I remember a guy trying to insult Artie by saying he was only the 3rd funniest fat guy ever after Belushi and Farley. Artie was just like "Thank you! That's very high praise."
I’ve always felt for Artie, as a fellow addict and alcoholic, when he has the right combo of whatever drugs in him, and he’s firing on all cylinders, he’s one of the funniest people ever, but when he’s off, he’s way off, anyone who’s struggled with addiction knows how that goes
I met Artie once… he was cool as shit.. i told him My brother in law’s birthday was tomorrow he said oh shit let me make a video for him… he goes whats his name .. i said Jeff… camera on “ Happy birthday jeff you fucking Asshole!!” Then turns around and walked away hahahahahahaha
Artie has one of the sharpest comedic wits ive ever seen, especially in the HSS , he made he laugh hardest with his witty comebacks rather than his story tellings
I didn't know much about the guy so I looked him up, Wikipedia has this (holy shit): "On January 2, 2010, Lange attempted suicide for the second time at his home by drinking bleach, slitting his wrists, and stabbing himself in the abdomen nine times with a 13-inch kitchen knife." It does sound possessed by a demon.
If you think he's contradicting himself here, you're missing the point. He's saying Artie is a great, caring, and funny man who struggles with major self-control issues and emotional pain.
I’m like Artie, an addict, but it’s more than that, I’ve been sober for years now, but still do self defeating shit, even though I know better, I feel like he’s the same, not sure what you call it, but it’s more complicated than just cutting out the drugs or drink, fear of success and low self esteem is the best way I can put it. Something is going well for me, a relationship, or a job, I’ll eventually blow it up for no good reason.
A bit late.. But sounds a little bit like 'imposter syndrome' it's become much more spoken about even in the years since this comment. There are ways and means friend, ways and means. Lots of great reading out there on it. I've also been that soldier and I probably always will be but it's better to learn to know your enemy and spot the signs that it's coming on and you can learn tools to defeat it. All the best if this ever finds you.
Thanks man, just saw this, and you’re correct. I’ve been looking into imposter syndrome, and like you said, seems like a flood of info on this recently for some reason. I saw your comment after I had started looking into that, so it was nice to hear someone else came to the same conclusion. Thanks and good luck to you too.
I was looking at pics of Artie when he was young and I saw a young man with potential that threw it all away. Looking at how he is today, seems like he allowed life to beat him down and he never got recovered. Guys, do some Self-Improvement and I promise you it will aid you later down the road.
My favourite Mad TV sketch is Artie Lange as a Secret Service agent telling the blackout drunk president that he annexed Saskatchewan in trade for Aerosmith. As someone who lives in Saskatchewan, i was impressed by artie’s pronunciation. he definitely did some research and had some practice.
The deterioration of Artie was hard to look at. When he was on Stern early in radio days and you would get flashes of the demons that eventually ate him.
Bunch of jealous ass bitches in here. Artie Lange has made more $ in one day than most of you will make in a lifetime. Until youve walked a mile in his shoes keep your judgemental mouths shut.
Artie fit in on Stern because he knew the rhythms of the show, could be guarded, charming and shy while at the same time being totally open and brutally honest, never trying too hard to tell “jokes” while being spontaneously funny. He knew his place and seemed at home just being himself. I feel like he did the exact opposite of that on the AA show, where it seemed more like two really funny guys fighting for the same air.
@@happyhammer1 Joe Piscopo is an Italian American Actor who was really big back in the late 80''s to the early 90's. He was a big box office draw and he Starred in a good number of movies. He was known for being in really good shape and for playing the classic Italian tough guy. I'm exactly sure why, but his career slowly faded out and died. The person who posted this comment, I believe was referring to this Anthony guy's looks and he does seem to favor Joe Piscopo as far as looks go, you would have to Google Joe Piscopo to truly understand what the poster of this comment is talking about, I hope this helps...
@@Turk_2023 Are you kidding? He had an outburst on the show one time where he literally cried out against Stern and everyone else for making light of his issues and treating him like garbage, and he walked off the show. He snapped at Howard several other times too. So yeah, he sure did complain.
