@@jasbb2 i agree the media be doing to much, however he just did what the media does. He quoted a 3rd party source as it was true, and made a statement not a question. Joel had to to say no i didn't...lol. It's the media's job to ask questions. The whole sports world is media driven and is part of the money making process that these athletes enjoy. He needs to stop crying about it
EVERYONE forgets that Embiid called out Tisse. He never bitched and moaned about it, he worked on his game. Players have to hold each other accountable in order to succeed
Big respect for Joel, he still to this day believes he and Ben could have won, the issue for Ben was Morey and maybe his coach, remember Ben agreed on the extension when Brown was coach and Brand was GM. Things changed when they both stepped down and Morey's first interviews he barely mentioned Ben, it was all about Joel. I hope Joel gets his ring.
@@andrewzapata9420 Yea but he did talk to Joel before he was traded and more than once. He was capping. He’s a baby. To him if you’re not cuddling him there is no conversation. Embiid calls his self trash at times. He’s hard on his self and that’s just who is. If Ben can’t take that it’s ok but we can’t front about how hard he is on his self. Look at how Maxey takes it. Thybulle.
Drays ability to zoom wayyyy in and zoom wayyy out of the game has evolved so much and in ways never done from this angle as an active player. Massive respect.
True but I think it’s mostly true only because the amount of ways people can put there word and content out there! I can fully agree with the angles he approaches but even that’s still with today’s social technology but let’s not forget people like Kobe, Mj, Lebron and others like Magic and Timmy D etc have been breaking down the game in interviews or the odd documentary while active and after retirement but either way love dray for pushing the knowledge and love of basketball while speaking the truth and getting first hand accounts
“As a leader BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH......” Draymond just loves to pat himself on the back. A real leader doesn’t need to always remind everyone that he’s a leader. He just is.
I always hated how the media spun that sound bite in that press conference following their playoff exit Joel never specifically targeted Ben or even mentioned his name. He recalled an entire sequence (where he felt the momentum shifted) and only specifically called out himself and Matisse. That sht ALWAYS pissed me off bc I’m like…y’all just cut out the whole other part of his comment and made it seem like he was pissed at Ben
I also believe Joel "has what it takes to win" and his self awareness is admirable, I'm glad his career has gone the way it has and he's a legend already in a lot of ways with many more years to come
Joel doesn’t have what it takes to win.. not when you can dominant the paint instead he wants to be outside shooting 3s he should be in the paint posting up taking over games
@@mannydaprofit2869 bro u still living in 2018? This man embiid single handedly won his team at least 20 games this season and not with just shooting threes but dominating in the post and being everywhere on ghe court.

There are plenty games he could of taken over by simply backing down the center and either take the basket or draw a double team and kick that dude is really chasing the MVP trophy 🏆
This is why these podcasts are great. You get to hear it from the player's mouth instead of the media's interpretation of what the player said. Because what happened if you never saw the post game interview? You'd swear Embiid was going hard on Ben.
This is a classic business move. HE IS THE MEDIA!!!! He owns a podcast that needs ratings. He may not be the one pushing the agenda for now, but he is interviewing players with reputations. I doubt you can bring a boring player like Alex whatever his name is from the Knicks. I hate insincere people, but I like smart business moves and marketing so I’ll give Draymond his flowers.
I hope that Dray never changes up now that he's in the media business because he is absolutely right media intentionally tries to divide players and cause drama and I love when a player like Dray or JJ shuts it down and stays true to the bro code in the locker room and a lot of times retired athletes will turn ship and go full media and I hope that doesn't happen with Dray
He’s such a good dude Embiid, I’m so glad he’s on our team and I feel like we continue to not put the full pieces around him. Hopefully next year we can get our depth back and we’ll have a real shot. We’ve got great guys, they love to play with each other, still finding their groove but we need a better bench and back up for JoJo. Miss Drum big time. Full interview pls!!
