I saw Dave during this tour. His speakers blew up. He was soooo pissed. Great guy. Just don't piss him off. I thought he was going to beat up his techs. Guess what?! Joe just kept playing. Lol
Joe is fantastic, but there are many guitar players all around the world which are amazing and don't ever miss a note, go to see Andy Timmons, for example... a lot of expression, virtuosity and precision. And what about Guthrie Govan?.....
This is why Joe is incredible - not just for his virtuosic guitar skills, but for being able to write top notch, memorable instrumentals such as this. It is one thing to be able to play, it is another to write incredible, thematic instrumentals, which is what Joe always does successfully.
exactly man. anyone can play as Marty Friedman has said. anyone who has trained 24*7 in a closed room for a decade will be able to play anything his/her heart desires. but achieving the tonality and creativity and writing such memorable and heart touching music takes a whole next level of creativity and passion for the art.
Exactly, i have not heard any other guitarist who could compose music like him. It sounds like each and every note has fallen at the right place. He is simply incredible.
Quick story about this song. I heard it on the radio back in 04 or so, and loved it, but didn't know the name of it. With no lyrics, I couldn't Google anything to help, and there were no apps or smartphones to help back then. I spent years trying to figure out what it was, randomly hearing it on the radio every so often. Finally found it after like 4 years or so on a "best guitar solo" list. Nearly cried when I heard it. Been a satch fan ever since.
This is exactly what I was just talking about to a friend of mine tonight. I spent 10 hours downloading this performance about 13 years ago and now it's just one click away. It's utterly nuts how times have changed.
04, lol. Now imagine 10 years earlier when it was new, no internet to help figure out what you just heard. I sat there all day listening to the radio hoping, praying to hear it again..
WE are in 2023. It's been nearly 30 years that i listen to that song and still have shivers. Formula 1 on PlayStation made me discover Joe's World, And ever since I played guitar and that song, which may one if my very favorite. I Love you Joe ! You're a LEGEND
Props to the dude playing rhythm guitar. What a team player that really deserves more recognition filling out the sound of the band than he’ll ever get. What a fantastic gig. 🤘
whats wrong with freakin weirdos ,ill bet theres something about you thats strange,we all have our secrets,me i dont give a fk what people think,i enjoy life ,you are not here to judge people .
This...this kids is music...real instruments, real musicians...soul...a groove and talent. Joe, this is my fave song of all time ever, never stop rockin man!
Joe Satriani is THE dictionary definition of instrumental electric guitar. He collaborates with such talented musicians you can read their joy of working with Joe Satriani. Massive respect to Joe.
History has never seen a man like Joe Satriani, and will never see anyone great like him. Satch is the real meaning of an unrepeatable and complete musician and guitarist. 🎶🎶❤❤👍👍
Saw him live 3 times, each one with Stu Hamm on bass. His precision is unmatched, his sound control is unmatched . His music goes somewhere instead of just a bunch of fast scales played. He is the God of 'burn guitar".
This song reminds me of a gorgeous summer day, flying down the highway with your hand out the window and the wind blowing your hair around, and this FABULOUS song blasting out of your radio!!! Every time I hear this song I get such a huge smile! Pure joy!!!!!!
I´m a guitarist and Joe Satriani ´s guitar solos has been a great source of inspiration to me as long as I´ve played. (about 20 years now.) Keep up the good work, Joe!
The crowds aren't there to party, they're there to watch him play and perform. They want to see him do it Live. That's the majesty of Satriani's performance. No spectical: Everyone saying Prove It. And he's done it for years, longer than anyone else. He's an Alien. 👽🎸🎶
Don't know how many times I've enjoyed this. Highly refined talent, from Joe's fast fret work to his extended trilling note - and that final crashing chord. The entire band is top-shelf. Helluva perfomance!
Joe is amazing, but can we give some love to Jeff Campitelli? He’s a machine! His drumming on the Crystal Planet album is some of the best I’ve ever heard.
Always cracks me up when people come to these video performances of star players and want to give love to the backing band members by name. Yeah, of course they're going to be great, a fucking master of virtuosic guitar isn't going to be playing live with a shit backing band!
He’s playing a great power groove that is what Joe needs here. Some drummers overplay when in this situation, but Jeff plays exactly what is needed for the song, no more no less. And his DW kit sounds fantastic if I may say so….
Sadly it was Jimi Hendrix's passing that inspired a 14 year old kid to pick up a guitar and never, EVER look back. Jimi must be smiling like a proud big brother to say WOW and I thought I was good!! JS the benevolent space Alien guitar god and my go to axe hero!!!
Jimi Hendrix did have his moments where he was unmatched by anyone. Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock and Machine Gun off of his Band of Gypsies album.
Such a fun song that gets me so pumped and happy ever time I hear it. Im not old enough to know what it was like to live in the 80s but I bet this is what it felt like. Sweet performance of an awesome song, from a great album.
I was incredibly lucky to watch these guys (each and everyone) live... it was the SWaA anniversary tour... my favorite Sathch's album with my favorite live line up (Jeff, Dave and Glenn playing with the master)... still got huge goosebumps for that performance...
I started listening to Joe many years ago, back when he had hair! He, in my opinion, is one of the greatest guitarists & there are lots of them out there! Keep on keeping on Joe - yu’re the man!!
The performance at the Grove in Anaheim, next to Angel stadium. What a wonderful event. Joe appreciates his fans and responds with enthusiasm. Thanks Joe, for taking us musically to places we didn't know existed.
So far I have not heard a better version of this song. Listened to it way over 100 times. By now I get most of it, not all, but most. Boy, what a ride. Listen to it at half speed and it'll still be just as precise. It's uncanny.
Thanks for being a great friend to me and I really appreciate your support 💓 and I will always make you feel great 💖💖 kindly drop your Joesatriana8@gmail.com
I went to see him live back in 2016, whatever he does at @5:12 hit right in the spot. So amazing guitarist, and I'm happy I got to see him live. One of the greatest!
I know not many people even realise the difficulty in live sound, blending the bass with the kick drum, making the rhythm background without losing power, making the lead stand out without sounding screechy. This set up is simply perfection. Go ahead and turn it up, it'll sound better.
