Gsp fought everyone there is no padded resume he was the best ever he could beat the best fighters in the world any way he wanted a true mixed martial artist
GSP is a consummate athlete. He's a seriously focused martial arts technician and a proven World Champion. All Canadians (including myself of course) are very proud of George for his talents; his achievements and most of all, his ambassadorship of the classic good-natured Canadian.

@@dalesfailssagaofasuslord783 What dude that's literally all he wears. He wears rash guards on dates lmao. i've never seen him not in a rash guard. There's UFC behind the scene videos from 2000's with Matt Serra and all he wears is a rash guard. He showed up to a wedding in his rash guard and fanny pack. I believe there's a picture somewhere
Silva held and defended longer than any person that ever fought in the UFC. Fedor.....hes fought some real questionable marches. Khibib has never lost a fight.... GSP is ONE of the greats but he never held any title longer that every other person at his division conbined like Anderson. I like GSP but there is a SOLID argument for him being #2 or #3.
@@youalreadyknow2316 no other fighter considers him the greatest of all time outside his own division. No other fighter or long time practitioner even puts him next to Silva, Jones, Fedor or even Cruz.....guys that held titles lobger than GSP and fought tougher opponents for much longer. If Im that delusional, tell me what makes him better than everyone else and I will shut it down for you with objective, facts. Unless you are either a Trump MMA fan or some liberal dipshit in which case truth and data dosent work on your low, neolithic level.
@Indiana Jones the only people that don’t think he’s the goat welterweight is trash Colby Covington and trash twood so ur argument doesn’t even make sense.
As a Canadian seeing GSP in his prime rolling into the 2010’s. I will forever be grateful for my childhood years watching this man in the golden era of the UFC. THANK YOU GSP!
If you thought that was boring you shouldn't be a fan of mixed martial arts. This guy is like the Dalai Lama of jui-jitsui. I commend GSP for coming back... And knowing what he was dealing with and with the statements John made... I was always a fan, but this just took it up a notch. Much respect. Great interview Joe!
John Danaher : You're harvesting calories and nutrients to maintain your system in a state of homeostasis, so the reason you're eating food is to maintain homeostasis through a hierarchy of foods that are available in your direct environement, the dorito scores more points than the crayon, do you know why ? Joe : "maybe but I love crayons i just eated half a box right now"
Colitis is no joke. Had it when I was 10. You can’t eat, can’t control your bowel movements...surprised he didn’t shit himself in training honestly. What a champion.
The way he speaks is fishing, he takes long pauses to see what Joe will say so he has more to bullshit about. Trump kind of does the same but way dumber, he basically slings shit at the wall and sees what sticks, this guy waits for you to say something and then runs with it making you think that your idea was his.
Thats just the way Danaher is. He's an extremely calculated person in everything - watch his interviews. The guy's a mastermind at BJJ he isn't 'bullshitting'.
Might be, who am to comment in a public forum... I would tell you about my doctorate in psych but that would just prompt you to call bs, hence making it a circular argument.
St. Pierre is undisputably the greatest mma fighter of all time. In the era of steroids in MMA he was clean and still beating people's asses. Jon Jones is fighting in the clean era of MMA and he is taking steroids and beating people's asses. Jon Jones is not even in GSP's rear view mirror.
I understand the admitation for GSP. For me, he and Khabib are the goats. However... Jon Jones is fighting under and in the era of stetoids and PED. All pro level sports are plagued by this and I dont see it getting better. Check the second JR interview with GSP and he glances into the future on this topic (genetic modification for performance enhancement).
@@CarlosMartins-sp6ud Huh GSP fought in the steroids era too and beat them all WHILE clean. He was champion in the UFC before Jones even had his first fight. Jon beat everyone while using Steroids. GSP then came back and went up a weight class during USADA era and won the title. He's undoubtedly the greatest of all time and that's just on accolades alone, when you add in the PED's and him not using them that means there isn't a close second.
I really have a lot of respect for GSP. My uncle who is always in great shape has colitis. He won't from 185 pounds to 120 quickly and can't be far from a bathroom for long. He had his colon removed it got so bad. For GSP to compete at this level with this disease makes him a true warrior.
That's no good to have to have the colon removed. What's also amazing is how GSP won against a field of steroid users. Is that really possible? The difference in genetic potential at that level is relatively small, however the difference with steroids is large, like 10%. There's no way he could be more than 10% genetically superior than all other top elite fighters, so I don't understand how a clean athlete could be dominant over every top elite steroid user.
