Amad ali more than likely hes not only a better fighter and smarter than you hes also a nicer guy that doesnt insult people on the internet for no reason. You seem confused.
That was brilliant. At first I’m like why would you do that but when you’ve sparred enough you have etiquette not to hurt your partners. Lol GSP went on and dominated that next fight
GSP: - Has a cool sounding name and accent - Is humble - Is the greatest all round fighter of all time - Was the first to wear a elegant suit at face offs - Is a good looking man even after all that beating. George I salute you.
The level of no ego one must have reached to follow the instructions from Firas when he tells the guy who dropped Georges "not a glove on him this next round" is humbling. This is why I love the fighting community. Yes there are total assholes in there. But in there are also the absolutely best people I've ever met in my life.
Dude I remember when I first started to become fan of his was when that movie came out and I freaked out in the theater when he showed up in the movie.
Faras is such a great trainer. His level of expertise, his approach, his philosophy on training and fighting, all of it makes him so well-suited for that role. He has such a wealth of knowledge and experience. It seems like it’d be impossible to spend 5 minutes with him without learning something new or thinking about something in a totally different way.
Yeah like I would take him over others, but he's the most holistic coach. Duke Roufus is rly good at that too but Firas is also a scientific mind. He's a good head coach. Trevor Wittman is a pretty good head coach; he's very calm and technical. Guys like Bravo, Roach, or Danaher are too specialized imo
@@Penny-wl1ui Arguably? No. Easily? Yes. Edmond is 100% the reason for her downfall. Her striking has always been garbage, And he gave her way too much false confidence In her striking. She has amatuer striking AT BEST and thought she could beat floyd at boxing🤣. Guys like firas are always trying to make the fighter better. When he couldn't make George's movements more fluid, he made george get a gymnastics coach. When he couldn't improve George's hands anymore, they brought in world renowned boxing coach Freddie roach to do so. Edmond thought he was the real deal. The whole package for Ronda. He never changed her game plan, and Hardly improved her striking. And since travis brown switched to Edmond Taverdyans gym he went from 16 wins and 1 loss, to 18 wins and 7 losses. This is a guy who KO'D Stefan struve, Gabriel Gonzaga, Alistar overeem and Josh Barnett! And the instant he switched gyms hes been on a very steady decline. It's easy to say if Ronda had been with firas, She would have been FAR better off.
jeremyfox26 yeah I was being too modest 😂 Edmond is a fucking idiot and combined with Ronda’s mindset (not that her mindset would have been bad with someone like Firas) it was a recipe for disaster. I didn’t know she said she could fight Floyd tho 🤣🤣 Don’t even have words for that one
This guy has a mastermind to train a fighter. Hes the guy you want in your corner. He understands the mind set to build confidence. Wich is a HUGE part of the fight. And he's does it in a very wise way.
As a long time GSP fan, this explains so much about the Dan Hardy fight. It was always his most uncharacteristic fight for me, that I had trouble defending his performance as a fan, but this now makes perfect sense. Never would have thought it was because his chin got cracked so hard in training he had to protect it at all costs
Yeah, Dan is so mentally strong and confident that I think GSP would’ve been in trouble had he stood with him. Instead he put on a grappling clinic and came out unscathed.
@@ajbahus Well, for the little time they were on their feet, Georges was easily winning stand up battle too, but in light of the back story, Hardy was definitely a high risk to eventually land something, even small that could have ended George's night. At the time, I thought maybe they're good buddies and Georges knew how overmatched Dan was and didn't want to destroy and humilate him, so he went in to work on his BJJ game instead and avoid smashing his face to bits, and at the same time try to sell it like Dan was more of an elite challenger than he really was.
@@EVO6- if Demien Maia only trained jiu jitsu & no striking he wouldn't be nearly as good, would get hit alot more & wouldn't get nearly as many takedowns. His striking for mma is actually really effective for his style. Striking in mma is not the same as striking in other sports, striking in mma is solely about how much better it makes you overall. Dan henderson's striking is really good in mma, but in boxing or kickboxing he really sucks.
Imagine Randy Couture boxing against Deontay Wilder.... ouch, right. Now have then stand up together in mma, I dont think Deontay would land shit, nor would couture, but that outcome is because of coutures mma striking.
@@chrisdownum1034 why are you going on this absolute rant because I said demian Maia's striking COACH doesn't matter. Not his ABILITY to strike. It's just that any coach could train what he uses. Actually read the comments thanks
he definitely got the idea from Freddie Roach. Freddie Roach was notorious on doing that in every Manny Pacquiao's sparring session which he revealed back in 2018 if my memory serves me right and GSP was training with Freddie Roach since around 2008-2009. Freddie was offering Manny Pacquiao's sparring partner a 1000 bucks if they knocked Manny down which never happened in his life. Firas definitely learned it from Freddie.
What Firas said beginning about challenge should be the mind set of every teacher, no just in martial arts or sports. As a former elementary school teacher, I learned that the hard way. And in my opinion this is one of the main reasons why there aren't that many competent teachers
Firas has the Philosophical upper hand! Keeping that mental state calm and motivated is also a part of TRAINING! He has the degree and putting that in SOLID ACTION!
This guy is a great trainer. George and Faraz, make a great team. George is such a unique fighter, he is disciplined which is rare. I hope that in the future we will see fighters like George that go through disciplined routines that humble them while making them strong and confident.
One of the best, if not the best coaches to ever do it. Firas is a legend and GSP is to this day still my favorite fighter. Always humble outside the ring and a animal inside it. Now I know why lol.
People need to understand that not everyone is a bodybuilder looking for more muscle size. This is Firas Zahabi, a MMA coach, whose trained GSP. The principal he’s explaining, isn’t designed to optimize lat muscle growth. He’s training professional MMA athletes, who should not be training in a way that has them sore all week. This would take away their ability to train martial arts optimally.
For those who don't know, wanderlei and shootobox, shootobox is a famous Brazilian gym where they just fight full power and knock each other out in training. It produced some incredible fighters like Shogun machida Anderson and wanderlei. Knocking each other out is not a great idea but it definetly hardened guys to fight full power in training.
You are misinterpreting what happened. Anyone can be beat, yes; but the same is true for the guy whom beat them. I would bet good money GSP would have won at least 6 fights out of 10 against whomever it was that knocked him out in practice.
Shafik Bashir it’s so embarrassing that George lost to him. Sera really was not a great fighter or even athlete. Just shows even the best can be beaten when they get too cocky.
Being a great trainer is such an intellectual pursuit. I mean he needs to understand biology, biomechanics, psychology, martial arts, nutrient and the list goes on.
Put Zahabi with any of the up and comers and they will be a champion. Adesanya, Walker, N'Gannou, ANYONE and he could make the, a world champion. Good god he's ridiculous.
That makes a lot of sense about Forrest Griffin. That’s so frustrating for him knowing his chance vs Silva was blown in training. That’s the fight game I guess 🤷🏾♂️
i have won three different tournaments and tbh the only memorable thing was a fight between be and my buddy from Russia who gave a fight so great the different masters thought it was choreographed fight by us bc of the fighting and blocking and advanced attacks.
If I was a fighter I would make it my mission to get to Tri Star ..Physical training is very important but u need to the mental aspect to fully reach your potential and realise your weakness and fix them and build the right level of confidence without giving them a false sense of ability like McGregor then they crumble when they meet resistance ...
@@chuckduck Definitely, Nate for sure had more power than any of them so its possible, especially if it was when he was on the "Replacement Therapy"..When he beat woodley that shit was nasty
