As a 60 Yr old now I started collecting vinyl all over again. Along the way picking up James Gang, Eagles, and then Joe Walsh records. Always loved his tunes, but noticed his crazy sense of humour looking at his vinyl. Joe Walsh albums are all wacky covers, funny, openings on the wrong side, labeled goofy, like puzzles, I love it! its his way of saying who gives a shit about standards, it about the ride. This vid makes all sense now.
I probably would have gone out with him in the ol days!! I just think he's just incredibly talented and I have loved his music & the eagles always raised my kids on this music 🎶 ❤ and makes feels complete JOY!! WHAT MORE CAN ASK FOR JOY FROM SOMEONE... BEAUTIFUL !!
Me! Saw him in 78 for the first time! Saw him this year and will continue to see him as long as went both alive! The dude gets better with time! Who still listens to Joe Walsh...shit dude the whole fucking world!!
I bought 'Got Any Gum' when I heard on KLBJ FM in Austin, YEARS ago, that Joe Walsh would soon be doing a 'meet n greet' at Budget Tapes and Records, waited in the Incredibly Lonng line, while Joe told stories and jokes and ASSURED us all that he would not be leaving at the designated time given for the event, but would be there until Everyone got there turn. And when I got my turn, I asked him to please sign my album "To Rochelle, (my mom), From the Best Eagle, Joe Walsh". To which he obliged.😎 I thanked him and expressd that THAT was in both of our opinions, (with due respect to ALL band members 😌🙏), the Truth of the matter.🎸🤟🏼 And I WON 🙂 on her birthday.😀 Thanks again Joe. You ARE the Coolest😎.
My teenage years spent dragging the strip in my 68 El Camino with girlfriends, windows down, 8-track cranking out Joe Walsh - good stuff, good memories - thank you!
I love Joe Walsh. I saw him perform with the Eagles in 1978. One of the greatest musicians to ever grace the stage however his Dynamic personality outshines them all for sure for real.
Joe gave me my first guitar lessons when i was 4 yrs old. it was a trade off for using my brothers silvertone amp when he played the bars of Kent State University. this was back in 1963-64. he turned my parents on to getting me involved in music fulltime, and now i can thank him for giving me a music career, though not a famous career, it is still a life in music that has paid all my bills since the 1970s. by the way...back then, he lived in a Volkswagon bus and ate a lot of bologna and mustard sandwiches. he couldn't afford an amp and was teaching local kids guitar to make extra money. i would love to contact him personally and give him a big thank you. doubt if he remembers that time in his life, but i do.
- A friend of mine who died of lung cancer last year told me about going to see Joe perform years ago. He said Joe was very drunk and couldn't sit on his stool without falling off occasionally. He said Joe never missed a note and played perfectly. Total professional. Drunk but totally pro.
I think the syndrome that happens when someone has been sober for a long time after been drunk for a long time they call it a dry drunk or a wet brain I forget whether you have a wet brain or you're a dry drunk but one of those syndromes holds true I guess you could guess you could have a wet brain and be a dry drunk or could you have a wet brain I don't know anyway
4/28/2023 What a great way to tell this story. It's nice to see and hear someone be honest and self abasingly funny about his former life. For me, I was in attendance when Joe and "The James Gang" played their last bar gig, at a club called "The Jail" in Strongsville, Ohio, the night before the went to record their first album. It was the first time `I ever saw or heard them too. I've followed Joe's career ever since, something I hardly ever do. We've been loosing a lot of folks recently, I hope Joe lives for ever, well, not really, just a long time to come. ;-)
Joe Recently said that "He and his band didn't know what they were doing on stage." I still don't think he fathoms how brilliant him and The Eagles were. Common I think with music artists of his caliber. Such perfectionists.
This is one of my mom's favorite songs. Thanks to her, I was exposed to some great music at an early age. I guess you could say I was rocking in the crib. 🎸👶❤ Thanks, Mom.... Miss you!
"One of the most terrifying things that ever happened to me is that Keith Moon decided he liked me." I love that statement. You just know an amazing story is coming after a statement like that.
