Yeah, I learned about that in class today actually. It was shown as a sign of beauty because a ruler saw a model do it and loved it so much that all the other women did it to themselves and their daughters in order to make them more favorable. Other than the fact that flip-flops will absolutely destroy your feet and they are a horrible foundation to stand on. Your foot literally Hass to clean to the flip-flop with every step in order to keep it on, and the material used is almost always horrible quality and if you look at people wearing flip-flops just standing there you will see how caved in their ankles stance is. Something I personally noticed when I run it is easier to get in a proper running form barefooted than in a pair of shoes. To double up on that, I also find myself gripping the ground with my two big toes as I run which I feel honestly helps with ease emotion. @@Pugetwitch oh it is pretty harsh It helps if the ground is soft, with the droughts we've had this year not to much soft ground. But if you are constantly trying to improve your running form while running barefooted, you will notice you find yourself running on the " balls of your feet" really for me is typically the balls two big toes on my feet that I find myself running on to help absorb the impact. The key to running like this is to make sure you keep your feet pointed the whole time which is honestly exhausting to the Cavs and lower leg. Honestly not as bad on my hips and knees as it is when I run and choose because I don't heel strike as much when I'm barefooted which keeps me from shocking my knees and hips every step.

Shoes really harmed my feet, I have many different calluses on my feet and for the longest time my legs didn't have good balance when walking but over the years of wearing slippers and crocs instead of shoes my feet have been healing well and I've regained some good balance on my feet

Merrell has some more affordable options (still around $100, but they last way longer than a $20 pair of cheap shoes). Vibram Five fingers has a variety of shoes with varying pricing, as long as you're okay with toed shoes. Vivobarefoot is expensive as hell but very very nice quality and longevity (pretty much all of them you will wear holes in the sole before anything else breaks). All of them often have discounts and sales around holidays and pre-seasons (summer and winter usually) if you can't afford them full price.

I went to a seminary for a year where they wanted to keep the carpets in classes clean so they can be used as a prayer space if needed. So we would take off our shoes before going into the school of the building. This meant I was wearing shoes for maybe an hour or two a day (in the car, groceries, gym, etc). 1. Foot binding is not the feet adapting. It's the feet being broken on purpose, and then bound so that they heal a certain way. Bad example. 2. Idk about others, but i go barefoot anytime i can, even at work, and it has done nothing for my arches. Maybe it only strengths the arch if you have one naturally. But for me, who is flatfooted... yeah, no. It actually makes my feet and eventually my whole body hurt, and i have to wear shoes with orthotics for relief. Im all for going barefoot and wearing better shoes, but at least provide accurate info.

@dflaming1371
@dflaming1371 2 года назад
I was born with ridiculously flat feet. After an injury in my childhood my knees hurt every single day. Aching, sometimes hot or burning, and the ligaments would cramp so hard I would just collapse and scream in pain. It was like my leg was getting twisted off at the knee. Doctors said I would be in a wheelchair by 30. I didn't like that, so I started a journey. The first thing I did was balance my walk. The insides of my shoes wore out before the soles, so I would intentionally roll on the outside of my foot and make sure I put pressure on the foot as a whole at the end of the stride. In a year, I wasn't walking on the inside of my feet or having my knees turn inwards. In another year, I had gained the strength needed to not focus on every single step and could walk naturally. Junior year I took up kickboxing. It was one of the hardest I've ever worked, and withing a month my knees, hips, and back didn't hurt at all. My body had the strength it needed to support all those old, ill treated injuries. Then I graduated and got a job. In half a year, it all returned. Poor working conditions cause horrible stress and declining mental health. I was in stiff shoes on hard floors, standing and walking and lifting over 10 hours for 5-6 days a week. It was miserable. The pain went from my knees to my hips, spine, neck and eventually shoulders, strains and injuries piled up until I was receiving another before healing from the first. After a transfer to a much better place, I started at square one again. I researched everything under the sun. I had to wear a light compression wrap on both knees every day. Then go home and work out to ensure I wasn't causing too much weakness from the support. It took 4 years for me to move to a tendon wrap, but it did reduce the pain, reduce swelling, and help me not twist anything. I put gel heel supports in my shoes. Not full gels as they can reduce foot stability, or memory foam as it only lasts an hour. During the worst of it I was also wearing a wrap around back brace, driving to work with a neck brace, and sleeping with braces and pillows keeping my neck still, joints supported and bent or lifted for relaxation. I had to get up at 4 or 5 for work and would do a round of therapy stretches as I found ones that helped. Three years of living like this, but it did cut the pain. A lot. It was a lifetime of injuries catching up, but they were getting dealt with all at once. It was brutal, but not as brutal as living in agony with no hope. I picked up a Katana and watched as my upper back, shoulders and neck all strengthened and fell into place. It was slow going, but I got there. At almost four years everything seemed fixed-except my actual feet. The meat of them was hurting with an all consuming ache and burn. I kept buying doctor recommended shoe after shoe and it got worse and worse. Because they were all narrow shoes DESIGNED to squeeze your foot for "support". My toes were all folded almost on top of one another. I bought a man's pair of work shoes, and my feet were still sore, but in a working muscle kind of way. The next pair were a mens 3e wide. I could feel my toes flexing and moving, as I watched my stride I noticed, for the first time on my life, I has an arch. Just a little bitty one, but still there. Now, as long as I keep up on my leg exercises--i never run downhill, and when I walk downhill I really bend my knees so the muscles take the impact instead of the joint, I work squats with slightly outurned feet and knees, keep up on back stretches-- I have a better body in my my mid 20s than I did as a child. Most people don't want to put in that kind of work. But there is no majic pill. I'm telling you it's worth it.

I am SO used to walk barefoot or with sandals, and when I am in the gym and I work my legs I really feel my toes wanting to collaborate to lift. In fact, the sneakers always feel too soft when I'm working out, and I have to put extra effort to keep my balance. That contrasts a lot with how easy I find it to keep my balance while barefooted due to many years of barefoot dancing. I completely understand the importance of shoes, but I honestly am way more comfortable when barefoot and properly grounded, and in tricky (walking) situations I trust my feet much more when I can feel the floor. If I could be sure I wouldn't break a toe if accidentally hitting something/wouldn't get a cut/wouldn't get an infection, I'd spend my life barefoot

The reason it looks like that is because it’s like a hand if you walk correctly you grip the ground and pull yourself forward. To activate all muscles properly walking you should grip and grab traction through foot and claw yourself forward into direction
