Joe Namath recalls the story of his physicians appointment, the Super Bowl that almost never was, and his relationship with Al Davis. #Namath #SuperBowl #AlDavis #Raiders #Jets #Undeniable
Joe's right. Every athlete, even older ones like me, wants to win a championship, and I have been blessed to win several. It's validation for all of the hard work and sacrifice you put in to have a shot at a title. Winning one is a truly wonderful feeling, even if only for a little while. Steve Young said it best when he hoisted the Lombardi trophy. "No one can never, ever, take this from you!" As for CTE, well, I played ball in the era when literally it was get your bell rung, wave the salts under your nose, "How many fingers am I holding up?" okay, get back in the game. I've had my bell rung a few times and the one thing that scares me to death is going the way of Mike Webster and who knows how many others but to be honest, I wouldn't change a thing about being an amateur athlete, except maybe get my head out of the way a little quicker. Do everything you can to keep your mind sharp and when you need help, don't shy away from it. Be a stand up man and go seek it.
Great question , who would have won ?. Could the MAD BOMBER beat the mighty COLTS. I call colts - 9. People forget Joe was getting pretty cousy with some of the up town types. A lot of money was changing hands and EARL MORRELL had some big time gambling debts to the wrong FOLKS. who knows.
Rugby players suffer from concussions and later, CTE. But if the NFL were to ban hard shell pads and helmets and use soft multi-density pads and helmets.
I actually have looked into this premise. Man. I know a lot of people on both sides benefited from the Jets winning the SB. But, a LOT of things have to happen to throw the game. Honestly, if I want to throw the game, you go for the Refs. and I did not notice any fishy officiating TBH. and Why would they put in Unitas at the end to try to win the game? That would be real risky. No One would have batted an eye if Unitas did not play.