@@youtubeuser7798 Yes of course. He's 57 but in great shape. He's at the gym every day but it takes a lot between diet and working out to stay healthy. I'm sure his fitness is helping a lot.
Respectfully, you are trying to quantify something (a person's ability to win a fight) that isn't easily quantified. If we were talking about someone's output on a rowing machine, maybe (even then, I'd question your numbers), but fighting is dynamic and complex, with skill, strategy, and heart coming into play along with physical attributes, Of course PEDs confer some advantage (performance enhancement), but to say that it can't be overcome because of 1% this or 10% that would be an oversimplification.
wkmowels there's nothing special about him omg I could listen to him for days lol and that's me doing a joey diaz expression lol he's boring asf looks like a lizard aswell I just hady write to you because ur comment is so fucking cringey
I keep wondering if it's a joke or if people really mean it when they say they love this dude. One of the most boring dude I have listened to, reminds me of an old geography teacher.
Bob smith Haha it's true for a lot of people who use that stand a bang line. Let's be honest (and this is coming from from a person who's been doing jiu-jitsu MMA for almost 2 & 1/2 years and loves it) real fighting is stand up. Rolling around on the ground doesn't get the fans blood going. And if you choose a joy jitsu heavy gameplan your most likely scared to stand up. It's just true, all my opponents start trying to get me down after a minute on the feet they all break, I love it, but I don't like people who make excuses for their fear. Demian Maia is an example of a guy who'll be straight up about fearing standing up with dangerous guys or at least he used to
I watched this 4 years ago and now I'm watching it back with the same condition as GSP and if your having a episode it's almost impossible to describe how hard that camp was especially if he was undiagnosed and still eating healthy high fiber foods that would of only been making him worse
rusty goldfinch not taking account significant strikes and damage. Gsp lost that fight and he knew it. But he is a big ppv draw and judges clearly has some favortism. Gsp is good. Top 5. But not number 1.
GSP was definitely one of the best fighters ever. He trained with the Canadian Wrestling Team. He had an amazing shot and takedown defense that causes you to get stuck underneath in a bad way. GSP's striking was a good mix of all the arts. Pretty good jab. He knows how to move like a boxer and get on your wheels when needed. GSP had it all. It's GSP, Anderson Silva, Mighty Mouse, Jon Jones are the super talents of the UFC. All these fighters are on that super elite fighters list.
@@JeThoreau_ Probably because Khabib fought cans for 80% of his career. His last handful of fights were against elite fighters but George fought a string of all the killers of his era AND moved up to fight a weight-class higher while Khabib retired as a certified weight bully.
As someone who suffers from ulcerative colitis, I can understand how gsp felt . Physically you become drained, anaemic and lose significant weight. Can't eat, and the only way to find respite from the pain is to sleep. How he even managed to eat or fight is remarkable. It isn't just the toilet for an hour or so-its going to the toilet 8 or 9 times a day and bleeding non stop. The cramps are crippling. Hat off to gsp
Georges St. Pierre was always the GOAT. My only regret is I never saw him fight in person. The man is s legend and a true champion in and outside the octagon. I’d love to see him fight again but if his sickness prevents him that’s ok. He’s still the best I’ve ever seen.
I've had moments where stomach pain made it almost impossible to train. Cardio in particular is complete agony with even minor stomach issues. To be in that much pain and act like nothing is wrong takes strength that you don't have. Now that I know what he was going through, I'd say GSP has a superhuman will. It should be impossible for anyone to fight that way, and he gave the best performance of his career. What an absolute legend.
Suffer from ulcerative colitis and got so bad I had to have colon removed. To go and fight so soon after a flare up and even a flare up of colitis on the day of the fight. You don't even know how amazing it is he managed this. Its debilitating. Amazing, I'm amazed
It’s probably the jiu jitsu experience actually. Lots of people are calculated in what they say, very few people are masters of their craft and good at teaching .
Jonny Hendrix moment in the interview, I was like RME because it was on that day after the fight, that George WON, Joe and Dana stepped over the line and crushed GSP. They attacked in such a vicious way that you could see George's win, long time reputation, respect, meant nothing to them. It was the cruelest soul crushing language from them and George was shocked! He couldnt believe it and he felt betrayed. George is a Champion though and he stuffed that shit way down and never even said anything. I like Joe and Dana, but they acted disgracefully that night just because of the excitement and wanting screen time.