You guys done screwed up! You’re best chance was ben for wigs straight up or for mcolumn or lilard. Harden was not worth what you gave up. You gifted the nets several more finals trips.
@@AR-rn8ok Lillard had surgery and CJ is not good enough to help the sixers get past Milwaukee or Miami. Embiid is in his prime NOW not next season when lilard is healthy at the 2023 allstar break. What if Jo gets injured next season? Sixers cant afford to gamble any longer. So you go get the best player available. Beal was another option but also is injured so Harden was the only answer for philly at the deadline and the Nets knew that so they were able to ask for extra. Ben Simmons: 0 production ... Harden: almost averaging a triple double and top 3 all time 3pts made. Both teams won
@@kiingofclutch He is saying, you gave up depth, sure, the Sixers now have a STACKED starting 5, but the depth was depleted, and it showed against the Nuggets. You trade Ben for CJ straight up and you keep Drummond and move Curry to the bench. The TEAM is much better that way.
Honestly think it's mostly Morey and Simmons. He was on the verge of trading for Harden prior to his move to Brooklyn - literally had Tisse and Simmons packed and ready to ship out. You can't take the max and not score in an offense driven league
Max has nothing to do with points scored depending on the team you play for. Simmons played for the wrong team. All Nets wants Simmons to do as a max player is 0-10-10 and get 2-4 steels, rebounds, run the fast break and lockup the best player on the opposing team that KD would have had to.

At any moment, someone could just snap and completely call out Ben and tell him he can f**k off, but they all kept their composure.
Embiid is a great player, to win a real championship is a tale only time will tell. There are so many great dudes like him out there and the Finals trophy of course goes to the sole victor.
His game slows the game it doesn’t make no one better those player scoring 1v1 usually he getting numbers but without Ben no movement off ball ,screens or cutters less assist and defense he working harder. Draymond lost kd so he knows how words hurt to see Ben and kd on same team with 2 guys who called out there star teammates its funny to me Especially with the Kyrie drama these playoffs will have so most back stories
Well Darryl Morey Tried to Trade Ben for Harden AS SOON as he got to Philly so that right there would've ticked ANY player off. It was all downhill from there.
lol oh boo hoo. As soon? More like 5 months after he got there at the trade deadline ONLY because it was Harden who was still considered a top 5 player at the time. Acting like Morey wanted to trade Ben for anything. Morey saw that one of the best iso players of all time at his peak wanted out of their old franchise. Ben didnt want to fit with Embiid and refused to adapt for years. All Ben had to do to be off limits even to other team's top 5-10 players wanting out is just shoot a damn basketball.
Draymond is one of the most clear and understanding of people who TALK about sports......I listened to Embiid....he was absolutely right about how it started......missed and opportunity.....missed free throw.....Trae 3...him throwing away the ball.....but even Draymon had in his head "The Press Conference" .....because they repeated it over and over only that he blamed Ben....... The idea that the coach blamed Ben also is Bull.....because...AGAIN.....if you actually listen to the press conference instead of what media says about the conference then you would know that at the beginning of the conference with Coach he said he "believed" in Ben.....when asked about Trae going for 3 of some high number he said "that was all Ben, he did his job".....the only time he said anything that could be construed as negative, if someone wanted to not because it was, was when he was asked "could Ben be a Point Guard on a Championship Sixers team".......he was honest and said ....."I don't know that right now"........why is that pushed as the ONLY thing he said when there was numerous positives he said about Ben before that?!! How can someone claim that was saying something negative?! He did not say NO....and the question was about being a Point Guard......after he said numerous positives about Ben.......could he be thinking about him as a Forward and having someone else as a person handling the ball and being able to shoot......he already has said that Ben was All Star on defenseive end so if Ben has a issue that prevents him from shooting in his head why not place hom where he does not have to but instead contribute his stellar defensive skill set. For Draymond.....who has been the victim of this pick and chose Press thing ......to buy into it with that question is horrible....... Embiid had been part of trade talks since he has been in Philly ......criticized by Shaq and Barkley....(who are the few in the media who have credibility to judge).....for his lack of aggressiveness and instead of mope and cry he pushed his game to be the overwhelming front runner in the MVP discussion the last two years.....(if not for injury and missing too many games at the end he would have won last year)......and gotten the praise of detractors like Shaq and Barkley......and is now in the discussion of being credibly positioned in the discussion of best BIG ever. The power of taking sound bites and repeating them has even affected Draymond........no wonder others who have less credibilty than him are affected by this craziness!!!
