Yeah anybody that's not a rube knows his movies are fucking complete dogshit. I like intentionally bad movies (was that his intent?) I like slashers, Supernatural, B horror movies, anything decent horror.... he makes the worst of the worst. And I just tried to give all his movies another chance again his fucking whole bullshit trilogy whatever the fuck he called it the only one that was semi-decent was Devil's Rejects but that's still a stretch to say. His Halloween remakes we're probably among the worst movies I've ever seen. I'd watch the Busta Rhymes Halloween 10 times in a row before watching his bullshit
I could tell JR wasn't well prepared for this interview because he probably asked Rob Zombie 3 times the same f*ckinq question 2different ways: so how did you get into movies, what made you decide to get into horror movies....
@@sickofthelies1627 I like his movies and yes I'd say b movie is what he goes for. If you understand grind house cinema then you'd get it. Are they great movies? No, but they have a charm to them to me. It's basically it's just him making films from a bygone era. It's not for everyone and that's totally ok.
I met this man and his mother when I was 16 years old working at my first restaurant on mother's day. He was the most down to earth person I've ever got to meet
@Auto blipper It's not even a majority, it's a bunch of lunatics with colored hair and hornrim glasses that never got told they aren't actually important. You know, those kind of people that put their pronouns in their Twitter bios.
Yeah I love his podcasts, get to see famous people's real personality and he has some great guests on and asks good questions, I spend a lot of time watching clips from past interviews.
I went to a Rob Zombie concert in the late 1990's. All of the other acts were sub par at best. But when Rob Zombie took the stage, the entire place was transformed. Fire projections, fog machines, laser lights, wild dreadlocks thrashing in the strobe light, half naked exotic dancers with snakes, and the entire venue was roaring! One of the best shows I ever saw.
Yep seen um in the 90s I've seen tons of bands over the years and was just telling my wife that White Zombie show was one of the best ever for all the reasons you mentioned! On the other hand I had the chance to see Nirvana and what a crap show 😆...
🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠 You can totally tell Rob's anxiety was up there for the first several minutes. Arms crossed, figetty, fooling with the mic. I can spot a fellow introvert lol. He's still an awesome dude 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
themonsteraddict MMXVI ....Steve-O and Hetfield went through a lot of shit respectively that would certainly help to shape a humble person. I couldn’t speak to the pasts of Diaz and Burr as, I don’t know much about them. Rob seems like he’d be the same way no matter where he ended up. Rogan always has the best guests, better that any talk show on TV by far!!
@@williamgates1128 lol, that dude must have deleted his post before I could read it. Must have been brutal. I wasn't bashing Rob Zombie. I used to listen to his old stuff. I just never heard him interviewed before and I was impressed. Didn't mean to butt hurt fanboys.
Its deeper than that I think. Its not like the movies. Its a geniouly different scream. I saw someone get tasered by the cops. This really calm kinda gay sounding dude. And he screamed and roared like a bear. I didn't think he that in him. People become a totally different human being in a state when they get absolutely fucked. And its, I would not say fascinating, but interesting.
He's fucking awesome! My mum went to see White Zombie in Stockholm or something years ago. Dude went out to pubs and stuff without a bunch of security both before an after playing. He's the type of "celebrity" who knows he wouldn't be shit without them, and qct accordingly. Think my mum has like 10 pictures with him, because HE wanted to get it right. Fucking legend
He is! I met him in the 90s at a record store in Massachusetts before he did a show at The Palladium in Worcester. He was so relaxed and personable. He asked me if I wanted to take a picture with him. (This was before we all had cameras on cell phones!) He was chatting away with me but I tried to make it quick bc there was a line behind me. I felt bad for the people waiting, while him and I were yapping away! 💀
@Chad ... I saw him with White Zombie at PG equestrian center back in the early 90's and had a blast. I mean it was a freaking horse farm. Awesome mosh pit...muddy ASF. I was about 20-21years old It was a great time. Everybody was having fun, weed was everywhere and the cops didn't fk with us. They let us be young disgruntled disenfranchised youths that were not happy with the Government and the labels society wanted us to wear. Most people don't know how shit used to be back then ! Gen X knew how to do shit right. We had a great time doing it ! Nobody got shot, people weren't getting arrested, groups of people weren't fighting (most of the time)....we just blew off steam and the cops let us do it because of that ! It feels like a lifetime ago.
My husband and I was at the Twins of Evil 2 tour and to hear Rob talk about social anxiety is crazy bc he jumped down of the stage right in front of us. He walked through the crowd like it was nothing. What a great actor. Best concert, blurry picture of him next to me and memories to last me a life time.
