I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

I worked for him at Tesla, the culture at these companies (although requiring rigorous work) is amazing and we were there because we believed in his missions. I moved on, but it was a really great experience. His all hands meetings were insane, funny and unlike no other from the companies I've worked for 🤣

@@DevRel1 I am a big fan of Elon and Tesla… and have read comments about how he’s such a selfish Billionaire for getting his ‘compensation package’ but laying off 15k employees. Without going into details, I can understand why a business would do this. As a former employee of Tesla, can I ask how you feel about this company decision? I would just always like to be as informed as possible, especially from people who have personal experience rather than hearing for super one sided opinionated people with only 3rd party knowledge. 🤔

The only part of this I disagree with is the quote “in our lifetime”. I would say he’s one of the most important people in many generations. We’re lucky to be alive at the same time as somebody who will go down in history and be remembered for a very, very long time. I can’t believe that people don’t see it and don’t wonder at the coolness of being alive at the same time a person such as this is. And, being able to read his words in real time via X, or watch him stream games for five hours and just free flow his thoughts real time. Just the coolest thing ever and I'm trying to savor all of it.

There's a difference. Yes, I admire his team a lot! Love tesla, but would i trust Elon say if he were to run for president? Fuck no. I was a huge Apple fanboy back in 91 throughout the 90s. Jobs was the man. So, i could see why people follow Elon like we did Jobs, but they both had different takes on civility. Jobs was more of a buddhist type, Elon is more of a societal disrupter and not in the sense of technical disruption which he does well.

He's easy to hate but hard to understand. Where it gets interesting is that the more you look into the man, and the more you peel the layers back, you see someone that wants to propel the human race forward. In terms of technology, lifestyle, and intellect. He only does what he thinks is best for humanity and is willing to change his mind if someone presents a better idea or better way to do things. Unlike most leaders he listens to others and therfore tries to surround himself with the brightest minds on this planet. You don't have to agree with him, you don't have to like him, but I have a lot of respect for someone that lives by what they believe in and leverage that to provide tangible results.

I don't think most people understand how profound Elon's disdain for patents is. He doesn't believe in protectionism, he believes in out innovating the competition. great observation! yeah that part of elon is absolutely underrated. with that he secures not only that things go well during his lifetime, but also in case of his death. he gave his intellectual property to the people with that. that is one of the greatest gifts for humanity, if you are smart enough to actually build something useful edit: I gotta say the more i think about it, the more I see someone who potentially COULD be on either side. you never know. but this one thing about making it opensource...thats what gave me the trust in him in the end

As a mom of a grown Autistic man, I am in awe of Elon Musk. He “outted” himself on SNL years ago. He has Asperger’s (which is on the the Autism spectrum). Many people with Asperger’s are geniuses. I had a friend who had a son and when he grew up, MIT, Harvard, etc were after him ( full rides). President Trump would do well if he made Elon head of the Space Program, unless it meant a conflict of interest! I love Elon!

Elon explained his strategy for X recently and it's brilliant. He's leveraging AI to better understand the viewer so it can be hyper personalized so the viewer likes the ad rather than just tolerating it. No other AD platforms go to such lengths to match relevant ads to interested viewers. Most people find most ads annoying. Ultimately Twitter ads will be far more effective and therefore command more revenue for X.

Starlink is a massively underrated play, too. Those who would censor us will attack at all levels: social media companies (so he buys x), payment processors (he's long wanted to have his own bank, that's what PayPal started out as), servers (x has plenty of its own), internet connectivity... so he puts his own internet in space, for global access, outside the jurisdiction of any nation, can't be taken down like standard fiber optic lines. Data isn't being copied and stored by the NSA. Elon is for freedom. He's helping us build a parallel society. He's the bulwark against fascism and totalitarianism.

I’m 77 a grandma and very conservative. I also like Elon Musk. Why? Because he has a heart. He cares in amongst all of his idiosyncrasies. He is a good decent human being. God created him for a purpose as well as anybody else. Whether he knows it or not God’s hoping he too, will follow the plan. I think he’s on his way. I must admit he’s a little sci-fi, but his basic interests are important and good for Humanity. Every bit of Elon Musk, every molecule, every piece of DNA, was specifically given to him by the God of the universe. He’s in this world to make a difference and he’s doing that. @@Madracer09 How about a few: Neuralink, autonomous driving via nothing but vision and neural nets, catching rockets from the air to make them lighter and faster to turn around, using electric car motor heat for useful work and integrating all the heat consuming and generating components, harvesting extra heat from ultra efficient motors via temporarily running them inefficiently to render dedicated heater unnecessary, dry assembled LI batteries, car running on nothing but a ton of existing tech Li batt cells, most cost effective simple efficient rocket engines ever made, produced at unheard of rates....just off top of my head. But it's not so much *original ideas* that count, ideas are cheap and easy, it's the execution.

Elon is also a person that is able to change the way he thinks when presented with facts. In an interview a couple years ago with Everyday Astronaut, the interviewer asked him about something that could change performance of the new big rocket…. You see Elon think about it in real time and within seconds, he’s like, that could work…. The next test flight, that idea was put into action. He’s a genius but he’s also smart enough to know, others might have good ideas too.

I think a lot of it is the ability to hire really good people who talk straight with you and don't tailor the messages trying to tell you what they think you want to hear. If you stay on top of technological advances and get really good information then staying on top of a business becomes a lot more possible.