That was cool and funny to finally find out how that great song came about.. God that song brings back great memories of my and the boys (my dad my brother and me); and my sister riding on a long trip to it think it was Stanford springs for a swap meet.. and it had to be like near or after midnight and were all jamming to the radio.. listening and singing the long version of life's been good .. and just having a blast.. when I hear the song it makes me laugh, smile and cry for the memories.. God my parents brought us up right .. with the best of every thing especially our love for music... thank you Joe Walsh and all the other great bands that gave us the most awesome pantheon of music throughout our lives!! ❤🎼🎵🎶
It was a Sunday morning back in about 1981 -- up on Sugarloaf Mtn in Boulder, CO -- and there was a knock on the door. I opened the door and -- whoa -- it was Joe Walsh. He said he had run his car into a ditch and would I help him get it out of the ditch. Heck, yeah! After about an hour of tires spinning and mud and snow flying all over the place we got his Mercedes out of the ditch. He shook my hand and said "Thanks" and motored on down the road.
Met Joe sometime 1970-72 doing stage work at a JAMES GANG concert. Joe was really nice, but also really high. They were great, but you could tell Joe was special. So glad he cleaned up and life had been good to him. Love ya Joe!!!
You sir, are one of the best ever! A guitar in your hands just fits, and what comes out is like a statement of your life of fantastic music! It is like it is part of you, it speaks for you! I will always cherish the music that you are involved in! 😊🎸💤👍👏😁🇺🇲♾️
Sometimes I enjoy a lyric story more than the song, but Joe nailed it. I love it both. Remembering vagely from the press back then that he was in trouble trshing hotel rooms all over the tour routes. Glad he had an acountant "who paid for it all".
I saw him live at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas in September. He was jumping up and down, he sang like a banshee, and he could really play his guitar.
I saw the Eagles when they were on their History tour, months before Glenn's death. When I heard the opening riffs of this song, I involuntarily jumped up and screamed. The people in front of me turned to look and one of them asked hubs, "Is she OK?" Good Times. I've been huge fan of Joe's since 'Funk 49' when he was still with The James Gang.
Saw the Eagles on my 28th birthday at Riverfront in Cincinnati. The addition of Joe to an already great group was icing on the cake. The 70's were a total badass collection of rock.
I absolutely LOVE Joe! He's such a genuine guy &I think even funnier sober. He & Felder together on dueling guitars was sheer magic. I miss that so much.
I just think Joe is 1 of the greatest guitar players there is ? He be Downtown Detroit at Hart Plaza during the 4th of July w/ Rick Derringer , Lesley West , Johnny Winter . And there was the Grande Prix I'd go every yr just to go see Joe Walsh ! God Bless u Joe Walsh !
f-ing Joe, I flat-out love the guy. From early James Gang to The Smoker You Drink and The Eagles and all the great solo work, what a treasure. So glad he beat his alcohol problem. What a great guitar player, a seriously great player. Not just a player but a truly great musician! Guys like him inspired me to first pick up the guitar and 40 years later I just want to say thanks.
Joe comes across as a very personable fellow. A friend of mine knows him because they share a common hobby. Joe’s been over to his house. He’s just a normal, decent guy.
I had the honor of meeting Mr. Walsh several years ago after a show he did at the House of Blues, here in New Orleans. We're both veteran guitarists of the N.O. music scene, but had never had the priveledge of seeing the artists dressing room at the H.O.B.. It was NICE! I know, duh. My friend and I both held Joe's playing in the highest regard and could easily have picked his brain for hours, but as gracious and polite as he was we could tell he was beat and kept our comments short. I told him how amazing his voice sounded. I told him that I,too, had been sober a good while. He nodded with approval and thanked me for the comp. My friend made a joke about the Drew Carey show, like"Hey I didn't know you were an actor and a guitar player! " Joe is a special guy, a special musician and a very special guitarist. Thanks, Joe.
Gawd… Love the Eagles - My parents raised me right!!! And this guy!! I know he has ties to my hometown of Wichita… I went to the ‘When Hell Freezes Over’ tour here in ICT… Over 15 years ago… He played his heart out for us… Longest guitar solo… EVER!! Great memories!!! Thank you for the memories!! 💙 🎶 🎸
I saw Joe Walsh when he opened for the Doobie Brothers back in the early 90s. He was far better than them, entertainment-wise, and it was one of the absolute best concerts I’ve ever been to. On the Navy base in San Diego. Eight dollar admission and two dollar beers! Crazy, right?
its an anthem for any one , or every one whos ever worked in the music industry. thanks for the song Joe. Its a life statement. and with a reply from Joe Walsh himself , and i would consider my life complete.

This is a good lesson. Even if you think you've seen all the versions, check it out. You might find a gold nugget. And that's what Joe gives us in this one. Thanks Joe!
