That's because this shit actually works. The problem with a lot of the personal development stuff is that it doesn't give you any actual *tools* to change. You're fighting your ingrained patterns and your biology, which becomes unbelievably difficult to change as you get older - and by older I mean even into your 30s. The wiring is set. Before I discovered neurofeedback and brainwave entrainment a year ago, how difficult it was to change myself was infuriating. I had all the advice, but I couldn't implement it. Great. So I'm 41 and I'm screwed. But now I have a fighting chance! And hopefully a lot more soon.

@John Frylock you've got the dude wrong. Joe himself isn't deep in PC culture, he recognises that in order to keep the mob off him some things he says need to be explained or clarified. It's really stupid for a comedian to be stuck in that position but it's also a necessity in his case in order to keep sponsor deals and to not fuck up his Spotify pay day before he even makes the full shift. Right now keeping the Spotify deal is the most important thing so he's doing it right tbh. I think he may losen up a bit on that shit once the move is done and behind him.

So my name is Andrew, and I woke up this morning and I go wake up my PC to start my day when my all of a sudden I put on my headphones and I'm sitting in my chair looking at my phone when this episode auto-plays, first line, Joe Rogan "Andrew! How are ya?" me being a huge fan and being distracted by my phone, have a mini heart attack like wtf just happened, how am I on with Joe Rogan, can he see me in my underwear right now. Definitely a crazy coincidence that I needed to share.

@jrcenina85
@jrcenina85 4 года назад
John S no hate man, just curious. Some would think that I got a useless degree (mostly translated Latin into English among other things) but the company that I work at would not have given me a 2nd look if it wasn’t for having a degree. College exposed me to a bunch of different subjects ranging from math to poetic verse and that trained my mind to be flexible and open. After college I taught myself coding and got a job as a software developer/engineer. I think just the experience of college (and not necessarily what I majored in) made this self-teaching easier than it would’ve been had I not been exposed to many different subjects in college. My useless-to-some degree helped train me to be trainable. It helped me land a job that allows me to eat good food, have nice things, give money to those in need, etc. A college degree won’t magically make shit happen for you-you still gotta take action to get what you want in life. But having one (no matter what the major is) definitely helps open doors.

Then you would probably be in disagreement with Duncan, and here is why. Studying a brain, is like studying an engine of a car to find out how and why does a car run. When eventually there is a human driving it and setting its course. In the same way Duncan feels as his fans know that brain is only a byproducts of consciousness . It's derived from consciousness and it's an illusion, to be blunt. Like Allan Watts says a knife cannot cut itself, a tooth can't bite itself that's why a brain can't investigate it self also. All we ever come across are just more confusing results and science actually is in crisis like never before, because it's discovering more and more that the world as we know it is an illusion. Just a desktop we get after it gets filtered through the brain. There is nothing but consciousness and once we unlearn everything, we will make progress.
@alientube1984
@alientube1984 4 года назад
This is helpful of course, but majority of the problems of the world would be erased by just introducing meditation in early schools and teaching us how to recognize out true nature. A lot cheaper and more effective than greedy pharma treating the physical part of us, and numbing us down!

It's just entirely true, we live to create and nurture. Imo it only makes sense, because in a standard human mind we find things like building, creating, and refining things around us to be extremely pleasurable. In the same way we also enjoy taking care of smaller animals we keep as pets even though it's incredibly taxing. We do stupid illogical shit that falls directly in line of this principle all the time. And if you take a step back to reflect you'll find that all of this is ENTIRELY true. We burn money on pets just for the joy we get from caring for them. And we create useless shit all the time just because we like the feeling of building something up, be it a project, relationship, or anything else. Our entire baseline for pleasure in the human brain is placed firmly on ideas directly related to creating and nurturing children.
