growing up, there was soo much emphasis on Van halen, and while he is such a legend and an icon i always gravitated more toward Satriani, when i played, i wanted to sound like him, the articulation, the pure emotion and expression. Van Halen will always be the goat but when youre with Satriani, that doesnt matter, cause you're Surfin with the alien.
@meteaorheartofficial I dont want to sh*t on Van Halen BUT Steve Vai and Joe Satriani were allready 3 x better then Van Halen arround 1995 or so. Steve Vai could allready Play Like Van Halen in 1981 when he was 18 years old. Plus Satriani s Strange Beautiful Music is perhaps the Best Hard Rock Instrumental Album from Start to Finish EVER Written not One Bad or Boring Song on it.
@@sheldoncooper8199 while i wont argue with you, i will say that at that level better is subjective, and both Steve Vai AND Satriani talk about the influence Eddie had on both of their sounds, he paved the way with his sound, he kicked open doors, and blew peoples minds, and while he didnt invent finger tapping he popularized that sound and technique and exposed it to the world. There is also the fact that Satriani has always been more into instrumentals while Van Halen was more of a band in whole. Steve Vai , to me, as great as he is, always seemed like an Eddie Van Halen knock off growing up, not to take away from his technical ability its just, Van Halen has a sound, Satriani has a sound, Vai just sounds like those two guys. I digress, theyre all wonderfully talented musicians whom i, and you are very fortunate to be able to enjoy the art they create, stay happy and healthy, and keep enjoying the music you love.
@@meteorheartofficial I think Steve Vai has his own sound. but Yeah i guess every guitarist that came after Van Halen build on what he did. I mean even Paul Gilbert calls him his biggest influence. Love Vai and Satriani and i am Happy they are Friends and Do an Album together.
When is part 3 coming out? The beginning of part 3 will be the original music they recorded together when Joe was teaching Steve, can’t wait to hear it. 🙏🏼
Joe puts out a new album every 2 years almost like clockwork. Usually in the spring. So I was searching this morning to see if there was anything. Still hoping for 2024...
