New single Out Now: satchvai.lnk.to/TSOEID
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai (Satch & Vai) collaborate for the first time on new music with this single and video that recalls the beginning of their 50 year-long friendship. Result: a whole lot of awesomeness and a trip back to the 70's (courtesy of director Z.Z. Satriani)!
A special thank you from Joe Satriani himself -
I want to take a moment to thank the extremely talented actors that make this video so much fun to watch:

And, of course, for our fearless director ZZ Satriani (IG: @zzsatriani), a standing ovation for his unbridled imagination and flawless execution.

@@kirkhunter146 Part 1 of the solo section is played by Vai, Part 2 is played by Satriani. This is what is happening objectively. That they have added licks or effects in the style of the other might be a subjective interpretation. Have a nice day.

A conversation between the two was once published in Japan's Young Guitar Magazine. I think it was in the 90's. During that conversation, Steve said, ``I'd like to co-produce an album together someday. I'd like the title to be ``Sea of Emotion.'' Nice! Two great Long Island guitarists. I played with a few others, like Al Pitrelli and the late female guitar wiz Ronni Crooks (who was also a protege’ of jazz great Billy Bauer, who Satch also studied with.) A Vai story…I was sent to “my Father’s Place” club around ‘82 to review Steve self-releasing his first solo album, “Flexible.” I brought my drummer along and remember how we thought Steve was our guitarist Eric Rudy (from PA,) who had recently left to replace Steve Morse in the remaining Dixie Dregs, when Via went solo. Vai LOOKED and PLAYED just like our guy Eric. It was like a “Twilight Zone” episode. After we realized it was indeed two different guys…Steve’s mom and dad walked over to our table. They had heard I was there to write a review, so the came to say hi and give me a promo copy of “Flexible”…and inside, on a napkin, his mom wrote “Please write something nice about our son, he’s a good boy.” I STILL have that album and napkin.

Joe Satriani changed the world back in '70s by his unique taste of music and creation of unbeatable melodies. God bless him. I am glad that Joe Satriani and his former top student Steve Vai are still together and best friends for 5 decades and still better than everyone else. ❤

I love the melody. Always with me always with you is the best song by Joe and for the Love of God is my favorite by Steve. I love this song. I met Joe Satriani at the grand opening of the Mall of America where he autographed my Extremist CD. 1992/93. My hands were sweaty and i was so nervous when i shook his hand. He rolled his eyes.

The stellar musicianship and composition is no surprise. But the humour is. Full Wayne and Garth mode, just a couple of goofy teenage stoners. Bravo gentlemen. Five stars to the wardrobe team.

02:30 - wow, we the fans have been waiting our entire lives for this moment, when Steve Vai solos on a Satriani recording (or vice-versa!). The two guys' shared history needs no further elaboration by me and instrumental guitar fans know the G3 concert series brought these men together on a shared stage so many years ago. But this is the first time to my knowledge where there's been a formal recording featuring the two men like this. Kudos guys, I wish many happy years of playing and recording to come for both of you.