I'm at 51 years old all of a sudden addicted to this guys music and general take on life. His music and movies are just so much different but his general sense of the world is more interesting than just about anyone else I've ever taken any interest in. It takes a lot for me to get into any other music than say Big Country and U2, Gun's n Rose's or Green day but this guy is the real deal
Dan ackroyd and zombie came off as delusional elitists wrapped up in their own bs so hard they've lost touch with reality. Surprised no one ever told ackroyd about gov secret tech as he drank the kool aid in buying the alien propaganda about 50s sci fi and aliens. It's just antigrav tech, no ray guns and martians
Zombie never disapoints live. The absolute best live show period. Very fun what a humble guy never let any of it go to his head. Totally deserving of all his success and more I will attend and highly recommend anybody attend any live performance in your area by zombie it's bad ass fun show
Blake839 -- Yea, but how did it play out? Rogan will talk to you like shit too if you introduced yourself to him in public. Or at least dinner, but probably both. Fuck, I would be annoyed too if random people wanted to interact with me in public.
@Blake839 Social anxiety will do that. No matter what Rob says, you never fully get over it. You just learn to live with it. When someone just walks up to you and gets into your space when you can't prepare for it,you get defensive and react without thinking.
@@alxofficial1541 how is it too late to get them on the show? The show has more seasons coming and they're still alive. Sometimes it's better not to make a comment.
I had backstage passes to meet Rob in Madison Wisconsin after he signed anything you wanted he told every person to stick around when he was done signing everyone's stuff he came out behind the table and shook everyone's hand or gave them a hug and sincerely told everyone how much he appreciated them supporting him and his music
Some people do. If you've had training or just come form mean streets you make sure your not on the business end of the blade "stay calm and cut throats"
Agreed 100% i am guessing Joe or Rob had to get their ass in gear, (Rob's movie opening and the need to be present somewhere makes the most sense) because that was a great Podcast, the conversation was interesting, Joe was not ready to stick a fork in his eyes (ala Dan "WTF are you on right now dude" Akroid) and neither was i, and i am guessing that I am not alone in sharing Brian's positive feedback from this podcast. 3 hours at least without any boring bullshit at the very least. So ummm Joe "I never read the comments" Rogan, i hope you get the message and have Mr. Z back in. Lastly, i am guessing that your partners in crime here in podcast land, Diaz and maybe Ari, and Burr who does not have guests on except on the rare occasion when perhaps a hard rock musician might be someone that Burr would be stoked to have on. Now we just have to think of such a guest for Billy Freckles!
@@jessewright2319 . I am sorry that you are hopeless and only see negativity in life. Hope the best for you man. Only YOU have control over how YOUR life turns out. SO if YOUR life sucks that's on YOU and nobody else. There is always time to turn it around
Ahahaha!!!! Joe "I dont always correct my guest' grammar?, but when i do, i make sure its someone who is infinitely more intelligent than myself" like neil Green grass day tyson
He literally just followed his heart his entire life, and his whole life fell into place. All the while he stayed honest with who he is. Never knew Rob Zombie would be such an inspirational guy. 😄
Yes so inspirational the way he opened the pathways for so many different actresses by casting his wife as the lead woman in virtually everything he’s made
Funny story about House of 1000 Corpses, as a Rob and White Zombie fan, I followed the news, and the film just wasn't being released. Even saw videos of him talking on stage about the release of the film at the time. Finally found a $1 theater showing it, called my buddy, and we drove an hour to see the film. Both of us loved it. I know Rob won't ever read this but it's a tribute to how much his fans love and respect what he does.
because from what I can gather, they don't let books into Minnesota. cousins should write one. 'how to get away with fraud, robbery' a play by ? $Speilman $$$$? is that the old G.M.'s name...please tell me OLD G.M. in Minnesota gone, yah yah...
I remember seeing Rob at a record store in Toronto back in the 90's, and he was loaded with movies and CD's. Everything from KISS to Disney's Cinderella.
Just you for sure. Rob is handsome and talented. The opposite of Duncan Trussel. Also Duncan Trussel takes 2nd place to Brian Redban for biggest tool to ever appear on JRE. Brendan Schaub doesn't count.
@@MJC-he3zt the joke totally flew over your head. No one was talking about redban or schaub but you just had to put your 2 cents in on a joke that had nothing to do with that. You are the person joe, tom, bert, bryan and diaz absolutely shit on and make fun of.
I remember coming out of the bathroom at Ozzfest I think it was & literally bumping RIGHT into Rob Zombie - he had just gotten up from a table of meeting fans & I just walked out of the bathroom and slammed right into him by accident not even realizing & he was so tall & I was so young & was just like omggggg - he was so nice. I was like sorry! But that bump in will never leave me, love him & his music & movies.
