Roger Waters is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, co-founder of the legendary rock band Pink Floyd, and successful solo artist. Catch him live on the worldwide "This is Not a Drill" concert tour. www.rogerwaters.com
Listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon on vinyl was my first existential crisis, and when I realized the importance of being present through every moment in my life. This is all we have, our experience. Thank you. 👁️
You don't know that this life is all we have, only criminals wish it to be so so that they are not held accountable. But in any case, it is best to live a life that gives you sense of peace when you are at your death.
Listening to Dark Side of the Moon was my first real introduction to music. Before that I would listen to whatever was on the radio...As a teenager I remember playing it back to back and really becoming who I am.
@@staticcouch135 it's mostly just trying to organize the recordings into when they were actually recorded even tho they were just now uploaded, no conspiracy theory with Google or RU-vid.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 You know who is roger an antisemite who never managed To right as good as Dylan Newman And all these jews in rock history He hits the nervs of 17yo 😅😅
Normally before uploading, the host will give the guest the opportunity to review once again the interview and confirm. Not sure Joe is doing this, but some are doing it.
I've always loved pink flloyd but the more ive gotten to know Roger as a person over the years he has a big heart and I have immense respect for him . If only everyone chose to read read read do the right thing and held truth humanity compassion and equal human rights for all people as the most important priorities.
@@gamma-rayburst4611nothing. He’s a big dummy. This is one of the few times he has a guest with a viewpoint not typically aligned with his idiotic and unhinged right-wing friends. I’m sure Ben will be upset with him…
Roger Walters always been politically left. His family was Communist. They Continue to lie about stuff. He doesn't know nothing about This, this is why this evil exists and he's part of it.
Philosopher only for people like you who dont know what is to be a philosopher. Roger Waters defends Stalin and Mao Tse-tung, he is a communist, so he defends over 100 Million assassinations, he is a liar and demagogue. Only this.
I haven’t heard Amused To Death. I’ll check it out. And I feel the same way you do about his 1987 Radio K.A.O.S. album. It’s also a masterpiece. Another song (I thought he was referring to), also about nuclear war is on it, called “The tide is turning.” It’s incredible.
Thanks Joe!!! What a fantastic conversation with Roger Waters. He an inspiration to me as a musician and songwriter and I never miss an opportunity to listen to him.
@@sean543-k7qno lol it’s just the channel has mass uploaded tons of the pod that was only on Spotify onto RU-vid. U really think Joe is the one sitting there doing all this himself ? 🤣
This is maybe the best interview/conversation with Roger Waters out there. You can tell this is surreal for Joe, he's having a friendly in depth conversation with one of the classic rock / psychedelic legends that he's listened to since childhood and probably smoked lots of weed and tripped out to.
Roger Waters and Pink Floyd in general are just people. Successful artists partly due to timing and marketing. Decent music which now shows its age. Surreal or not, I think Joe has met enough people to learn to know that they are just that, people.
@@scallywaggin...that person is only saying that JR sees roger as a human being and not some godlike creature, cause he did a lot of interviews with famous people and he is used to it. Like, to talk to them like they are actually some people.
How can we be "Brothers and Sisters" without recognizing the same Supreme Father of All Species, and without realizing that we are all living upon the same Planet, we refer to as 'Mother Earth?!
He is an amazing person. The best writer in Pink Floyd. Growing up, David Gilmore got me with his guitar playing and beautiful voice, but when I finally got deep into Pink Floyd music, I found out it was all Rogers from the beginning. Plus, he is for humanity.
Roger Waters is a gem. You learn so much from people like this. He's not only the front man for one of the greatest rock bands ever, he's a thoughtful, perceptive, knowledgeable compassionate and brave man Shoukran bezaaf Sidi Watersoxo
As a 17yr old in 1993 I listened to The Wall in its entirety for the first time, while on LSD for the first time,,,,, spent most of that evening in the back of my friends Mk3 Escort while he drove around Fife with The Wall playing continuously..... Two P's have shaped my life since, Pink Floyd and Pete Tong ✌️
Roger Waters. The last great punk rocker and the establishment is scared of him. This is why youtube shadowbanned this particular episode. We can see it. clearly. Look at the comments. Not even a thousand. And 19K views after 11 days? So weird.
Are you actually delusional? Tens of episodes of the Joe Rogan Experience (that had only been available on Spotify) were released on RU-vid 14 days ago, not just this one🙄
It makes sense nowadays to say he is the last punk rocker but you know when punk broke out in 1976 it was a reaction against disco, pop and pink floyd as well ,the pistols hated these long guitars soloes on principle..