I think Ben wanted out cause of Doc Rivers honestly. It’s just kind of odd after the first season with Rivers as coach Ben didn’t wanna be there anymore

I blame the media and fans for all the drama that happened. They hyped up and made a huge deal about Joel and Docs comments then used their words as amo against Ben.
Ben Simmons deserves 100% of the blame for what happened to Ben Simmons. He is the softest professional athlete to play in any pro sport worldwide in history. The media, the fans and the other players on the 76ers had absolutely nothing to do with Ben Simmons being a spoiled brat with no self-awareness and no ability to handle criticism. Blamiing anyone except for Simmons is absolute nonsense. That would be like blaming the cashier at the grocery store for your two-year-old child throwing a temper tantrum.
@@ScottD-q9p don't forget to hold doc accountable too I'd understand joel saying what he said but for a coach to do that instead of calling the guy out privately is absurd
Dray what players don’t get is that, the media steering things up, helps you product and leads to you guys getting paid more. Plus, where there’s smoke there’s fire
That’s only happens like 2% of the time, the rest is the media stirring drama and causing unnecessary tension when there was nothing to begin with. Then they keep pushing that narrative and adding more and more untruth to it untill something actually happens
@@cayetano6547 my thing is also that’s real life. All forms of media control perspectives. You can also look at work environments, an influential figure in your office can mess things up. It’s the same as school, popular kids and teachers. At home, your parents can give false narratives about you to your aunts, cousins; I’ve been through the later. Anyway, that part it’s hard to runaway from because sources within organisations are the smoke. The media should seriously look for another way to provide entertainment because I don’t like the way they’re lying about Aaron Rodgers’s contract. It’s a messy situation but for the NBA, they are a narrative league. To my disappointment now. Fans watch highlights and debate shows and if you ask them have you watched a full game they say no. Players are responsible as well, they diss fans, the media, say games are meaningless and this leads to the on court product not going. There are so many angles to look at it from. The media has noticed people like highlights and drama so let’s give it to them. Idk, what do you guys think
I don’t want to hear anymore comparisons between Draymond and Ben Simmons from the media guys. Their dumbest take was that Ben would be a better fit than Draymond on the Warriors which isn’t even remotely true. Draymond is a vocal leader, holds everybody accountable on defense, always challenges himself to be better, isn’t afraid of pressure free throws, and will actually attempt perimeter shots. Ben isn’t half the player that Draymond is!
That's not true at all when you haven't seen Ben in a team like Warriors. If you wanna see his true potential like Draymond? Maybe incorporate him in the warriors or Nets. If you watched Embiid and Ben, they were dominating last season even tho their offensive skills did not mesh as much wb a team that actually is built on him?
