I've always thought that astronomy/astrology of ancient hunter gatherers helped lay the foundation for science. People 15 - 20,000 years ago were very in tune with the movements of the stars and planets and recognized and recorded the cycles they observed.

As far as I'm aware, indigenous peoples have never given a time frame for human existence and or beginnings. It is hubris, and racism that has limited understanding and discovery.
