I played with Joe’s grandson in N VA. He now owns that guitar in the video. He showed it to me at his home studio. Yes we played the song when I sat in with them for a gig. Very cool guy!

Speial made guitar by Semie Mosley called Mosrite. The pickups are Carvin AP6s, which haven't been made since about 1977. However, Bob Shade of Hallmark Guitars has done a great job of reproducing the original look and tone..as well as a single neck version of this guitar, trimmings and all. This is about the best sounding guitar I've ever heard.

This was #1 of the double neck Mosrite. Larry Collins had #2.

It don't get much better than this. I believe that's Gordon Terry on fiddle, a great singer in his own right.

I was born to late! I was maybe a baby or even a zygote when this was done, but it is how I play guitar to this day and about the only music I play! That guitar solo rocks!

I just shared hugs and God Bless You's with Rose Lee Maphis about two hours ago- Mrs. Country music herself. She is by far one of the sweetest, kindest ladies I have met and is a volunteer at the Nashville Country Music Hall of Fame.

One of the few guitar pickers who could make Roy Clark look like a rookie, saw an old episode of Hee Haw and joe just smoked on that tune he and Roy did. Roy was visibly in awe.

I think Roy was hamming it a bit - but the respect is obvious. Thanks for the note - here's the video (I think) to which you were referring: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F4WY-SaHn5w.html

Joe appeared on a local TV show back about 1958 with the Collins Kids and Johnny Cash among others. I think it was called Town hall party. Joe was sensational on guitar and fiddle. Anyone have a clip of that show?

I think it's funny that this song was written about Buck Owens and his Buckaroos
@rockinredneck57
@rockinredneck57 3 года назад
Not the Buckaroos. Buck was playing guitar and fronting a band in the mid 50s at a joint called the Blackboard. Joe came in one night to see him and they were LOUD because Buck was slightly hard of hearing. Lots of cigarette smoke and low lights and he has a hit song.

As good as this is Vern Gosdin made it his in the 80's. The slower version really sticks with you. Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers covered it in the early 70s too.

Junior Brown plays a GitSteel. It's a tele style guitar and a lap steel combo that sits on a stand. The one in this video is a guitar and either a tenor guitar or a mandolin. It looks like a tenor guitar since I can only see 6 tuning pegs...hard to tell as the video is kinda' grainy.
