It was a direct line, not a cab with a mic. I would like to hear the cab. I have been looking for videos of Synergy modules and Synergy amps with a mic, but there are not very many. around. It's been a few years! There should be more by now. It's getting harder to find videos of many amps with cabs. People are so focused on the cab sims. I want to know what the amp sounds like. I am not as impressed with the direct line sounds and I want to know how the amp will sound live. I really want to know if the 50/50 rack mount amp is the same as playing through a loud Marshall. There is a punch to the quality that Marshall has more than anyone else. Just something about the amp design that really makes you feel it. I would have to drive 2 hours to try out Synergy amps, so I am looking for some good online reviews.

AnAmericanGuitarist My thoughts on the Synergy vs Marshall boils down to the power tubes: 6L6 vs EL34. The 6L6 power tubes in the Synergy, Fender Twin, even the Fryette Power Station, produce a rich, wide-ranging & even frequency distortion when pushed. Benefit of this is you probably get a clearer sense of the preamp module’s character. EL34 power amp distortion is more focused and punchy - you also FEEL it as much as hear it. I would suggest that having EL34 power tubes in the Synergy amp would sound great but would make each Synergy preamp module less distinct. I theorise that that’s the reason they went with the 6L6 power tubes in Synergy amps.

@@BradPham You're probably right with the 6L6s. I used a Marshall 9200 power amp with a JMP-1 preamp for years and I like the 5881 tubes in the 9200 a lot. I really liked the rack gear better than amp heads too, but I use a Marshall JVM410HJS head and a 1960B cab now. I do like the sound of the Soldano module, even the direct out sound in this video. It's nice. I like the mids, the saturation and the character. It will probably sound even better through a power amp and cab. My JVM410HJS has a good Direct Out sound, but the sound is fuller and demands more attention when amplified through speakers. I haven't been able to actually play through the Synergy stuff yet, but the SLO is the one module that gets a good sound in every video and the one that seems to inspire everyone playing through it. Other module videos vary so the same module sounds great in one video and disappointing in another.

@@AnAmericanGuitarist Have seen videos of JMP-1 preamp and 9200 but haven't yet been in the same room as one. I notice Satch uses the 1960b cab too. I expect it has more punch and low end than the quite loose 1960a cab. The JVM410HJS emulated out is definately voiced for the G12T-75 speaker. Good to see your views on the Soldano module! Thanks. A couple of outlets for the Synergy gear here in Australia, not too many by the looks of it. Fantasic concept. Some literature says the Syn-50 is based around a 2 x EL34 power section but has 6L6 power tubes!? The rack power amp and Syn-30 are both 6L6 power sections, I believe.
