Good God... what a difference a year makes. I've gone from Joe's biggest critic to being in awe of him. I'm so glad he has become available in his pressers this year. He has a great mind and attitude. I feel bad that I was so tough on him last year. Gone is the Camp Counselor... guy is a genius and has become so much more confident. Coach of the Year? Is there a Mazzulla jersey out there somewhere?

People are so selfish nowadays. They can’t just appreciate an exciting fun mid season game. This was a blast to watch. And the Cs fought and won. Much better than a predictable 40 point win. The best teams of all time had many off nights. Undefeated at home!!

Some of you might disagree with me, but I don't think we win tonight's game v Detroit if Joe is not coaching us. Listen to his answer about how to react to a game vs the Pistons at this point in the year with their record the way it is and you see that he had the right mindset from the start. Despite the topsy-turvy nature of this win, the experience is good for us in the long run. We overcame a 19 point deficit and got our first OT win. This historic losing streak brings pressure every night because on one hand no one wants to lose to Detroit but on the other hand, Detroit wants desperately to win, so it will never be too easy to play this team. On any given night the streak could be broken, glad it was not us.

Well said. Pistons fought really hard. I can see their desire to get rid of the losing streak. Their physicality on rebounding, attacking the basket were tremendous.

Well said! When you are facing a team that is trying to break their 27th losing streak, it will never be a walk in the park. They play with nothing to lose, and obviously taking out the top team should be on the mind of every player on that Piston team. Even bad teams can beat good teams on any day. This will be a lesson on how to respond and drive pressure on the stretch. If it was last year around this time, the Celtics would have lost.

I love Gary Washburn, but him saying that the Celtics would have nothing to gain, and everything to lose is extremely disrespectful to the Detroit Pistons. They are an NBA team, regardless of what their basketball record indicates. Over the last 2-3 years matching up against the Pistons, they've always been competitive and gritty to play against. And in my honest opinion, Jaden Ivy was probably the best player for the Pistons tonight, and if he doesn't foul, the Pistons probably would've won that game. Those 6 points he scored (the And1 drive on KP, the corner 3 next possession) showed unbelievable resilience and toughness. Alot can be learned from this game, and I'm glad to see the Celtics pull out a tough win against a team that hadn't had one in a long time.

@@MikeySkywalker no doubt. Because they really had us for a WHILE in that game. I will say Joe made a great decision by switching Prichard so he could have the ball more after that first timeout. Detroit was FAST and came with all the smoke and we were getting dusted left and right. What Prichard and the bench offered was speed and classic Celtics basketball, hands down. And if you notice, that was really the BEST from us that entire game. No struggling. No guessing. No getting fouls just to make up points. No, it was us doing what we do. Moving the ball with efficiency, beautiful defense, and not taking stupid shots. Drive the ball!!!!

He probably couldn't play all the players he wanted because the first unit just showed up. Didn't you hear the fans booing them. He's not putting in a guy who can't shoot when none of the first 8 could. What a path of embarrassment this team was on. I'm sure a lot of fans were ready to put all the blame on Joe n fire him. I was very scared for this game. The pistons are STARVING for a win, and Cade/bogey could be straight killers if they both have an on night. Cade has also been very hot lately with 2 recent 40+ games and a 30+ point half the other night. As Joe said the record they have only tells part of the story. The pistons came out playing like killers and the Celtics managed to hang in there and take an OT W.

I know Joe has to defend and support his guys, but Tatum's high volume, low efficiency performance was embarrassing and one of the biggest contributors to the near-loss besides bad rebounding and defense. JT plays best when he shoots less, especially those damn contested 3s. He forces terrible shots and today played like all time rim protectors were on the other team. Team needs to play through White-Porzingis P&R and have Tatum especially play more off ball and catch-and-drive when they aren't mismatch hunting. Tatum is a slasher, not a shooter. His offensive profile is closer to Giannis than Kobe or Devin Booker and yet he still thinks he's an elite shooter for literally no reason. Tatum is 122nd in the league in 3pt% but shoots the 12th most in the NBA. He is a bad 3pt shooter and his inefficiency is holding this team back from being all time good. He needs to buy into his strengths instead of flaunting his weaknesses by shooting a high volume of terrible lazy 3s

I love JT, but I think I'd like to see him take less 3s (agreed on those contested threes) and work more inside the 3 point line. He can get those layups and use his midrange jumper more. Once he gets in rhythm then the three will start falling and once that starts he can blow teams out. I have no doubt he will get better. The guy is a winner and will bounce back before long.

I am so MAD that we almost lost to THE WORST TEAM IN NBA HISTORY. We went to OT with the Worst Team in NBA History. Mazulla, JaysonTatum, and Celtics fans. You can't throw Jaylen Brown under the bus anymore. Tatum, 2/11 3s @18.2% from 3PT range. 11/31FG @ 35.5% Fieldgoal & 3Turnovers. 31pts in 31shots. Tatum disappleared against Timberwolves, JT disapeared against Pistons, JT disappeared against Toronto, bad win, JT disappeared against Grizzlies bad win we didn'tdeserve, JT looked Terrified against Steph GSW. All those got blamed on Jaylen Brown. Tatum 3pt against: Detroit 2/11, Lakers 1/6, GSW 2/9, Magic 1st game 2/9, Cleveland 3/10, Cleveland 2/9, NY 3/9, Pacers 2/8. That is 8 out of the last 10 games. In 4 games this season Tatum had 6to8 Turnovers. We overlooked it. Are we gonna forget selfish Tatum who gave D.White an extra TO at the end of the Lakers game? Joe Mazulla pushes everyone on the Team to be quick, decisive, and or move the ball except for Tatum who he allows stop everything. Watch the Celtics loss to GSW. JB and white were killing GSW until Joe put them on ice. Sacrificed a good game for Tatum iso-ball and we lost. I am so MAD that we almost lost to THE WORST TEAM IN NBA HISTORY!
