His character isn't much different from his normal personality. He just acts a bit more like an old man when he's in character but it's not like a huge difference.
I just love how he's only 34 but has the disposition and delivery a pleasant midwestern man in his 70s, sitting on his porch and will talk to anyone about mundane daily life for hours with subtle dry humor and it's always so heartwarming and refreshing.
I'm soo sad that Joe Pera Talks With You is cancelled. Best show on TV IMO. His show just makes you feel wholesome. I really hope someone else picks it up because it was a gem of a show.
Absolutely. The problem was that Season 3 didn't get even a third of the ratings of the first two seasons. Not sure what happened. It was such a well-crafted show that made you laugh without making you feel as though you were looking down on anyone. It was also just really pleasant overall, and in a way that didn't seem contrived. Entirely unique. Might be studied in film classes in the future.
Some people don't understand Joe Pera. Some comedians are inspired by beer, some weed, Joe is inspired by absurdly underwhelming humor. He is the most rebellious comedian I can think of. If he makes a line he probably ponders for a half hour to see how he could make it more mild, how it could hit like a bubble bath instead of a shot glass.
@backyardbread I don't think it was scripted. Seth switches to reading from a script when announcing the tour dates at the end. Definitely this gimmick interview was loosely planned, probably with a pre-interview, but I think many of Seth's questions, such as what the movie's budget would be and how audiences will react, were ones Joe had to improvise for. Even if it were scripted, though, that doesn't negate what the OP was saying about giving space. :-)
I am HERE for this energy between Joe and Seth 🙌 Give the man a regular segment on the show! Like, Joe comes on and teaches us about something his character would be interested in for five minutes every month or so. Or make him a correspondent of some sort 💕
He's such an amazing guy. I met him in real life and honestly the kindest, humble, caring celebrity.. I love his show, I'm sad it has to close but I look forward to his new stuff.
Please go see Joe live, it’s too good of a set. Crazy how he implements his improv material from his last two shows and comes up with this. Genuinely cracks me up when he’s laughing at his own jokes and almost breaking character
I've always said that every year Joe Pera has not been named *Sexiest Man Alive* is a tragedy. Seeing him in the coveted 007 role has me feeling vindicated. ❤️❤️❤️
He has that REAL-talk, one in a million, could take him home to mom kind of hotness. I see it. He also seems way out of our league. But in a: lets not ruin him kind of way.
@@thebritons This is one of the best explanations I’ve seen as to why he’s so dreamy 😍 he just seems like the type of person you’d date who is just happy to go on a little walk around town with you and would never raise his voice at you 🥹
I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken that Joe Pera talks with you was cancelled. 😭 Such an incredibly heartwarming and whitty slice of life. Hopefully the powers that be realize their (big) mistake!
@@js2010ish My friend recently switched meds and was in a suicidal spiral- he stayed the night, so I put Joe on for us to binge together and he finally got his first full night's rest in a week. Joe's a healer of the best kind. 💕
First time ever seeing this guy and I'm still shaking it off because it's as if he's doing a spot on impression of my father. The posture, the mannerisms, the pace and pronounce of his speech. Sort of creeping me out haha.
One of the worst programming mistakes I can remember in cancelling Joe Pera Talks With You. His comedy is the type of absurd comfort we all desperately need, I made a video essay about it a few weeks ago. More people need to know about him
I wasn’t fully sold on Joe until this interview. It’s one thing for him to just rely on The Way That He Is™️ to get a laugh. But he’s clearly a very competent comedian with a well thought-out persona and a strong grasp on what’s funny.
Joe Pera is the best! I’ve never seen him break character and laugh this much lol. I really hope his show finds a new home cause it’s such a wonderful, one of a kind show
This feels like a weird segment with one of the writers and I love it so much. So mad Adult Swim canceled the show because we just need more Joe in our lives.
Joe is so sweet and funny. He makes my head hurt from smiling and laughing so much. His show being canceled is cruelty to those of us who found a little joy in the decent heart and goodness of Joe Pera.
I was devastated when I heard his adult swim show was cancelled, but with the news of him playing the next James Bond I am on cloud 9! Truly when a door closes there is a hallway of doors ready to be opened!
i am so glad I discovered Joe Pera about two weeks ago. I wasn't sure what to think at first, but I dig him and the simplicity in his underrated humor!! Love you, Joe!
I don't know how or why I don't know who Joe Pera is, but I'm going to aquaint myself. I expect hilarity to ensue. And yes, he would be an ideal choice for James Bond (exclamation point).
@@matthowlett8091 Thanks Matt - I'm in the UK (a.k.a. That joke which isn't funny anymore), and found it on All4. Edit: just watched S1 Ep1. Am I supposed to be crying? I'm a sucker for this tone of show.
Joe Pera will be one of those figures that will get recognition like 20 years from now. His show was fantastic, just not enough people watched it. I hope it turns into one of those cult shows. Got me through some difficult times for sure.
I can’t believe they cancelled Joe Pera’s show right before the fourth season that would’ve ended it perfectly (each season has been based on a season, the fourth would’ve been winter). Terrible decision by adult swim.
I know Joe's comedy is entirely unique to him but after the dead silence following him saying "a thousand" it reminded me of the late Norm McDonald when he would appear on Conan. There was no victim of the joke, no slant or person the gag was at the expense of. Just a non-sensical bit to waste everyone's time. And watching Joe chuckle in self satisfaction that he had his fun is probably why he'll go down as one of the new greats. When you're on stage you tell to jokes to make everyone laugh and you write jokes to make yourself laugh, but when you manage to make both laugh I think it's the true magic of comedy. Big mistake on Adult Swim's part letting him go. He's a treasure, truly.
I am so, so, so sad Joe Pera's show wasn't picked up for a new season. He fills my heart, and is the nonprescription xanax we all need right now. Seeing him imperceptibly break at the total silliness of this interview is everything.
