lmao..."I ran from New York to California in 5 hours..I'M CARL LEWIS...over water and what not...I'M BAD MAN...I'M CARL LEWIS!!" oh man gotta love Eddie! I'M CARL LEWIS!
@@spambeanie2 BAREFOOTED?? Dam that's one hell of a run but Wtf why no foot protection ? His feet had to be one big mess form all of the rocks, stones, glass, hot pavement, cigarette butts, and other garbage along side the roads, Congrats to him 👏🏻👏🏻😎👍🏻 definitely a better man then me i would have to psyche myself out just to take that ride in a car let alone running barefoot. 💅👈🏻👏🏻🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
I have raced airplanes! I have seen planes flying over and started running and beat planes! I ran from New York to California in 5 hours! I'm Carl Lewis! Over water and what not! I'm bad man!! ROFL!!! Eddie Murphy at his best!
Yeah young Eddie was a different beast altogether. He was quick witted, fast, foul, he didn't care. Old Eddie, slower, not as witty. Not as foul...yeah those were the good ol' days
This was on HBO in 1984 and we watched it about 100 times. There were a dozen similar and hilarious skits, one with Joe playing the drums. He was really talented.
It was great. The Joe Piscopo Special. I was a kid and we owned it on VHS and watched it over and over again. All the skits were funny. I was so disappointed and confused by his second special, it was truly awful. He was on steroids and kept talking about his son and how much he loved him which is nice but not at all funny. But his first one is a classic.

Hilarious stuff. I love that Eddie Murphy's impression of Carl Lewis was just him being Eddie Murphy but yelling "I'm Carl Lewis." In 1984, that was kind of the point. Eddie Murphy was a bigger star than any of the people in this sketch, including Carl Lewis. People didn't get it then, but they do now, and that's why we never see anything like this today.
Carl Lewis didn’t become the “fastest man in the world” until after the Seoul Olympics in 88 (and Lewis still technically came 2nd in the 100m) when Ben Johnson was banned for 4yrs for using steroids. I watched the race as a kid and Ben Johnson left Carl Lewis & Linford Christie for dead winning in the time of 9.79sec smashing the old world record (no wonder they drug tested him) and it wasn’t until Usain Bolt at the Beijing Olympics that, that time was equalled (the Bolt smashed that record again with a time which I can’t see being beat for decades maybe 100yrs)
@@JoeHynes284 yeah I remember Ben Johnson had shaved his head bald, had a gold chain around his neck, was wearing the red coloured shirt & shorts that represented Canada and he also looked like he had put on a lot of muscle mass since I last saw him (maybe he didn’t but compared to Carl Lewis & Linford Christie he was huge). I also remember the headline in the sports page of the newspaper my parents bought which said “Ben The Bullet” only to have his name dragged through the mud in the papers the following days as a drug cheat. It’s funny what things stick in your mind as a child as I was 6 at the time and 7 later on in the year and I remember that the race was on either 7am or 8am because of the time difference between Korea and England
@@vinnyvaselino7975TF you talkin about guy? The same type of comedy is still out there.. You seen any Gilly N Keeves sketches? Especially the 1 about Alabama football.. You just arent paying attention to the good stuff. You arent gonna find it on SNL
This is one of those bits that you saw as a kid, your father was wheeze laughing, you laughed just to get the joke with him, then years later you go back and double over just like he did.
This may be the most perfect comedy piece I've ever seen. I've watched it at least 100 times. I can't imagine any way that it might be improved upon. REALLY BRILLIANT ! I think it's right up there with "WHO'S ON FIRST?"
"I'm Carl Lewis! I'm faster than God. Can God run the 100 metre in 8 seconds? No! If he can, let him come down here and do it!" This is one of the funniest Eddie bits I've ever seen. Bravo!
@navycompass, actually this clip itself wasn't from SNL. It was from a 1-hour Joe Piscopo special on HBO. I still have my store-bought copy on VHS somewhere.
I've seen lewis interviews where the topic is who can beat who, and that's definitely how he talks. Fast an arrogant. the only thing he doesn't do, as I've never seen it, is say, I'm Carl Lewis.
You may have a point, if you are a younger person. My comment was kinda unfair because the Klumps and Norbit were "family" films; in other words something that kids and teens would like, too. I'm remembering him from "Raw" and SNL in the 80's, which was much more adult.
Murphy was a one man show when on SNL. He bailed them out big time after the original cast left.....if not for Murphy between Hartman a few years later, the show might have folded.
NBC was going to cancel it after 84-85 season when Dick Ebersol quit as producer. He demanded the show be done on tape.If Lorne hadn't come back it would have been.