Draymond bro, you will be a better host than Charles. Seriously, the reason I love your shows is you just ask the questions we all want to ask in a sincere way And, those players really replied you to the best of their knowledge. Great job!!! 👍
During the colangelo regime of the Sixers, countless reports came out of Joel trades and his lack of leadership, setting the cards up to build around Benjamin. It’s believable that word was given to Ben in confidence, and when it didn’t happen (Joel trade) I feel Ben sunk into a role and that’s where the regression began, offensively. Still was an A1 defender but you could see he was deferring more and more on the offensive side since it wasn’t “his” team and he couldn’t do what he wanted( not being a perimeter scorer). Can’t wait for the documentary on all this drama during the process years
So, Ben Simmons took that as throwing him under the bus? Embiid just gave a recounting of the facts. Embiid, said: "I’ll be honest: I thought the turning point was when we had an open shot, and we made one free throw and we missed the other, and they came down and scored.” “From there … it’s on me,” he added. “I turned the ball over and tried to make something happen from the perimeter. “But I thought that was the turning point.” That's an honest recounting of facts, Simmons spun on Danilo Gallinari with a clear path to the basket. He could have laid the ball up or dunked, but instead passed to Thybulle, who made one of two ft, he also ended it by saying "he" (Embiid) then turned the ball over. That changed the momentum of the game. So, in this modern PC era, a recounting of facts is seen as throwing someone under the bus, even when you end by saying you had a hand in it too..? Thybulle, made one of two ft, he was mentioned. Didn't see him get butt hurt from Embiid's comments. Embiid said he turned the ball over, self critical. Simmons, passed up a layup or dunk which would have definitely changed the game momentum. But, nooooooo, don't mention him. Embiid mentioned 3 teammates that failed to get it done, himself included. Get outta here with somebody threw him under the bus. He should have made the statement about himself. This why Philly can't rock with this man, no cap... Protected his "limited ass" for years. Look at his playoff stats. Look at the class of players he came out with and their improvement vs his...
Dray is totally right about the media stirring up trouble. In most industries punching a co-worker in the face during a work event isn’t a big deal. But most industries don’t have video recordings of team interactions. If it weren’t for the media leaking that video there would’ve been zero consequences or accountability. I gotta take Dray’s side on this one.
Im so glad dray started being more media involved, never really knew his true personality but as a basketball fan, u have to love draymond, very relatable with players and respects the game and all of it’s players.
Spot On by two men talking. Ben Simmons is a different breed when it comes to these two guys. At least it appears that way, and I saw it back at LSU, where he seemed to have a superiority complex when it came to his Team.
Dray I been a warriors fan for my whole life. I got major love fo you brah, my cuzn used to work security at your son's school, I'm born & raised in Oakland. We need you to make sure you shoot at least twice a quarter. Make or miss just shoot 8-10 shots a game and we'll win.
Ben Simmons knew he wanted to leave already. He probably had intentions on going to Brooklyn that whole year. These players have eachothers numbers, they’re friends, they talk etc
Exactly. He only signed that 5 year deal with Philly because he knew he would NOT get that much money on a FA contract. Him and Rich Paul set this whole thing up. And the tragedy of it all is he got away with it. Doc stood up for him the WHOLE season when the MEDIA wanted Ben benched. And then he turns around and blames Embidd and Doc for his leaving when he KNEW he didn't want to be there. Ben and Rich are FOS!
@@shellyj987 the media said he blamed them. But not true morey wanted Harden. Morey wasn’t apart of his contract extension and we all knew Ben was pissed that yr and that’s when I believe they planned all this out.
@@spoonztv2435 Bottom line he SIGNED a five year contract and wanted out less than a year in to said contract. You have a right to your opinion but I graciously just don't agree. This IMO only, was a scheme for him to get that fat contract which followed him to Brooklyn. Dude is in it for the money. Periodt. The ball part is just a means to get it.
I see where draymond was saying to him you know how to win but you don’t know how to win a championship and things have to align in order for that to happen, a part of that has to do with team chemistry and the right pieces to make a championship team. I genuinely feel like if jimmy butler didn’t leave the 76ers and Joel had the same team he had in 2018, he would definitely have a chance to be in the nba finals by now. It takes your team having a championship type dna about you and you can only do that by playing consistently with each other to build team chemistry and also have the right pieces as a starting squad and a solid bench to get into that championship DNA, Then there are the intangibles that are included that have to be accounted for, shoot even injuries. It takes time to get there and when you win, you only have a certain window to win again. It really does take a lot to win a championship.
Draymond saying it's hard to win a championship is like when Kim Kardashian said that people just don't want to work hard. Draymond on any other team would be ringless.