I absolutely love Pink Floyd! (Been listening since I was a kid. I'm 43). How wonderful it is to know that the person whose music you absolutely love is also an amazing, wonderful human being.
I am GLAD I took this one in. Thank you, JR for hosting so well. Thank you Roger for being YOU. I hope you inspire even more generations to a more peaceful, curious and present way of being. Humans BEING. Give Peace a chance. 🫶🏼✌🏼🖖🏼
🖤🖤🖤 Roger Waters 🖤🖤🖤 I still have my concert ticket, which is framed. I saw him in Vegas back in 2007. My soul left my body I was completely blown away! I loved his hitch hiking memory . Very smart, and amazing man.
he is only a songwriter. The musical brains were David Gilmour and Richard Wright. Who had more success since RW left PF? RW rehashes old material , has nothing new. DG is releasing a new soloalbum this month, his tour was sold out in minutes. I mean he can fill stadiums/arena's but he doesnt want to. DG is the person who brought PF back together, minus the bitter man. RW was not missed.
I rarely comment, but here I must. Thank you Roger for not being silent coward, thanks for all you are doing. Please dont give up and promote, initiate peace negotiations Thanks Joe for your wisdom and openness. I deeply wish you come to Prague for another concert! Love your music for year, respect you as human incredibly.
Doubtful Joe or Roger will see this comment, so to God and the universe, Thank you. I owe a great debt to Roger and Pink Floyd for their influence and counsel throughout my life. Joe, you have given us many gifts... thank you for this one.
21:28 my mom said something that stuck with me and that i live by .. it's funny... obviously it wasn't meant as life advice but i take it that way... she shouted to myself and two siblings, "it doesn't matter who the fck made the mess, just clean it the fck up!!!" As a child, the responsibility was always left on me because my siblings were lazy and didn't care.. side note, they're still the same, as am i. There are things in life that need to be taken care of. If you notice, stand up and do your part to clean up the disasters you see. You will always be stuck on that hard path, but at least you can respect yourself.
Ive never listened to Pink Floyd properly, didnt know this lead singer, i watch Joe rogans podcast , but dont usually watch the whole podcast, but this guy wow was hooked by him ! What an enigmatic brilliant man. I was i could be even half as smart and philosophical as him when ( if ) i get to his age of 79. Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant. 5 stars to you sir.
Thank you Roger Waters for doing what my deaf disabled can’t. Your voice and education will forever be an honor for me to have grown up with you. I was raised on your music and love you now even more-and your mum-“read read read and then do the right thing.” Just WOW-I am a changed person now from that story! And now it’s like your mom raised me again lol 😂
"If you want to be a baker you gotta work near an oven." - St. Roggies We must protect this rock. Peace and love everybody. It's that simple. Maybe our only purpose in life is to help each other get through it. Food for thought. "Why don't we boycott killing each other?" - Sir Richard the Pryor "Peace, love, dope!" - Terrance Mann
He explained apartheid in Israel and defends Stalin and Mao Tse-tung being a communist, he defends over 100 Million assassinations. So, Roger Waters is a bad character, only this..
Agree but he is so stupid about Putin... So damn stupid you wonder what the ulterior motive is... Maybe his spotlight on RT news? He talks about human rights whilst Putin kills his opponents, started a war with perhaps 1/2 million dead and attacks civilians everyday in Ukraine including infrastructure such as the dam 2 days ago. TBH Roger is full of shit.
peace doesn't bring money... they are all evil, give us the illusion we can chose something. Western democracy doesn' t work, in the base it is fascism. Connect capital and state (mussolini)
Its not shaddow baanned. This was recorded in 2022 and released recently. It seems that the video was privated because of the spotify deal. If you go down the video list youll find it in the 2 years ago section but it'll say the date it was published which is a few days ago.
because it's not a place, and Gaza is an occupational wat encampment of Holy Loser ARABS. 😡 Waters is Pink. The hammer is in HIS hand. madman on dark sid of moon..
Through fame and fortune its great to see Roger still has morals. His songs are great! Some i would even class as a "masterpiece" One of the best songwriters ever.
Joe, please also interview Miko Peled who is you don't know, is the grandson of a famous Israeli general! Also, Illan peppe who is an Israeli historian. Should add a lot!
