every single time I hear this movie's soundtrack, I get lost in the world of what I and I believe many consider the true essence of Studio Ghibli. It truly is such a pity it stopped, but their place in history is more than guarranteed. Thanks you Mr. Joe Hisaishi, for you opened gates to distant hills, extraordinary creatures and marvelous stories. Hope you live long and utterly happy.
"Sprout" 1:42-3:40ish is just remarkable, Joe Hisaishi is a true master, Ghibli are just made for those who have a realistic heart and understanding how futile life really is x
The Tale of Princess Kaguya is a beautiful film directed by the great animator Isao Takahata. The ending is so depressing and painful that I wish there's a sequel. Soundtrack is emotional. Everything about it is pefection.
Tudo me tocou.
Capricho , delicadeza , espiritualidade , humanidade ... E ainda perdeu o Oscar. Lamentável
Saw this movie the other day and well,I thought it was as perfect as perfection can go. The music, the story, the original acting(voices)and the visuals....never saw a movie that every second was like a beautiful painting....love it.
I LOVE 10:17. Seeing all of those grizzled professional violin players swaying with the power of the music’s crescendo shows the magic of Hisaishi’s compositions.
Definitely worth two hours of my life and oh my goodness my entire life has been Ghibli Studio and Joe Hisaishi music. I am absolutely so grateful for these films and music.
These are the real creaters of those all soundtracks ....man I bow down to all of you ....u people are just....((speachless))...really I'm thinking that most of the people just waste thier time by watching all other movies and ignore that type of movies coz they conclude that it's anime movie so eventually it's cartoon...man..I'm just begging that atleast watch them ...the emotions..the essence ...the aroma of that creation will overflow your heart with peace.......well I'm not gonna fill that comment section but give it a try to all of them.
I'm crying buckets. and that's just half the amount of crying and emotions I feel then if i'm watching the movie. Masterpiece doesn't even cut it. Soul lifting is a more fitting phrase to describe both the movie and the score.
This is the best ever, I could listen to this for days and days 😍 Then again that's true for everything Joe Hisaishi.... the man is a genius! Vera from Simple Happy Zen
Love this soundtrack so deeply! I basically come back here every week to hear it in looping since first watched the movie 3 years ago. It makes me smile, makes me cry and also perform a microdance sometimes 🤗Hugs from Brasil!
11:19 brings an unbearable onslaught of the celestial celebration, which is too ironic and leaves you with mixed feelings - the moment is so poignant but is accompanied by such ‘happy’ music! I’ve played this over and over.