I love the authenticity these two have when it comes to speaking the truth. I just watched some of the jj redick and ben simmons interview, and i had to turn it off. I felt like jj was asking the tough questions but trying to keep it clean so ben would'nt get upset. This interview is dope.
All that was said, I still think Joel is failing to admit his direct/indirect impact on Simmons. He talks about media honing in on a specific moment, yet he is no different here. To be fair, he owes him nothing. This interview also exposes Draymonds lack of experience to either ask the right question, or the right follow up question. His questions are safe and and land softly; too complimentary and not neutral. He comes off like someone that doesnt want to upset a dominant superstar and then match up with him.
💯 his also forgetting that the only reason why the media honed on that moment is cause him and doc rivers came poured every single flammable thing on a fire instead of exstinguisher. In every interview he done that summer after the playoffs until like a week or 2 before the season all he did was trash Ben Simmons and Feed the fire that was the sixers fans. But forgetting that from game 2 onwards in that series he sucked in second half of every game on bothered sides cause he was getting cooked by j Collins so much so he ended on a t shirt for game 7 and let’s even talk about his offence when he was getting those free throws his number were horrible to look at Ben done his job made it’s not like they were attacking Ben on defence it was embiid cause we all know that if you make run and make work and out in that pick roll or fast breaks eventuall his going to wear down happens in every big game just look at the games against nets and nuggets just gone he started of amazing but by that second half 😮💨 he don’t move the or attack same consistently if you make work
embiid wanted to take a flight out to talk to ben in LA along with the starting 5 and few more to talk to him and ben told them nah fuck you basically it aint embiid's fault ben couldn't take responsibility and eventually cried his way out of philly.
@@alexisa3047 Yea but press conferences are too buttoned up and uninteresting for the most part. I'm talking about more casual type of conversations...not talking to the press.
I think that if they went with butler instead of Harris they may have won and would be way better now and throwing curry and Drummond in trade was way too much
I believe the 76ers tried that, but Butler didn’t want to stay. He was vocal in an interview with JJ Reddick that the 76ers lacked accountability. I also think he wanted to be “the guy” somewhere. I’m a 76ers fan, and I’ll honestly say that Butler made the right decision by leaving. We had problems that just finally bubbled to the surface at the start of this season, but I think he detected some dysfunction beforehand. He’s on a great, hardworking team now in Miami, and I actually miss him in Philly, but a lot has happened since then and I’m thrilled to have James Harden, even if the road was a trying one. Harris was always Plan-B during that offseason, but he became Plan-A once Butler opted to leave.
I can understand the off season, but interviewing dudes in mid season that you can possibly face in the playoffs 🤔 is kind of sus to me. This generation is different. couldn't imagine Jordan interviewing Clyde Drexler or Reggie Miller mid season to chop it up
In their defense, neither team is favored to make it to the Finals. Still, it would be nice for Dray to interview players from the NBA basement dwelling teams.
@@KrisNation that was strategic tho, Mike knew Barkley could easily be distracted and compromised. He said that in multiple interviews. Mike could stay up all night and all day playing cards, gambling or golfing and still drop 40 points. Barkley wasn't built like that and it showed in the last few games of the 93 finals
I feel like the media also had a huge part in creating tension and misunderstandings between Joel, Ben, Doc, and the Sixers organization. The media didn't take any accountability for their part though.
Embiid sounds like he really doesn't know why Ben dumped him. We all know what that's like when a partner lets us go and don't wanna argue about it. Would've liked it if Draymond asked him why he though Ben left. In a previous presser he said it was coz Ben wanted his own team. I don't think it's that exactly. I think Ben didn't like his role and didn't like Doc's coaching style. And he definitely didn't like Morey's style...
now that Draymond is in the media industry, it's natural *asking questions* about issues/controversies. the problem with other medias were the *twisting/tweaking* of what was said.

Where was Embid when Morey came right in and tried to trade him after he just signed his extension. Joel have to have more awareness. How can you not know? The man was fed up.
