Joe Strummer more worried about quality in music than popularity. What a class act

Rare that the Journalist (here Tony Wilson) actually did what he questioned an artist on (here the Clash). Wilson's Factory records and Joy Division showed what you could do without a major record label. I've always wondered if the Clash wished they'd been on an indie label.

I think that it's Granada music show "so it goes", hosted by the late Tony Wilson.. not sure if it was broadcast in the London area?

It can be easy to forget that the Clash didnt tour USA for some time ...though Joe&mick had been to NY(?) mixing up '...Rope'