Red Pill Vegan I wonder if Joe was aware he’s talking to someone who’s been vegan for over 30 years! 😂 Rob signed both my WZ albums the other year, so damn sweet!!
“So what drew you to the kind of movies you make?” “I don’t know...” “So tell me about your childhood” “I grew up in a carnival, and watched people get their faces bashed in with hammers”
@Abserd O True, but instead I would say *MOST* people are incapable of self psychoanalysis. Not only because people don't draw the connections, but people are so busy an concerned with work, family and friends, an other crap they focus on or worry about. That allot of people don't ever even have the time to reflect on their childhood or times in their life that influenced who they become. Or don't even remember early events, especially traumatic times or events that largely form people behaviors and habits (socially or otherwise) later in their adult life.
Daniel, yep. Years ago, I was living in Phoenix, at the time that Rob Halford decided to retire and he lived in Phoenix for a while. I met him at a club one night, my band was opening for another, and the buzz went through the crowd "Yo! Rob HALFORD's here!" I knew I had to speak with him, and when I actually got the chance, I was absolutely amazed at his (1) intelligence (VERY smart guy, Brit education) and (2) his gentle manner of speaking. I was completely taken aback. Super nice guy. I hope he's still doing well.
I finally got to see Rob live last week and it was my daughter's first concert. Such an awesome show you could feel his energy it was perfect for my daughters first concert
Same, i saw him at Rocklahoma and it was fucking amazing. Honestly not even too into his music, but he was the highlight of the festival. He was incredible
watch the show on Netflix "Mind Hunter"- its about the FBI interviewing serial killers back in the 80's. they eventually interview Charles Manson and that actor is damn good
Great thing about Rob is that he didn't take everything that happened in his life so seriously. He just rolled with the punches and did his stuff the way he wanted to do it. Great Artist!
Rob is a rare talent in that he learns by doing. Astro-Creep 2000 is an AMAZING album and so is Hellbilly Delux. As for films, House of 1000 Corpses was awesome but The Devil's Rejects is one of the best films ever made. RZs Halloween films are both great too.
Every time Rob makes a movie, the same shitty critics shit on it and he doesn't care. He does what he wants every time and his fans will always be there. I drove an hour to see 31 and 3 From Hell.
Saw Rob Zombie live this summer, Saturday at Download festival, before Slipknot. Then Smashing Pumpkins on Sunday followed by TOOL. Was a dope af weekend.
I love rob, I met him when I was 15 he signed my guitar in Tempe Arizona. He would sign anyone’s but I waited anyways. And when I met him he was standing with a water bottle. Asked for an x and he signed it the hell up. I lost it years ago when I joined the navy. 30 years later combat vet! I miss the guitar though. 😢
I love how Joe Rogan can have Rob Zombie on one day, then having a conversation with an Astrophysicist on the next episode. He can get along with anyone
@@HughMorristheJoker - "Yeah, Joe can sit around sounding dumb with anyone" Even though he isn't as intelligent as you he still gets by financially. His brain, and all the hurdles that implies, made him a good living. I'm impressed.
Very likable yes, also very interesting to listen to, great life. But im not sure about very intelligent. Not an idiot but nothing special either. Just a regular bloke.
Mike Milly it’s awesome!! I have a masters in film and this was really cool to watch. I actually got to meet Douglas Trumbull who was responsible for the visual effects in 2001 and close encounters of the third kind. It’s awesome how revolutionary the effects were at that time. I also agree with Zombie on Star Wars. Visual effects look great in something like the avengers, but when Lucas put new computer generated effects and mashed them in between the old puppetry and clay models, I think it looks really stupid. Up for debate of course, but I think most fans agree.
Joe is a master interviewer. But he's that way because he's real and he has so many interests. He's so conversational that it all seems so natural and I guess it really is. I'm never bored with Joes podcasts. I just need to start watching earlier in the evening. 10 minutes til 4am. And I "wake up" at 6 to get ready for work. But worth it. Especially since I've been a Rob Zombie fan since forever both his music and his movies.
@@nickoutdoors2370 lol I've watched it a hundred times... I thought at first maybe he was cleaning his shoe with his spit, which is fucking gross by itself but... Idk dude ate dog shit
I'll never understand where the hatred towards Rob Zombie comes from. He is the most talented modern horror movie filmmaker in the business yet there are always people who say he sucks but when you call them on it, asking for them to tell you why they say he sucks they have no real reply.
Sure, but does he still act like a huge douche when telling those stories? Pantera is great and all, but holy fuck is Phil a hard person to listen to. Anyone who is that full of themselves is not someone who is interesting to talk to.
