I think him staying underground was not entirely his choice. However, he is a private guy so ... maybe. Only he would know that I guess lol. But I agree with you, he's very much admired for never alienating his core audience.
My Mom bought his album I AM JOE when I was 12. My Mom knew I loved music and she chose 2 albums for me Christina Aguilera and Joe. Let me just say, I was 12 having the biggest crush on this man not understanding what I was feeling. I am still obsessed....just old enough to understand now. My mom was crazy to give me that album at 12 ....lol. She said Joe was a good singer and I knew u must have been cz she was picky. As a Jamaican girl, Joe was one of my first albums.......His music calms me. Love this man and his body of work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How did I not know that he was performing in Brooklyn? 😒I mean, I've only seen him in concert three times. During one of the concerts, after I ran to the stage after avoiding security, he held my hand and sang to me. It was AWESOME!!
Favorite artist...what a singer!! Been trying sing like him since 1990 lol He blessed the stage real good here in Brooklyn. Stokley did a phenomenal job as well that night! That concert was absolutely awesome!!
Agree, Stokely had a great performance. Unfortunately I didn't know much of his music. It seemed like the crowd didn't either BUT... he performed his butt off. It was still very entertaining. I wish I recorded his set too but I was focused on being prepared for Joe.

Joe is my absolute favorite ❤️ I am currently undergoing a breast cancer scare right now. Have to go in for more tests. I’ve been wanting to see Joe live forever. I’m not putting it off anymore. DC in February or SC in March. Going to celebrate my birthday for the first time ever. Welcome to the F*** everyone in my 40’s.
My wife is actually a breast cancer survivor. We hope all test come back negative for you because we know this is definitely a scary situation. And we only have this one life Tracie so it's in our best interest to live it up. Go to that Joe concert if you can and enjoy yourself. He's a great performer and very humble if you get to meet him. And don't forget to sing your lungs out :-)
