Joe Pesci was about 10 times scarier than anybody else in Goodfellas. One of the greatest performances of all time...the complete reversal of raging bull where De Niro was the lunatic and he was the restrained one.
Cause he's a pretty scary guy in real life. Did you not just watch him say he kicked his dog? He's a real mobster. He went to his ex's domestic violence trial (where she was the victim). Later, the guy who was the defendant, turned up dead. Hollywoods the exact opposite on the inside of what it is on the outside.
@@stepzyt3889 Trump derangement syndrome is strong when you're making connections to a movie that starred DeNiro and has nothing to do with our current president.
@@JS-qg1ie they couldn't handle the violence...as I watch it now 25 years later I think it holds up very well. Just not enough James Woods. But is there, ever?
And only idiots watch t.v. Or pay to watch these pc movies . Im thankful i was raised with the best music, best actors and actresses and t.v. My only wish is that i was older in the 70s so i could see jimi hendrix play.
Cortney Massey indeed, that's how fucked up is the world of nowadays, built by Democrats, progressives and leftist and social justice warriors. "Liberal cancer", it's called...
@John Pap: The ridiculous thing with me is --- I keep hoping to forget the storyline of those movies -- just so I can experience them like it’s the first time that I’m seeing them because they are so outrageously good. 😂
I bet Marty was pissed that Pesci was blabbling his big fucking mouth about Casino when he shouldn't that he yelled out " Imma gonna bury this fucker in the fucking movie!" and thus Casino had one of the most brutal death scenes with Pesci getting a beaten with bats and buried alive.
Mario Puzo goes to Bob Evans for loan to pay his bookies. I'm thinking of writing a book about 'the boys', going to call it 'Mafia'. Evans gives him the money for rights to his book about 'the boys', and nobody looked back after the money started rolling. Puzo said he was big library guy, always on lists to borrow books. Realised one day, I can afford to buy books.
Pesci is so spot on playing a murderous loose cannon in Goodfellas and Casino that his performances in those films are utterly and perfectly nerve wracking. Those movies are literally scarier than most horror movies.
@@jihigh482 These performances can be scarier than a horror movie to many people, because they are REAL. My wife can't even look at Robert de Niro's face. She knows some real unpleasant fellas in real life, and De Niro reminds her of those people because of his roles. Same thing with Pesci. Some sort of alien monster or demon isn't going to remind her of actual real-life experience she's had and won't be nearly as scary. ps. she grew up in a bad neighborhood
"my dog loves the pool." to me, that is a freaking GOLDEN LINE, and the audience really missed it. that is exactly my kind of sense of humor. genius comeback that fell on deaf ears.
Joe Pesci is one of those guys that they broke the mold on after he was created. There won't ever be anyone able to do what he can do. He's irreplaceable.
Joe Pesci was literally the most iconic portrayal of a gangster back then, and made you fear the Mafia without even having connections to them. He would be the last person i want to see if I messed up lol
I may be 25 yrs old however I've seen almost every Joe pesci movie and still feel like I can't get enough of him w that being said he is one of the GOAT
First movie I watched with Pesci was one of Meo Gibson, then remember him on My cousin Vinnie, what a great actor and person, long life to artists like him!!!!
I love Joe Pesci. He said he had to go to the hospital alone in a taxi when he was really sick and felt so alone with no one to drive him or be with him. My heart went out to him. I got you Joe, been there, done that.
What an amazing person and actor. From zombie movies to Home Alone to Lethal Weapon to anything he can be in, he was amazing!!! Even My Cousin Vinny…one of my top 3 favorite comedy movies of all time
It’s crazy to know I was alive during this interview. A kid, around 7 years old, playing with my toys in a corner of a living room. In my pajamas. It’s 7:00pm and it’s a Friday night so I don’t have school. Briefly looking up and seeing my parents watching television and for a moment looking at the TV myself, seeing this random person my mom referred to as an actor named “Joe Pesci” and this other guy talking about things I know nothing about. “What’s a casino?” “What’s a cigar?” “What is goodfellas?” “He said something about kicking a dog. Why would he do that?” Then going back to playing with my toys. Times were much simpler. Glad I got to live through them.