I had huge respect for GSP prior to watching this video but after learning about GSP having ulcerative colitis and still fighting, he is without a doubt the greatest MMA fighter P4P ever, by far. A member of my family has ulcerative colitis and it is life changing and completely debilitating and I cannot imagine the courage that GSP had to fight being ill and fighting at the highest level of the game, and winning. Insane courage skill and determination.
Wow, so gsp had a bad camp but still came out with flying colours and never really mentioned about it.And then there is bisping saying he had an injured rib prior and during the fight.
He also had a fake eye. The broken cup they wouldn't let him change didn't help either. GSP still would have won. Less than perfect conditions and both men performed. Champs for a reason
Im a huge fan of both fighters but I believe GSP would handle Khabib and inevitably take the win... but man would that be an amazing fight to watch. GSP is the only fighter near weight with the skills, Intelligence, endurance and grit to handle a Khabib onslaught. Maybe Woodley too. Id be happy if every UFC main event was just those 3 fighting each other over and over again. Hahaha.
Felt that same exact way. GSP came back, got the finish, talked a bit of fun trash and won that belt up a weight class. Nice to see Danaher confirm it.
The fact he made the fight is unreal. GSP has a legit case of ulcerative colitis (UC). I have the exact same disease and something called interstitial cystitis with Hunners Ulcers (IC is like the bladder version of UC). Point is it got so bad I couldn’t even work and I’ve been training all my life. Knowing he’s battled through UC for at least a few championship fights makes me respect him even more. Autoimmune diseases that affect your insides and organs is not like pain from breaking bones or tearing ligaments. It’s next level pain comparative to musculoskeletal pain. And you cannot depend on consistency either. Flares come from fucking nowhere. It can be agonizing. I’ve had 15 surgeries from those two diseases alone (I was diagnosed at 18 and I’m 37. So do the math. Almost a surgery a year). He has nothing to prove fighting Khabib (plus he still has to beat Tony after Dustin anyways). Plus with UC inside a man as big as GSP trying to make 155 might kill him. It’s not worth his health or the long term damage that it will do. Bc there is no cure for these or any autoimmune diseases. He’s gonna have it forever. And yes. Stress makes autoimmune diseases so much worse. You’re a true Martial Artist with nothing left to prove. And no one who doesn’t feel it can make fun of the pain this disease causes - fuck them. You’re already on the Mt. Rushmore of MMA
well I'm not an expert but his seems slightly different. His was caused from over eating, he didn't have it before. From what you've described, yours seems to be genetic (correct me if I'm wrong). That might be more treatable, but I'm just guessing.
He sounds like that interesting, thoughtful, intelligent and charming guy you chat with at the bar, that will completely destroy everyone if shit starts up. He is not looking for a fight... but....
28:30 One of the things the GSP haters just don't get. I simply cannot fathom how anyone can accuse him of juicing when he has always been so outspoken about the widespread use of steroids and been the largest proponent for stringent drug testing with much stiffer punishment. GSP has always been a clean fighter fighting roided out monsters. Makes an even stronger case for him being GOAT.
@Kirk Landau you'd think guys like Jones and Anderson making so much more money than other fighters back then would of had even better access to even more efficient drugs
Joe, “when you don’t have a background in striking ...”. 0.57. In one of Joes latest videos he asks Gordon Ryan who their striking coach for MMA is. “John is our striking coach, he did 10 years May Thai before he did BJJ. He’s an expert”.
Man, the way this guy talks... it's incredible. He commands respect and sounds so interesting all the time, like he's providing some ancient knowledge every sentence. He needs to be cast in a movie role lol.
GSP elevated the sport. Say what you want about how Lidell, Ortiz, Cotoure popularized MMA. But it in those days MMA was seen nothing more as human cockfighting. Its fighters were not even seen as athletes. GSP was one of the first who showed up in prefight conferences wearing a suit. He had charisma, and rarely engaged in trashy behavior. He acted like a gentleman and a professional. Most of all, he is what every martial artist should try to be.
Firas likes to manage every thing in his athlete's training. This would impede on a genius like Danaher and would limit his ability to fully teach GSP without the micro managing of Firas. Firas is still as genius too.. just an interesting coaching dynamic
I know a taekwondo Olympian select that whenever he throws a kick and connects it rocks the entire gym people just stop mid training turn and look because of the sound the impact makes. And that’s him at 50%.