It's so good to get this long form that allows Roger to really put forth the issues he's fighting for and his reasonings. Many/most people in the west nowadays, and I am guessing here, are too busy pedaling the host machine for their own sake, to have time or even attention to read read read and do the right thing. And even in his concerts, I only get half of the references because I'm not so well informed. So this longer format talk is perfect to at least get that. Thank you both!
Prolly the best Roger Waters interview I’ve seen and one of the only ones where he comes off likable and overall decent guy. Been a huge Floyd fan for years and sadly he is usually quite agitated pompous and arrogant but I enjoyed him here. Bravo Joe.
This is fantastic! I could listen to Roger for hours and hours. What a wonderful human being. If only more people cared as much as he does. And, if only people would realise it's possible to like or respect someone without having to agree with all they say (although i dont see how anything he has said could be found disagreeable). I hope he lives until at least 100!
Polite, gentle, very good story teller and a kind human being, this is the role model the young generation need in their lives. Thank you very much Joe for bringing this gentleman to your podcast, clearly it reached a lot of people who don't know about what's going on in the world. Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Glad i lived long enough to see this interview . Roger is quite an amazing man, greatly misunderstood for 76 years, and after this, there is no question of the respect and admiration , Roger truly deserves. His contributions to the world are historic, and his activism is relentless to this day, a true legend he is.
Everybody should respect people who are free unique and have ideas that many wouldn’t understand, you don’t need to follow but its good to hear everybody .Respect for Rodger ,in this world you cant be yourself ,mainstream media lies like never before. I don’t even know why i wrote this
In 1994 I had the pleasure of working at rogers' house in Hampshire England. I was working on his trees on his estate with a tree surgeon. His wife at the time, brought us tea and biscuits and was the most beautiful lady I've ever met. His grounds were immaculate and the river that passed through (river Test) was tranquil. I never cared that much for pink floyd at the time ( I was a metalhead) but as I've grown older I have chilled and roger is now one of my favourite artists. Although I don't align with him on Palestine, his heart is pure and he stands by his conviction and that is all that matters. My mum was a big influence on my life too. I lost her in 2018 and she was the fuel behind me to work hard and think out the box. I was the black sheep of the family, but my mum understood my difference was a gift. I found "mother" whilst grieving, cheers Roger 🍺 Keep on keeping on ✊🏻
That's a beautiful thing to share about Roger, and I have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes, reading about you, the black sheep, and your mother. I know what being the black sheep feels like, and how important it is to have non-judgemental parents. I'm sorry for your loss.
“Didn’t align with him on Palestine” why? Surely if you’ve listened to him and/or understood what’s happening in Gaza you’d have to align with him.. Do you agree with what Israel is doing to Gaza?
One of the greatest interviews of all time right here. This wasnt so much an interview but a heavy serious conversation that they both obviously were enjoying.
I looked for this video yesterday, like I came to the channel and searched "Roger Waters" and it didn't appear, so I assumed it hadn't been uploaded yet. But apparently it was uploaded 5 days ago. I saw this comment and thought "this must be a comment from a few days ago that doesn't realize it was uploaded recently", but nope, still 696 views
You know what though, there were a bunch of videos mass uploaded 5 days ago so people can't have watched all of them at once. Plus there were obviously people who watched on Spotify when it was released. It is still weird that it didn't even show up when I searched for it yesterday though, maybe it was private though and was just marked public today
Ty for this interview. I really admire his sincerity on the many issues he cares about..I love his voice. I am brought back ,by this interview,on how we treated the native Amercans and keep them on the reservation now as much as possible. Took their land and all that was precious to them. Even their identities. How sad, this never ending circle, all over the world. What a legend Roger Waters, wow.
The Palestinians are the occupiers. Their grandparents were Egyptian and Jordanian, and further back, Ottoman Turks. Arabs are always the aggressors, yet always claim to be victims
The real occupiers are Hamas and PLO they don't allow democratic elections, they throw LGBTQ members out of rooftops. Once the Palestinian people will have a new leadership that believes in peace equality and democracy among people, they will be free.
People need to give Roger a break. His only crime is caring for dead kids. Is that so bad? This guy wrote the best lyrics of the Seventies. Stop hating on him. He’s a genius and we’re lucky to still have him.
@@BETO-y5dHis lyrics are sure as hell better than Polly Sampson! Rog and David both can be arrogant but I can’t blame them for separating, when you have two geniuses it’s incredibly difficult to make it work over the long term. We are lucky we got the 15 or so years of Prime Pink Floyd.