@W A K E A N T H E M Dude, the we all had a phase where we were smoking dank weed and wigging out on crazy conspiracies, some us grew up, and evolved as human beings. We think critically and not just hold on to bro'd out paranoia and gullibility. Of course there have been legitimate conspiracies, but Eddie Bravo is fucking delusional.
@W A K E A N T H E M Yeah he has debunked it many times. Yes we all know he use to think that 12+ years ago. People opinions and views change as they get educated.
He dealt with him for 8 months.. Howard did it for years on a very high budget high paying job and now Artie bashes him for not calling him. Artie burns bridges and hits bottom so many times.
Hyosube Korobokkuru - There's already more Asians in the world than there is 'Whites' as you put it. Asians account for 60% of the worlds population you dumb fuck!
Captain 2373 why so Jordan can suffer attacks by an abusive douchebag? There’s a reason Artie is irrelevant today, he was and continued to be his own worse miserable enemy that tries to drag others into his shit.
Yeah could you imagine Jordan Peterson talking about the future of western culture only for Artie to interrupt and tell a story about how his Uncle called Buffy the Vampire Slayer a "jew broad that fights draculas".
He should just go on life long maintenance, he has gotten sober and relapsed too many times, and with fentanyl being in the batches these days, he is probably off not risking getting a bad bag.
The reality is that Artie only became legendary on the Howard Stern show starting in early 2006 (when they went to Sirius), which coincided with him becoming a full time heroin junkie and slipping fast into a deep and dark abyss of which he NEVER came out of. Artie became the freak attraction for being self-destructive and destructive as well on set from 2006-2009. Most of the bits were of him nodding off due to his heroin addiction, or gaining 120 pounds in less than a year and becoming a fat, heroin addicted, gambling and compulsively lying and violent at times degenerate slob. When he started full time on the show in 2001/2002, he wasn't that big of a deal. It's only when he got on the junk, got dumped by his girlfriend, gained the 100 pounds and started calling in sick and lying and becoming something that Howard could exploit, was when they made comedy out of his declining health and mental state. His personality dramatically changed from those very early years on the show to when they were on Sirius. When Howard was forced to finally fire him after almost 4 years of that shit, is when Artie completely went off the rails and tried to commit suicide and then aged about 50 years and NEVER got clean. He's been a bum ever since.
Dan Maler Artie earned 2 million a year at the peak of his salary on Stern, so please, let's not blather on about exploitation. Did Howard force him to become a full blown junkie? Artie may be a full on degenerate drug addict, but he's no broke bum, he's earned millions from Stern and from his comedic/show biz career. It blows my mind when people act like he's some sick little childlike figure that everyone got rich off while he labored away in the salt mines, bitch please, he's one savvy mother fucker, and he's openly gloated about getting high for what, decades now? And I say all this as an addict, I have no problem if Artie wants to get high, but let's not act like everyone else is at fault here.
Artie is great, he is like Chris Farley in his act, but the demons caught up with Chris Farley. Artie continues to do drugs and keeps being funny, it’s amazing but also really sad.
He was hilariously funny on Howard up until his latter Sirius years when he’d call in sick. But that did make for great goofs on him. Artie coughing into the phone telling Gary he wasn’t going to be in that day. Meanwhile, the sounds of someone chalking up lines were in the background. 😂
@@craig.encinitas he still had great shows after that but it did cut down because it seemed like he was either on or coming off something on the show alot
At this point nobody can help Artie. Only he can save himself and so far it doesn't look like he will ever recover. It's just a matter of time before he's found dead.
Tired of everybody saying “what a great guy”.. eff him. He’s a drag u down kinda guy.. yeah I don’t know him but every story is how you can’t count on him, he’s unreliable, he’s a mess and other people don’t seem to matter in his life. Eff him
@@ceeaitch11 he was so drunk on stage they had to hold him up but enabled him to keep drinking then they tried dragging him to his room which starts funny but ends up depressing and makes u realize this guy is trying to drink himself to death
That wasn't even bad, that was just drunken shenanigans, maybe a little coke, now him being in depth of heroin addiction, is a totally different beast.
So many close calls. He's the only person on Twitter where when it's going bad for him he decides to live tweet, you can literally read him tweet about cops banging on his hotel room door and then read about an arrest hours later. It's as fascinating as it is frustrating and tragic