@@natwalsh2710 It's as if they used the guests fame to falsely usurp their "stardom" by creating a premeditated "banter" to proport what would otherwise be a show with an unintelligible host.
@@justvin7214 alot of the actors were in goodfellas and casino, some of them were even in a bronx tale. The director Martin Scorsese put his mom in the movies too which was awesome. In casino she plays Artie Piscanos mom, and in goodfellas she plays Joe Pesci's mom after the kill Billy Bats
_My Cousin Vinny is my favorite comedy of all time and the reason why is because Joe Pesci made the movie the success it came to be through his exceptional talent._
Wow how lucky are adults during the 90’s having the excitement between Goodfellas & then hearing about “a film called casino” coming out & watching it cinema. I was born in 1995 the year Casino came out & id do anything to experience my fav film in cinema for the first time all over again.
Pesci's character was based on Tommy Desimone who was a much larger man in physical stature but Pesci's performance is so big it doesn't matter. There are times in Goodfellas when Pesci threatens to take over the movie and when you are working beside the likes of Robert Deniro that is truly saying something.
Casino is one of the best movies ever made. And as far as Joe kicking his dog, I highly doubt it. He's playing his bad ass role for the audience. People need to get a grip!
Great business strategy and tact. He knew how to communicate and get to the point where he wanted to be. It shows why he was a great actor and made a big name for himself in the business
@@natwalsh2710 Bad nutrition is bad for you. Smoking is not. Worse yet is medications given to you by your doctor, non-organic food, CT scans, and people who want to dictate what others should or should not do.
@@money1968 Wrong. It because the masses of asses are eating processed junk, filled with pesticides and growth hormones. If the ate healthy AND took the correct nutritional supplements, they'd never get cancer from smoking, .Most people who smoke eat junk food, drink, and aren't trying to stay healthy. Let them rot. By the way, the HIGHEST rate of lung cancer in the United States is among women who own house cats and who do NOT smoke. The mixture of cat litter, urine and feces is highly carcinogenic,. Smoking does not cause cancer if you eat healthy organic foods, take high quality supplements and exercise.
Tommy DeSimone was like in his mid 20's. What they end up doing in the film is make Henry and Tommy kinda the same age, with Tommy a little older. I think Tommy's character is meant to be late 30's. So that's younger than Joe Pesci, but older than the real guy.
How a very short, 46 year old man ends up playing a character based on a guy who was about 6'3" and who would have been in his late teens to early 20's during the events in the movie (real life Tommy DiSimone died at age 28).
I love Joe Pesci. I think he's better than Deniro who I also like. And even though Goodfellas was a bit better than Casino, I feel like Pesci outplayed Deniro in it. And of course in Goodfellas he held his own. Even down to his comedy movies, great. I still love My Cousin Vinny! Pesci a legend...
Yes. I would say so. It's a shame Martin never gave Joe his own movie, although Joe Pecsi for me OWNS every bit of reel he's on screen when he appears in Scorsese films.
He reminds me of a guy I went to school with a few years ago from middle school all the way to high school. He had the exact same attitude/humor as Joe and is short too, like very short. He was also kind of tough too, lol. 😂
Whoever was Pesci's agent at the time did a hell of a job getting him parts. Goodfellas. Casino. Home Alone. Lethal Weapon sequels. My Cousin Vinnie. And more. He was on a nice kill streak.
He was JOE PESCI the whole time... agent was just a secretary. Remember Arnold his agent was great from CONAN TO COMMANDO to Total Recall to Terminators to TRUE LIES....
Netflix bought the rights and is spending 150 million on it - Scorsese, Deniro, Pesci, Pacino, Keitel and more - said to be many of their last film appearances.
