The NFL Draft is tonight, and some are speculating that the New England Patriots will move out of the 3rd-overall pick. Colin Cowherd and Joel Klatt react to Colin’s mock draft and discuss whether Drake Maye is a Week 1 starter or not, and if the Chicago Bears have set up Caleb Williams for success.

I love when Colin and Joel are on the show together. Joel Klatt is 100% right: the effort given by the QBs in the draft that had bad records their last year. people who make the mock drafts don’t watch their entire tenure in college football, only the last season. and the same goes for NFL fans. that 7-5 in the toughest conference in its last year, (Caleb Williams) that 8-4 in the weakest conference in CFB (Drake Maye) and then 9-3 in the SEC after months of hype (Jayden Daniels)-it doesn’t reflect that the QB had a bad year. 2 of the 3 teams were depleted and lost to the NFL draft or eligiblity. Drake and Caleb played with that confidence to make the throws they THINK they can make, but can’t because they have young(er) players around them and new players into the system out the portal. Caleb basically played with Oklahoma players @ USC once Lincoln left Oklahoma in 2022. he still did with a mix of USC originals.

Maye is much better n I wouldn't have picked Trubisky!! He didn't play much in college, I think one season before NFL. Plus look who picked him. Bears! I know not same staff as now but they picked Fields. A lot on Bears for Fields development!!

Trubisky was a one-year starter (junior year) before declaring for the 2017 draft. Coming into that draft year, he was still very raw. Maye, on the other hand, started 26 career games and is more refined fundamentally than Trubisky was coming out of his junior year.

I'm not sure why Klatt got so hung up on the Cardinals being the most improved. The Bears were a better team than the Cardinals last year. The Bears will have the same ceiling as the Cardinals, but they have a way higher floor.

Can’t understand why Colin continually overvalues Kyler Murray. He has none of the traits that make for a top shelf QBs. All he does is run around when his first read isn’t there. Can’t read a defense, can’t play under center and can’t sling it into tight windows. Throw in a penchant for video games instead of film watching and a pissy attitude to boot and what you’re left with isn’t a top 20-25 QB.
